I will keep my ears open for this one.

I do like Christmas music, sacred and secular, but I wonder if anyone else is tired of hearing "pop" versions of hymns and carols. I like to hear those songs "straight" without so many embellishments added: you know the little musical twirls and odd vocal styles that some have adopted, suitable for rock and roll and country but not matching the spirit of the words.

The piano and cello on the photograph encourage me to believe this will not be another one of these. While I admit it really is fun to embellish instrumentally and that solos, in sacred music, that are sung with feeling and expression are wonderful; it's just the treating sacred music flippantly or making it "inordinately ornate", and that which attracts too much attention to the performer and too little to the subject matter, that can sound irreverent and lessens the sacred effect....
