Bingham absolutely dominated every single playoff game winning by 30+ points and would have done the same to East.

Duchesne was probably the second best team in the state and Trent Roberts is a more deserving "Mr. Football".

"He threw for multiple touchdowns in every game except twice against Desert Hills"

I guess that about cover it.

There is the part about throwing only one touchdown total in those two games, and also the part about him throwing seven interceptions in those two games.

Great stats produce awards, great Defenses produce State Championships.

Trent Roberts doesn't even belong in the same category as anyone in 5a.

Good for Nichols. He without a doubt deserved and earned this award. It goes to show that a non-Poly running back can get things done at Bingham when given a chance. Sad to think that if a Poly was there Nichols would have been second string.

So Jazzer are you saying that a 4.5-40 at Bingham is faster than a 4.5-40 Duchesne? Every football players put there pants on the same way. 47-1 is pretty sound. It's pretty hard to say who the best player in the state is. You just don't know.

@JohnsonR @tharef : 47-1 is pretty impressive but that is against 1A and 2A schools. Sure he is a great athlete but there is no way he would hang around with 5A or 4A athletes. Imagine how rattled he would be if he was going against 300 pounds giants like those of Bingham, Brighton, East or Timpview. Maybe he would be successful, but the player he was at Duchesne no shot. How do you figure Duchesne the second best team in the state? Best in 1A no doubt, but there is no way they could compete in 5A, 4A or even 3AA.

Actually, Duchesne is 48-1 against 1A, 2A, and 3A teams over the last 4 years. Just sayin'.

And Roberts was only the QB for 26 of those, so maybe he's not really that good. On the other hand, can any other player in the state claim that much success?

Honestly, the Duchesne coach himself said that 1A teams probably couldn't hang with the larger teams. I mean, the fact is, the smaller teams just can't compete with the depth of the big teams. But this kid worked hard to put himself and his team at the top against the teams that are in their league, and he and his team did it. I am absolutely certain, if this kid were in any program, he'd rise to the top pretty fast.

Make all the claims you want, Roberts still has an MVP award and his 4 state championship rings. What more can you ask?
