Utah is clearly the best team in the state of Utah right now. Utah is very, very athletic. Looking forward to the 14th. Should be fun to watch.

As we have heard all football season, beating worse teams is better than losing to ranked teams!

Congratulations to the prestigious PAC 12 utes with the best record in the state!

And again, record is all that matters.

Beating so many jc teams doesn't count. Sorry you're still number three!

I think we'll find out in march that Utah is the third best team in the state and it won't even be close. Utah is a much better team this year but they still wouldn't beat Utah state if they actually had the guts to play them and BYU is just a lot better. Congrats on beating one of the worst teams in the MWC. Did anyone really think Utah wouldn't have the best record in the state to this point? When you play a schedule weaker than weber state's you better have the best record. And please don't make SOS comparisons for football CB...football doesn't have teams like Evergreen and Grand Canyon. Not an accurate comparison (and BYUs fb SOS was 32, not 336 or something like Utah's in bball...please).

Bouncing back from a tough loss is important. Now let's finish the non-conference strong, and build momentum for the real schedule.

Go Utes!!

West Point , UT

Fresno State= sagarin rating of 145 with a SOS of 162. Good enough for 10th in the MWC. But hey it's a step up from Mount Saint Rockies and Seminary Tech. Utah SOS sagarin rating is actually 352, I gave them too much credit.

Don't get me wrong I think Utah is better and like what coach Crisco is doing there, but don't make ridiculous claims about being the best in the state. I'm just trying to save some people the embarrassment when reality sets in later in the season.

Utah is MUCH better than we were at this time last year. Great chance to prove it next weekend against BYU.

Cougsndawgs.... I think there is a really good chance that you might just need a hug.

I love to see the Utes play well. Coach K has done a super job and this win is a big step forward.

I predict that the Utes will give the Cougars all they can handle, and more!!!! What a great game it will be!

Glad to see Utah raise its level of performance against another solid competitor. Success as the season evolves ....

Wow, this is so laughable reading all of the posts from the true blues about SOS in basketball being so important, just after reading all football season long how it doesn't matter. They claim the W is all that matters for football and hold up wins against middle Tennessee state, New Mexico State, Idaho state, San Jose state, and delusional state as proof that winning is all that is needed to be considered a team of relevance.

So laughable, yet so predictable.

I think Chris makes a good point. byu fans, you can't have it both ways. Which is the better team? The perennial head to head winner or the one that has a better record?

using last year as the bar to measure against is really pathetic. anyone is better than that. next week will prove that WCC will dominate pac 10.2

The first two comments are right down hilarious. To be expected, but hilarious nonetheless.

You're right I think I just needed a hug...I was reading other articles and let my competitive spirit get the best of me. Thanks for understanding, and good luck to the utes except against my Cougs...well actually they will need all the luck they can muster against BYU. Congrats on another win, and congrats on having a much better team this year with impressive players like Wright. No one should make statements about best in the state, however, until they prove it throughout the season. That's all I was saying.

As I stated above that's because BYU had the 32nd ranked schedule in the country...14 places ahead of Utah's 2012 SOS where they only went 5-7, 3-6, not 8-4 like BYU. Utah is playing the 352nd ranked schedule in bball...now do you really think that is a comparable argument against BYU fans' appraisal of FB SOS and success? In the end it doesn't matter in bball, because Utah will have their chance to prove themselves as their season becomes more difficult. Good luck, and cheers mates.

Good win. I like this team, they play together and. Move the ball around. I will be shocked if this team doesn't play in the post season and finish .500 or better in conference play.

West Point , UT

Luckily BYU basketball doesn't have to make that distinction because they consistently beat Utah in both...next.

Layton, UT

ute alumni,

Nothing will be proven in the unlikely occurrence that the #2 team of one conference beats the #9 team of another conference.

I'm not here to dog byu basketball, I'm a fan of Dave Rose but...

I'm talking about today, this season in both sports...which is it?

ekute-Which is the better team? The perennial head to head winner or the one that has a better record?

Easy, the team with the higher ranking at the end of the season, because that will have taken into consideration both head to head results AND records versus level of competition. Nothing inconsistent about that standard.

Not many are delusional enough to believe that head to head is the only measure. To think so would be to fantasize that the Ute football team this year is actually better than Stanford, no?

Sorry to rain on yours and Chrissy's fantasy land parade.

Layton, UT

Poor analogy, Stanford isn't a perennial loser to the Utes.
