Coach Hill is a classy guy, I wish him the best of luck in Ogden. He's been the Utes' primary in-state recruiter for years, and that should work wonders for Weber's program, I think he'll be able to find some great guys that the state's FBS programs overlooked. Hope to see Weber State successful in the near future, good luck, Jay!

Time to clean house at Weber State. Start with Bovee. He is out of his league and should probably go back to working with high schools.

Wow. Didn't see that coming. Best of luck to Jay. He will be a tough one to replace.

Congrats Jay you have been very pleasent every time I have interacted with you since your playing days to your time on the sidelines. I wish you the best of luck in your new coaching adventures. You are a great recruiter and will be missed at Utah.

Congratulations Jay. I think he's been one of the best coaches on the staff. He's done a Great job with instate and Vegas recruiting, and whatever position group he coaches, he does a great job with them. I wish him the best and much success at Weber.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sitake get a crack at a HC job soon too.

It'll be interesting to see how the Utah staff shakes out this off season.

This makes for a nice landing for K-Whitt in 2014.

Just another assistant coach for Utah who been sought after. This happens to all great programs.

Best of luck coach, one of the classiest guys in all of sport.

GO utes!

"Just another assistant coach for Utah who been sought after."

Yes, which Utah assistant will be named the coach for that comparable job opening at Texas?

I am hopeful he can bring a winning program to Weber State. If he wants to build interest, win and put butts in seats then stop looking for some kids from Texas and Florida and start recruiting locally. SUU is killing Weber in the local recruits and their facilities pale in comparrison. There are a lot of kids right here in Utah that are late bloomers or getting overlooked by the big 3. Kids who are going on missions should be a top priority. Invest in the now and the future. Be the school who waits to commit kids and steals the seniors that are overlooked because they didn't get rated by Rivals as a Sophomore. Lot of rivals rated kids sitting on the sidelines at the U, Utah State, and BYU. I'll name a few right now that would be absolute studs for Weber.

Scott Nichols - Bingham RB, Chipper Lucero - Alta QB, Dylan Murdock - Lone Peak WR, Spencer Romney - PG all around, T.J. Wind - PG RB, Austin Kruger - Lone Peak OL: All of these kids are D1 players, many missionary bound which when they return would dominate at the FCS level.

I'd like to thank Ed and Don't Feed for bringing down the board.

this is a great opportunity for Jay and I'm happy for him, but it took you 2 to start lobbing pot shots.

When is it going to stop?

Enough already!

Smart of Hill to get out before they clean house up on the hill. He is a good enough coach that I think he would have survived the purge whittingham is going to institute in a few weeks but he'd still be gone after next season when the entire staff is canned so this was a great move by him.

I think he'll do a good job at Weber which in my opinion should be a dominant program in 1AA and the Big Sky. It is located in a much more favorable location than any of the other schools in that conference and should have much better resources. It could be a very nice stepping stone job for coach Hill if he is successful there.

I was thinking of offering you a wager on that prediction Duck "hunter." But when you lose would you just head off to "Tulsa?"

Duck,

How does it feel to support a team that in incapable of beating a team that in your opinion is in shambles?

Sort of like how Texas fans want to fire Brown for having lost to BYU. LOL

Happy with the hire as Coach Hill has great local ties and will be successful recruiting local players to WSU. Already living here is huge as he can get right to work not having to uproot his family and move. Excited to see Weber State Football become respected again!

That, and call everybody a liar when he gets back.

I thought for sure that Dave Peck of Bingham High would get a shot at this job. He has been VERY successful for a long time and is a great recruiter. Maybe he will get the next HC job that comes up. Great coach!

Duckhunter, I actually agree with you for once.

Hill probably saw the writing on the wall, and knew the Utah coaching staff is a sinking ship.

Another losing season and Witlessham will be out of a job, and by extension so will all of his unqualified (except Erickson) assistants.

The guy was in charge of ST and Rb's. The only reason Utah's ST was decent was because of Andy Phillips. Kickoff coverage was a disaster. RBs were a joke.

On a more positive note; I think I will apply for the open job on the Utah coaching staff. Obviously previous experience means nothing. I could do a lot with $220k a year.

@Tomahawk Red

Well at least you aren't one of the knee jerk types that hurry as fast as they can to disagree with me simply to disagree with me even though what I wrote makes perfect sense.

Of course Hill was thinking about some job security, there isn't a coach on utah's staff that should be feeling secure at this point. It is funny that some of these utah "fans" that so quickly jumped to disagree with me are some of the same ones calling for changes in the coaching staff. lol
