Against the #8 West coast cupcake conference, yes, byu "manned up"

We'll see this week how byu fares against lola Mary community and Pepperdine, the #4 and #6 west coast cupcake teams.

I am a BYU fan, but I don't live in a vacuum or fantasy world--it's easy to play good and look great against a week team--let's see what happens when the Cougs face a decent team--is BYU on the up?--only time will tell--this is going to be a long season for BYU basketball--Cougar fans need to face up to the fact that the NCAA and possibly the NIT are not in this years schedule.

Newsflash to DWF This is a young BYU team. They'll lose Mika for the next two seasons. This mission disruption might sort itself out in a couple of years, but for now this is the team we have.

Chris B, thanks for reminding us that the WCC is a bunch of cupcake teams with no hope of NCAA or NIT play. Yet, somehow, WCC teams and their many fellow small colleges regularly not only show up in the NCAA, but play in the finals, sometimes winning the whole thing.

How many bids did the PAC-12 get last year? And what happened when BYU, who couldn't win the WCC tournament, slaughtered Oregon in preseason and beat Washington on their way to the NIT final 4?

Nobody is scared of PAC-12 teams.

Your conceptual errors are based on the assumption that size of gym matters in hoops. Actually, all you need is a couple of NBA caliber studs and you're in the NCAA business. Unlike football where you need 60 players, you only need 8 in hoops. Small colleges often find 8 players good enough to beat big college teams. The WCC is a pretty tough place to play.

husky,

Sometimes WCC teams play in the NCAA finals and win the whole thing?

When was the last time that happened?

LOL!

Husky,

The WCC is currently ranked #11 by ESPN.

So yes, the WCC is tough place to play, after the top 10 conferences.

Congratulations, you have such a great program that not a single conference of the top 10 in the country wants to invite you to join their conference.

I know we(Pac 12) certainly don't want to invite you!

Every day that goes by we're essentially telling byu "No" all over again!

Think of it that way

Nice to have a starting 5. Now it's time to develop a bench...

Remind us how long it's been since the Utes last played in the NCAA tournament, let alone won a game.

BYU is currently ranked #26 in RPI; Utah is ranked #139.

"Sometimes WCC teams play in the NCAA finals and win the whole thing?

When was the last time that happened?"

Much more recently than Utah's one and only NCAA tournament championship won in the most watered-down NCAA tournament in history.
