I survived an SCA in 2009. I received a CRT-D version of the ICD which synchronizes my ventricles and, if needed, can defibrillate. Some of us need the older devices, so when my battery gets low I'll be getting another one. In some ways I envy those who can get by with the new kind of ICD.
