Complete domination in the second half. That is how you close out a game. Great to see Carlino back in form. As long as he stays under control, looks to pass first, and hits when he is open, he will continue to be a force. Great defense by the entire team tonight. A great team win!

Keep it up Cougars!

Wow; a 31-point swing from two weeks ago, and the Cougars are right back in the conference race.

Congratulations Cougars!

Keep it going back on the road.

Carlino is a good player, but like many players at this level he needs people to believe in him and give him some trust and confidence... He also needs to maintain his newly acquired discipline and improve his foul shooting by 5%...

Collinsworth also needs to improve his foul shooting, He gets to the line more than anyone on the team and 59% does not cut it... He should be a 75% minimum shooter and based on his style of play, 80% would be preferred... Anything shy of 75% is hurting the team.

When will Mika really be back??

It was a great game, so much fun to watch when they win! Carlino was awesome off the bench and boy was he needed what with Halford and Haws struggling with their shots before he entered! I hope he continues to play like that. We need him back in his starting role as the leader on the floor! Collinsworth was a rebounding beast and so was Austin and you could tell they've been working on their free throws. Sharp and Winder were also great contributors. They were still a bit careless with the ball at times but overall they were awesome!

Go Cougars!

Tough to focus on one player when so many can have the hot hand. Love Carlino under control and what a great bench (team) effort. We'll continue to see different contributions from Halford, Carlino, Sharp, Bartley, Winder as opponents try to game plan around the round robin contributions of the bench . Fun game to watch, especially when they decided to get with it in the secocnd half.

I seriously doubt that Carlino feels coming off the bench is "kinda nice" even if he said it, however, I think it is good for the team. Masterful move by Rose. I also think that bringing Mika in off the bench might be a good idea... in an effort to avoid early fouls.

This the first game in a long time that Matt seemed to play within himself instead of pushing things so hard that he lost control and composure. Great job Matt. Look for others first, but take the shot when it's yours to take. Great defensive effort was seen on the part of several, including Carlino. Congratulations on a great won. Go Cougars!

Nice bounce-back wins for BYU over Pepperdine and LMU to put the Cougars back into the WCC championship race 1 game behind Gonzaga.

BYU RPI up one spot to #36. Utah RPI down six spots to #156.

The next four games on the road are critical to BYU's chances of winning the WCC and securing an NCAA tournament berth.

Utah also faces a critical road game at Washington St. If the Utes can't beat lowly WSU today, Utah may not win a single road game all season.

Good article. I always like Dick Harmon's thoughts. I saw a lot good last night. Penetration into the key when the defense allowed it. Pull up jumpers when it was right. No over reliance on the 3 ball. Defensive surge in the second half. Defensive energy will knock it out of the park for a fast break team. It also will completely demoralize the other team when you steal and score. Jackson Emery was a master of that.

1. Start games with defensive intensity and steals.

2. Nate-please take more of those 15 footers.

3. Carlino-remember what you did here in this game-play within yourself-no crazy plays/shots-you have the power to pump your team up. Demoralize the other team with steals, not ours with turnovers.

4. Please work with Worthington to get arc on his shot-frozen ropes are easily fixed-good kid, he will work with you

5. Halford- when your shot doesn't fall- take some 15 footers first to develop game confidence and then move back outside. You disappeared this game due to this.

6. Kyle-hang out with Haws at the gym taking outside shots(mid range mostly) and free throws. You're awesome else wise.

Never say never...Congratulations Cougars (and those who are the behind the scenes mentors, supporters, fans, and loved ones...)

Nice to see Matty back on top.

As a BYU fan two things that I don't think ever should have to be said are "Revenge game against Pepperdine" and "Revenge game against Loyola Marymount". WIth that said, I am glad that we won the "revenge games", but they never should have been revenge games in the first place. Those are two teams we should never lose to, regardless of where it is played. But even with those two losses (and at least one other loss that should have never happened), Lunardi has BYU on the bubble as one of the first 4 out as of his Jan 9 update of his ESPN bracketology. I am still a little skeptical about if we will get in or not, but it is still possible for sure. Go Cougars!

The WCC - enough said.

#166 Utah's current RPI would place Utah 10th in the WCC - enough said.

The Pac really isn't all that, no matter how much smoke and mirrors you use.

salt lake city, UT

according to who? byu fans? that's just laughable. Jay Williams (former duke all-american guard) disagrees with you and i'll take his word over a yours. LOL. he has the pac rated as the 3rd best conference in the nation and the wcc isnt even in the top 10. so just cause YOU say it isnt all that great (which we all know is a lie) doesnt make it true by any stretch of the imagination.
