I don't think either athletic director should want this rivalry to continue because when BYU and Utah play each other, BYU's SOS goes down and Utah's goes up; a bad outcome for both schools.

Until he sees the results Saturday. Look for Fresno to suddenly appear on that schedule. Oh wait, it's already there. Can't play that card this time boys.

Pretty clear who will be more prepared for this game. BYU just beat a 2-win team by 48. Utah won by what, 7, to a 3-win team, having to come from behind to grind out a win. BYU already played a rivalry game and wore them out at the end. Oh, and they played Weber, so that's two rivalry games already with 2 green W's. Already beat a PAC team on the road. Utah beat....uh...Nationally ranked by the Department of Agriculture - Grand Canyon.

Utah needs an A game to win...that is all there is to it. BYU is WELL tested so far. Glad Utah has a backbone and good sense to keep at least basketball going. The BYU/Utah rivalry is too good to discontinue in any sport.

Yeah, it must be pretty difficult to pickup a phone and calendar at the same time to find a date to play my Aggies.

Glad to hear the Utes are planning to keep one good non-conference game on their slate to go along with a bunch of cupcakes.

I makes no sense why Utah and USU can find a way to meet once each year also. Utah's probably looking for a 2 for 1, when USU is clearly the better BB program and deserves an alternating schedule between Logan and SLC.

Seriously? Didn't bother to read the announcement today of a perennial top 10 team being scheduled?

Just saw coach k's comment about the situation. First he tries to act insulted that coach rose said the ute's aren't cooperating. Coach k said he's excited to play byu. After saying it's not them that don't want it to happen, he slipped and said he wants a third year neutral court at ESA. Humm?? Really? What is that 1.3 miles away from the huntsman center? Wow!! I have an idea. Neutral court should be out of state. Any state. See if the ute's agree to that. Nope!

Apparently it is ok to get thumped each year by the Cougars but not by the Aggies.

There could only be two problems with the u scheduling games with USU: 1) u is unwilling to schedule one for one games with USU 2)Larry Krystkowiak is terrified of entering the Spectrum (which leads to the 1st problem)

I miss the Rick Majerus era when the u fielded a men's basketball team.

Whether Chris Hill means to or not, the perception of Utah is one of total, unabashed, and undeserved arrogance from the hill. This from a team who has been horrid the last several years. How hard can it be to schedule BYU, especially if they're moving games for you? And the arrogance to not play Utah State? Come on. He's managed to unite BYU and USU fans. Pretty impressive work Dr. Hill. I can't decide if they really do feel like they're better or if they don't want to get embarrassed until they are sure their program has turned around(which will probably happen). It's likely the second. Either way this is no way to make friends with your in state rivals.

i think the series should continue as it is good for the state. I agree with our desnews moderator StGtoSLC that utah picked up a nice away game by a top ten team. That should he;p to build the program although it is too basd they not get a return game in slc.

I don't really care if the ute vs Cougs game goes away... All it does is drag down the Cougs SOS for Tournament consideration... I think that I'd rather play a 5th nationally Ranked team in preseason and that would give the utes another Division II game to prop up their W-L record...

Whew! Now we can all sleep tonight...Hill made it sound like the US and the Russians and the STARTII Treaty. Get over yourselves, people, this is just sports being played by kids.

Once conference schedules start, Utah's SOS will increase. Some team in Utah County will go way down.

Nice job Utah in scheduling Kansas for next year.

I do like the idea of playing in the ESL as a local tourney. Utah, USU, UVU, Dixie, Weber, SUU and any other team from Utah County that wants to play.

I think it is time for Dr. Hill to retire. He and KWhitt continue to rest on past seasons while their programs continue to swirl down the tank.

They continue to fiddle, while the programs are in ruins.

Wow, the trolls are out in force today.

I think the ESA tournament is great idea. I think SL would be a great place for a small tourney. The quick turnaround is good for teams in preparation for conference and possibly other tournaments at the end of the season.

Go Utes!!

I hope the serires continues and I'd like to see them play home and home each year. This rivalry makes for some great debate and back and forth. Although some times I feel like I'm debating an angry blue tree stump. Not always, mind you, but certainly some times.

When Chris Hill says the discussion with Utah State have become difficult and uncomfortable, is that because Hill calls the Aggies up and says "Look, we're in the Pac 10 and have tons of Pac 10 stickers, therefore, we get to tell you how things will be. We will give you a 2 for 1 if you want, take it or leave it"?

The arrogance shown on the hill these days is unbelievable. Certainly the aggies aren't pushing for anything other than what has always been done. But now Chris Hill has to look down at the aggies? Poor class.

Based on Utah's basketball record against BYU over the last few years, I could certainly understand dropping BYU from their basketball schedule in favor of Southern North Dakota University or Western South Carolina College. Of course, they would loose their only sell out.

"Once conference schedules start, Utah's SOS will increase."

Unfortunately for U, Utah's loss total will also increase, dramatically, because Utah's cream puff pre-season schedule has left the Utes completely unprepared to face the rigors of conference play.

Okay utah, how about neutral site at Maui Invitational. Sure a lot big rich "u" people can afford to attend there and many byu fans from Hawaii will go too. Sounds Good?
