Apparently this is evidence of "improvement" in slc.

"4-5, 3-6, 2-7 Apparently this is evidence of "improvement" in slc."
Yep. Record is the only thing that matters; not what teams you play. I admire the Cougar fan that can take satisfaction in an automatic-bowl-bid schedule intended to pad the win loss.

Sooner, good point

But you missed the more obvious point.

Duck has been on here multiple times over the past 4 years claiming that BYU is better than Utah, despite Utah beating them 4 in a row.

So by his logic,

17-16
54-10
24-21
20-13

is evidence of "better" in provo

another 5-7 record. Hmmm, maybe whitingham isn't as good as his paycheck says he is. The Utes are bottom dwellers in the PAC and probably will be for years. It's unfortunate, but the Utes just aren't a PAC-12 calibre team. Sure they beat Stanford (lucky on that one), but otherwise they stunk all year. There is no consistency with the offense and the defense has holes to fill worse than swiss cheese. There is no rhyme or reason to even talk about stadium expansion.

If Ducky and the rest of the y "fans" obsessed with the U are right, then 0-4, 1-6 and 3-11 is "evidence" the cougies must be better.

"Kyle's our coach. Absolutely."

Sorry to hear that.

As long as Whittingham is here, Utah will never be a contender in this league.

Period.

Hard situation for Kyle to be in. He has had time and time again to prove this team is able to compete but has come up short, for the most part. Now we head into another long offseason and prepare for next season. Except...next season's schedule is only worse. @Michigan @Stanford @UCLA @ASU @OreSt @CU and welcome Oregon, USC, Arizona, Wazzu, Idaho St., and Fresno to SLC. If things don't get fixed, and fast, I see us winning maybe 3 games, maybe.

Time is ticking Whittingham.

"Being a holiday weekend many students most likely went home for the holidays. Would explain empty seats."

Don't kid yourself; we all know that if Utah had been playing BYU, rather than Colorado, there wouldn't have been an empty seat in the stadium.

When are Utah fans going to stop whining about playing a "difficult" schedule - this is exactly what you signed up for.

btw, BYU's end of regular season SOS, per Sagarin, is #32; that's almost 10 places HIGHER than the most difficult schedule the Utes have played in their entire history, prior to this year.

Utah's SOS History
2013 1
2012 41
2011 49
2010 50

2007 60

Answer the following truthfully and you'll have your answer:

Was Utah(5-7) better than Stanford(10-2)?
Was Texas A&M(11-2) better than Alabama(13-1)?
Was Colorado(3-10) better than Utah(8-5)?
Was UNLV(2-10) better than Utah(9-4)?

If you can truthfully answer "yes," without any qualifiers, to any of the above, then you can logically make a case for the results of a single game trumping the results of an entire season.

Otherwise, you're simply blowing smoke.

What a beautiful day on on the hill yesterday playing another 'big boy' team. Talked with several of the CU fans and I can tell you, the conversation wasn't at all like on these threads.

It's a good thing this rivalry (Utah - BYU) is taking a time out.

So close this year against the Beavers and Devils. Too bad we didn't play Cal this year. Those are three wins the team wished they had this year.

8 conference games with a conference championship game is enough (See SEC). 6 teams in the Pac-12 have another conference loss due to the extra game. This year it hurt Oregon and Stanford with 2 losses and off course the 5-7 Utah team.

Next year the three non-conference games will be much more difficult. Better have a great off season!

Info please...

Aren't Oregon and Stanford going to be on Utah's schedule for the next three years?

My understanding is that the two teams Utah doesn't play from the other division are on a rotating basis...Oregon and Stanford were out the first two years, Cal and UW out this year and next year, so won't it be OSU and WSU that won't be on the schedule in 2015 and 2016.

I've seen some posts that say Oregon and Stanford will be on the schedule for only one more year and then Cal and UW come back.

When I Googled it I could only find the OOC games for the next few years, not the PAC-12 games.

Your first assumption is correct:

2014: Oregon, Stanford, WSU, and OSU
2015 & 2016: Oregon, Stanford, Washington, and California

Having a 'same page' for the public doesn't mean 'same page' when it comes to the bottom line and behind closed doors.

Pretty funny after beating the Buffs how the 'company line' is being held by the fans when only just last week, the week before, the week before, etc. we heard a lot of grumbling Ute fans wanting Whit to go.

Amazing what beating one of the worst teams in the conference does to Uteville opinion.

@ Swoop

Why does that matter. This year, Utah played the most difficult schedule in NCAA football. Perhaps if we played the #32 SOS instead we would also be going to a bowl game. It seems likely to me.

Pacman

let me run this by you

If 2 teams play the exact same schedule and one is 9-3 and the other is 3-9 who is the better team.

Yes your right, the 9-3 team is the better team.

Sure there might be a lucky bounce in there effecting the outcome of one game here or there, but really, we know who the better team is.

The fact that Utah has OWNED BYU is a fact conveniently forgotten by BYU fans in complete denial as to who the better team is. You my friend are the one blowing smoke.

It goes to show that denial is not only a river in Egypt, but is also a fungus spreading through BYU fandome.

Go Utes.

And herein lies the problem. Both the AD and the head coach are fine with mediocrity and so are many fans. If this is all you want out of conference membership good luck to you. Me personally would rather go to a bowl game every year in football and play in post-season in B-ball. Enjoy the holidays and March Madness in CB basement watching BYU and USU play in their bowl games and post-season round ball.

Down under,

If the AD and the Coach were complacent they never would of agreed to join the PAC 12.

It seems that complacency resides in happy valley where your program will not concede any thing to get into a major conference and is happy traveling around the country playing who they can and settling for lower tier bowls.

I'm surprised, shocked really, that it is reported Steve Sarkisian is being offered the USC job. Why not Whittingham?

Don't Feed the Trolls,

That's a silly comment. Why not Matt Wells? Looking at your moniker...What are you doing today?
