There is a psychological study called "Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments" by Justin Kruger and David Dunning. It should be required reading for anyone interested in how this presidency went off the rails.

One of their observations:

"...[P]eople who are unskilled...suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it."

Barack Obama simply doesn't know what he doesn't know. He's been told by so many people that he's the smartest guy in the room, he has come to believe it. Somehow he came to believe he was capable of directing the nation's health care system, of which he has made a shambles.

He can either accept humbly that he has botched everything, or he can continue lying his way through. Past behavior indicates he will tell more lies. He will be the last to know that his credibility is gone.

"Obama is like someone who burns down your house. Then shows up with an empty water bucket. Then lectures you about how defective the house was."
The most accurate definition of Obamacare ever given! Priceless!

Can we just re-name this guy George "Shill"?

When Obama lied, people cried,
When Bush lied, people died.

...and I'm still waiting for GW Bush's apologies.

The Obama legacy will be positive in spite of the nattering nabobs of negativism like George Will.

We're out of Iraq, and getting out of Afghanistan.
We didn't go to war with Syria.
We're not going to war with Iran.
The DJIA is at record levels.
Corporate profits are at record levels.
Healthcare inflation is at its lowest level in 50 years.
The federal deficit is down sharply since just last year. (Yes, still a long way to go.)

Thanks, George, for so reliably viewing our nation through the dark and blurry funhouse mirrors of hyper-conservatism.

Oh my gosh, these guys are going all out trying to make people believe this presidency is a failure. We'll I guess I can't blame them. But they will only have this one shot at it, and they are throwing all they have at it. Even this intellectually stunted attempt by Will. But it's not going to work. There is absolutely no way the ACA can be adequately judged in its first few weeks. Get back to me in a year. First of all this news cycle is going to disappear, no matter how much the desperate Republicans try to keep it a story, its already fading quickly. Second of all, the web site is going to be fixed, and after all the cooked up stories of how bad the regulations are for people become a distant memory, real people, that are actually being very well served by no caps and no precondition and the other good things in the ACA will rule the day, and history. The media might not be so interested in these people that are being helped right now, after all, negatively always makes a better story, but they are there.

LDS Liberal:

5 years later and liberals like you are still trying to defer and critique of Obama by raising one about Bush. What does Bush have to do with this current health care fiasco?

Yes, Bush was terrible. Time to move on.

Republican receipt:

Gather as many false notions as possible, sprinkle generously with hate and stir as long as necessary.

It worked in the war against workers unions, it will work in the war against President Obama and it’s going to work in the war against America.

Romneycare had signed up less than 200 people it's first month but he'd totally make a good president. Obamacare signed up less than 200,000 people it's first month and it's a sign he's a failure (the US is not 1000x the population of Massachusetts, Obamacare did better than Romneycare by 7x after accounting for that). Romneycare had a slow start and then picked up and we're seeing signs of the same from Obamacare where some of the exchanges are reporting double the October enrollment in just the first half of November. Just give it some time.

Great quote but I doubt many know where it is from.

I'm getting wet from all the republican crying. He didn't take your guns nor activate the sleeper cells you were sure of. Why would anyone think you can predict the future? !

The ability of Obama's supporters to rationalize is beyond the pale. Denial is NOT a river in Egypt.

If we forget about the mistrusts like you can keep your plan, you can keep your doctor, you will save $2500.00 per family, I didn't know the website didn't work etc and completely ignore the website failures, we still have the simple fact that obamacare will not improve our healthcare at all. Obamacare makes things worse and costs us much more. This alone will damage Obama beyond repair.

There are two types of people out there. There are doers.... and those that criticize the doers. I am not saying that what doers do is always right, but it is at least doing something. Mr. Will funnels he great skills not into building and improving, but to an intellectual quest of tearing those down who do.

Rather than weekly focusing on what Obama is doing wrong, why not expend a portion of that effort on identifying those that are doing it right. But even that - for Mr. Will and many others - is too much to ask. Rather, they sit on the sidelines, criticizing those who actual work for the betterment of man.

If we have the wrong leader, then either lead, or let us know who the right leader is.

Obama recently honored Bill Clinton with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Bill Clinton is the personification of what is the matter with our country. He is proud and arrogant, dishonest, cruel, adulterer, liar, and the list goes on and on. The fact that Obama gave Clinton this award, cheapens the award and its significance. It shows that Obama is either a very poor judge of character or he just doesn't understand what real character in a man is. At any rate, the Presidential Medal of Freedom award is now meaningless.

How do you keep your own doctor?

After the Navy and having a different doctor in every port, I became hooked up with a general practice doctor.

Ten years later we moved to Salt Lake City and found a new doctor.

Two years later stopped going to that doctor because he wanted to do an unnecessary operation.

New doctor was my same age and I thought I was fixed for life. Several years later he and his family went on a church mission to Switzerland.

Found a new doctor only to lose him to the LDS hospital in a staff position.

My next doctor lasted only a few years before taking a job at the Huntsman clinic.

The next doctor closed his Salt Lake practice so that he could move to Park City where he would be closer to his HIV patients.

At that point since I was eligible for veterans care I went to the George E. Wahllen VA hospital. I get a new main doctor every 18 or so months and a different doctor for each specialty.

I probably could have kept the first doctor in SLC right up to the end of my life.

Yeh, It’s just like when Utah received the award for being the best business state in the United States.

"...the personification of what is the matter with our country. He is proud and arrogant, dishonest, cruel, adulterer, liar, and the list goes on and on...".

I totally agree.

However, you forgot to mention that paragon of virtue and character Republican Newt Gingrich,
one of the top 2012 Republican Candidates for President of The United States of America.

No problem.

Republican Newt Gingrich was all of the above and more.

Yet... Republican voters especially, in the conservative South, as well as Republican King-makers, all over America, fell all over themselves pushing Republican Newt Gingrichs' candidacy.

The fact that Republicans pushed Republican Newt Gingrichs' candidacy, at all, shows they, as well, are a very poor judge of character or just don't understand what real character in a man is.

No, his followers are mesmerized and will follow him like lemmings.

You may have a long wait for George Bush's apology. A rejoinder to Will's article might be:

George W. Bush is like the guy who sets your house on fire and then shows up with a bucket of gasoline to put out the flames. He then lectures you on how Private Enterprise could have burned your house down much quicker.
