The same Ute Trolls that scoffed at Ziggy last year are doing the same to Van Noy and Hoffman.

They will be just as wrong this year. Enjoy the NFL and your Million Dollar Salaries!

Pretty hard to argue with facts with some people on the boards.

Also, just to name a few other former Senior Bowl players who are currently getting playing time in the NFL:

    Colin Kaepernick
    Jimmy Graham
    Von Miller
    Arian Foster
    DeMarcus Ware
    Patrick Willis
    Russell Wilson

    Just to name a few.

A few other facts about players who played in the Senior Bowl (from their website):

About one third of the starting QBs at the start of the 2012-2013 season played in the senior bowl.

Five of the six QBs in the 2012 game started at least one game as a rookie.

21 former senior bowlers made the 2013 Pro Bowl, 16 as starters.

Ziggy used the Senior Bowl to help ensure not only a first round pick, but a well deserved number 5 overall pick.

Ziggy Ansah recorded 7 tackles (3.5 for a loss), 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in last year's Senior Bowl. He was the 5th pick in tbe 2013 draft. Tell him that the Senior Bowl is for the also-rans in the NFL draft.

I am sure there are current players on NFL rosters who played in the Sr bowl last year. What about Ziggy?

Some of the greatest College players never made it in the NFL, which is a different kind of game and so mercenary...Merlin Olsen, there was a player who succeeded on every level, with great character and talent, love to see his kind of player, which are few and far between.

How could a team where every single player on their roster is a 5 star recruit, not get a single one of them in the Senior bowl? seems odd to me

The envy of Utah fans is evident in this article. Hoffman will be fine, 4-5 round pick. He has prototypical size, above average hands and good speed. Is he a blazer, no, but he is moving faster than you think. also, he'll have 4 1/2 months to work strictly on his 40.

AS for Van Noy his stock did probably take a hit this year. He fell from the first round to the second. Put he is an impact player that will come into the league and contribute immediately. Future star, probably not but he'll have a 6-8 year career and see plenty of playing time.

Just thought I'd check for old Mildred down in Fillmore. I remember another top 5 pick from last year that killed it at the Senior Bowl. Oh yeah, that was Ziggy Ansah another BYU player. People take all the advantage int he world to provoe they are nfl talent. I look forward to watching both Hoffman and Van Noy on Sundays!

All this NFL conjecture is just fluff. What's the career length of the average NFL-er: 2 years?

It will be nice that anybody who plays pro sports can tell their grandchildren about it, but they had better make good use of the education they get in college.

Both of these guys can star in Canada.
As it is, they're both mid/late round talent in the NFL.
KvN has some strengths, but very suspect tackling in the open field, and Hoffman is tall but that's about it.
They both need really good showings in the post season showcase, or they're not going to get much attention.

KVN and Hoffman will both be playing for the 4th bowl win of their BYU careers.

Sad that Utah's seniors haven't played in a bowl game since their sophomore seasons.

Sad that Van Noy was 0-4 in his super bowl games in his career.

And I'm confused as to why he's playing in the Senior Bowl?

Normally big time 1st and 2nd round guys don't play in the Senior Bowl, they've already done enough to prove their game, already have gotten enough exposure on the major networks, and don't want to risk injury in a meaningless game?

Are there any other first round picks from other schools playing?

I disagree with your assessment, and so do most scouts and draft experts. While Van Noy didn't have as spectacular a year and certainly did miss some tackles, he still has a tremendous motor and great instincts. He will be just fine in the NFL.

Hoffman is the one I worry about. He doesn't have tremendous speed, and doesn't always find openings in defenses and create separation. He has great hands though, and strong hands that can catch in traffic.

If I had to guess right now I would say Van Noy goes mid to late 2nd round, and Hoffman 5th round, maybe even early 6th.

Trevor Reilly will be mid to late 3rd round IMO. Of course all of it could change depending on combine performances but those are my predictions as of now.

BYU fan here but I don't think Van Noy is going to make it as an NFL player. The reason being is that he is not a very good tackler. Way too many opposing players slipped through his "leg dives" this season and those guys are mere boys compared to what he'll have to tackle in the NFL. Plus "leg dives" are unacceptable for linebackers in the NFL who are expected to be able to square guys up and drive them to the ground the old-fashioned way.

It's not that Van Noy is not a good playmaker because he most definitely is but so was Tim Tebow. But QB's need to throw and LB's need to tackle and it's really easy for NFL scouts to go out and find someone who can do those things.
