I generally agree with Mr. Krauthammer but I have always held that market
dynamics argues against trying to raise a family on minimum wage, regardless how
high it is. As Mr. Saltsman posits, the best way to help a poor family is to
allow the free exchange of labor, unfettered by excessive regulation.The
minimum wage argument is a distraction. The real discussion should be on control
of our borders and the consequence of personal choice. There are no simplistic,
single-faceted solutions. There are systemic and complex approaches but they
require non-self-serving dialogue between parties.
