Might want to clarify that that is Ranked #1 RPI, otherwise it is misleading

Congratulation Cougars!

A nice tuneup for Utah.

Great ball movement, great shooting, and some nifty passing in what at times looked like a BYU dunk fest.

Prairie View A&M? Seriously?

Isn't this like bragging about beating the local Cub Scout pack? Should we even be playing this team?

@whineAt_Y:
Seriously? A ute fan poking at choice of opponent? Is this really something U should be doing?

Don't be too hard on the Cougars... PA&M's next opponent is UCLA in Los Angeles... They have to play someone! Basically what the Cougars did tonight is set a precedent... If UCLA doesn't score 100 and beat them by 48 points, they are lousy! end of discussion.

Seriously, a Utah fan/BYU hater whining about BYU's schedule when the Utes opened the season playing Evergreen State, which is an NAIA Division TWO program?

btw, Prairie View's next opponent is UCLA. Looks like the Panthers are only scheduling real competition.

I guess Utah fans are feeling giddy now that Utah's Strength of Schedule (SOS) has moved up from 351st (dead last for six weeks) to 349th (on KenPom)? The sad thing is how weak the out-of-conference SOS must be to get that ranking because clearly some PAC12 teams are good.

Prairie View not only plays UCLA next (ranked 28th) but on 12/28 plays Wisconsin (8th). Prairie View's SOS? 77th!

BTW, BYU's SOS is currently 81st.

Hey GoRed- I'm confused. BYU played one of the toughest football schedules in the country this year. Oh well- you can't be bothered to pay attention, I guess. Good luck in your bowl game!

I agree. It would have been a much better win if BYU had come back from 15 points down in the first half.

To have them down 100-50 in the final seconds of the game is just sad. BYU should have played them closer.

The U has a much tougher preseason schedule.

BYU could schedule a tougher preseason if they were in the prestigous PAC. I think BYU is afraid to play Grand Canyon University at home.

Chris B loves his Pac!!! Go Utes! Onwards and sideways!!! Plus, they have that coveted PAC TV deal. Can't wait for it picked up by DirecTV so I can watch the games!!!

Can any Ute fan really talk about the teams BYU (or anyone else for that matter) plays?

Every school plays patsies; look at Louisvilles schedule. Utah schedule will get tougher in conference play.

BYU and Utah similarities= Yes, both teams play powder puff teams in the preseason.

BYU and Utah differences= One team scores 100 points and blows them out like they are supposed to, the other team struggles to barely hold on and win.

It's ok to schedule Powderpuffs, everyone has them on their schedule, but at least beat them convincingly like you're supposed to.

Great come back win.

Agreed.

Boise State and BYU both scheduled Utah, although it hurt their SOS.

Mount St. Mary's and Mesa College were the early round games of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic which lead to BYU playing Texas and Wichita State in the final rounds.

#22 RPI BYU's pre-season SOS #5
#120 RPI Utah's pre-season SOS #332

Despite your desperate attempt to pretend that Utah's pre-season schedule is "just like everybody else's", it's not even close.

@Veritas Aequitas

The season is eary, we shall see what this does to the other's schedule, as the season plays out. A little early to tell, being 8 +/- games into the season. If BYU tanks, or vice versa, that will hurt the other's strength of schedule.

@Chamberlin

Just pointing out the facts. I would hardly call that a "desperate attempt". Utah plays a weak non-conference schedule; as several schools do. I never stated otherwise. Utah's schedule will amp up once they get into conference play. Statistically, Utah plays in a tougher conference than BYU.

The great thing about hoops, is it all gets sorted out via tournament play. No equation or popular vote required.

Kralon-- ESPN has BYU's RPI at #8 and SOS at #2 before Weds. game. I've said before-- these things only matter if you win games. Utah has won some games so we all take a look at SOS--- ooops. Not so meaningful. BYU has won some games so we look at SOS--- impressive. Hope to have a great game with even officiating and classy fans and of course, a BYU win!!

@Spokane Ute...

Come on, be honest here. This is like a nest of safety where we can be open and honest.

I understand it is early in the season, but are you really pleased that as a member of the PAC, Coach K is playing this weak of a preseason schedule, where we have to wait until Feb.to really know how good the Utes are?

I am just happy that Rick Majerus is not around to see what has happened to his program.

To be honest I am neither pleased, nor upset with the schedule. I enjoyed watching the Fresno St & BSU games; as I will the BYU game. Considering where the program was 2-3 years ago; I have no issue with it. If you honestly think we will have to wait until February, you are mistaken. This Saturday will be an idicator, not to mention that #15 Oregon comes to SLC on Jan 2., and UCLA on Jan 18. Then @ #1 Arizona on Jan 26; followed by traveling to #21 Colorado on Feb. 1. Utah isn't the only team in the PAC 12 with an easy schedule to date; i. e. UCLA. As a Gonzaga fan, I would rather get my tough games later than sooner. Every year Gonzaga plays a brutal non-conference schedule, beats up on the WCC, then get's knocked out in the 2nd round. Utah's non-conference schedule will get better in the future. Time will tell if this scheduling works out for Utah. Also, thanks for the civil dialogue; kinda nice. Just sports fans with differing opinions.
