"What's so great about having a higher RPI or SOS ranking if you are constantly being humiliated by a so called lowly Utes team!"

CONSTANTLY?

What are you talking about?

This was Utah's 1st win in the series in the last 8 games, and only Utah's 4th win in 16 games during the Dave Rose era.

My bad! I was referring to our football record against the Utes! I was also very upset about the loss by both the men and women's teams last weekend in basketball.

"North Carolina has lost to RPI/BPI #65/#121 Belmont, #144/#88 UAB, and (gasp) Texas, yet the Tar Heels are ranked #14/#18 in the polls, with RPI/BPI rankings of #17/#25."

The difference is that North Carolina or any other school does not get nearly as much the abuse and ridicule BYU gets when they lost to supposedly weak competition. I long for respect but it doesn't come when we keep on losing when it counts!

The women's loss was especially upsetting. How do you allow an opposing player to drive the lane for an uncontested layup to tie the game with only 6 seconds left on the clock when the play started.

The men's game was a little more understandable with Utah shooting lights out on their home court. Still, the Cougars didn't demonstrate the same composure they'd played with in games against much better teams earlier in the season.

What is the significance of RPI before conference play has even started?

It's the same as the ratio of Stanley Nickles to Schrute Bucks.

Need an Oregon win to offset a very bad Utah loss.

Not true, as we shot 41.5% for the game and average 52.7% on the season....This victory wasn't even remotely a fluke....We completely dominated byu....Savannah State was a greater challenge for us.

Pre-season is 40% of the entire regular season and counts just as much as conference play as far as qualifying for the NCAA tournament. If you don't think that's significant, try passing a class in school after failing the first 40% of the class.
