Both Russia, and China have used the concept of collectives for their societies, and found it doesn't work.

Putting our schools into collectives won't work either.

Indeed Worf, Common Core @ it's root was funded by the Gates Foundation, it is a statists central planning creation. It is important that parents like myself understand what Common Core really is. It was in fact created in the shadows, concealed by confidentiality agreements, as opposed to exposure under the public light of standard sunshine laws. It is a one size fits all central planning effort that will do more harm than good. It will fail & it is a radical change in USA public education. The only mathematical & language arts advisors refused to sign off on final approval. In fact 5 of the 30 advisors refused to give their approval, despite the enormous political pressure that was brought to bare upon them. The end result is the dumbing down of the brightest, & sadly the destruction of a greatly needed vocational education track. Check out a short documentary film which explains how Common Core came to exist. Do a search for Common Core Movie. Huge Federal Government financial incentives were provided to the states to sign on to the Common Core standards. I feel really bad for public school teachers.
