"Perhaps if we played the #32 SOS instead we would also be going to a bowl game."

Perhaps not. Utah played the #41 SOS last season and finished with the exact same 5-7, no bowl record.

The fact that Utah has finished behind in record AND ranking in 6 of the last 9 seasons is proof that one game does not a season make.

It's laughable that Utah fans are claiming that Utah was "competitive" in the PAC, because the Utes lost a lot of close games, but then those same Utah fans claim that Utah has "owned" BYU because the Utes have won several close games.

The hypocrisy and inconsistency is truly astounding.

Ute,

Classic BYU fan mentality. Avoid the SOS aspect (yep it does matter, it is in the BCS equation), do everything to avoid objective data (Utah beating BYU 75% of the time) to put more weight on subjective data (rankings:even though it is a number it is still based on opinion) and then say BYU is better.

I get it, BYU fans can't stand that Utah has owned BYU over the past decade. It's true. Now, you can say that the Pac-12 has owned Utah, there is no argument on that over the past 2 years, the Pac-12 has owned Utah, but to say BYU hasn't been owned by Utah over the past 12 years just because some of the games have been close is just silly.

Utah/BYU is a rivalry like a hammer is to a nail, the Utah hammer just continually pounding the BYU nail into the ground. It's great.

That was last year. The fact that Utah still got 5 wins with a much more difficult schedule, and was on the verge of a few others, indicates that this year's Utah team is better than last year. Therefore it would not be surprising to see Utah pull out another win if their schedule had been as easy as BYU's.

You're already "where you want to be." Just ask Chris B and countless others on these blogs. You wanted to be in the PAC 12, win or lose, and you got your wish. The pundits picked Utah 5th in the southern division and that's exactly where they are. You wanted to be fodder for the real programs and help Washington State up the ladder and that's exactly what you and Colorado have done. Your SOS takes the place of a bowl.....I like that! (And so should you because it's the trend these days for Utah.)

Congratulations!! You have it all, right now!!
