I guess I'm going to move this year

Cedar Hills, UT

Eighteen months ago my home appraised for 275K. Eight months later it had jumped to 355K. We sold our home in Aug for 355k. There was an adjustment in the housing market made about one year ago and home values across the board in Utah jumped dramatically. My guess is the existing inventory of homes on the market had finally been exhausted since 2009 and combine that with the super low interest rates you end up with inflated home values. I see this as a "bubble" that may not last for long. If you are thinking of selling I would suggest do it ASAP because it has already been nearly a year when the market changed plus I seriously doubt interest rates can continue to stay this low.

I love these "house values are going up, therefore it's a good time to sell" articles. Who wrote this, a realtor?

I suppose it's a good time to sell...if your next residence is going to be a cardboard box. But for most of us, selling a home means buying another one. So if house values are high, sure I can sell mine for a lot...but that also means the house I'm moving into is going to cost a lot.

Let's use our brains here, people.
