The OL looked good last week lets hope that trend continues. If so Shulz won't need to make big plays it will be up to our disappointing running game. Since Wazzu is bad against the run I see us running for over 200 yards.

    To the moderators:
"utesies" is hate speech. It denigrates the Native American tribe for which the school is named. Please make a small effort to be balanced. Do you publish articles that refer to BYU fans/students as "zoobs"? Why is "utesies" more acceptable?

For those who always throw this out there, please explain to us how the U "earned" a PAC 12 invite?

We can safely assume Colorado earned one based on the same criteria because they were invited before you were.

I look forward to your honest response.

It it weren't for certain U fans, I really wouldn't say GO WAZZU Cougs!

But of course... GO BYU Cougs!

@Veritas "I hope The U enjoys their new rivals, Grand Canyon University and Colorado"

That can only mean that BYU's new rivals are Idaho state and Mesa, or is it Mt Saint Mary's?

    @40. cal:

I try not to get into the middle of these things, but how do you justify your comment? We've beaten BYU four years in a row. When does that not constitute beating an easy team? Fear is not the reason Utah is not playing Utah, exposure is. As a Utah fan I found it kind of boring playing three in state schools this year. It's time to switch things up a little, like by adding Michigan. It just makes sense.

Fact: Fresno state replace byu and Fresno is a better program than byU. Just look at the standings.

Beating byU year after year after year just didn't do anything for us. Beating byu isn't seen as a good win(remember how the nation mocked texas for losing to you guys? LOL)

We wont play byU because we don't need to play you. byU needs Utah more than Utah "needs" byu.

We have moved above byu by going undefeated several times in RECENT history, beating up on SEC powerhouse Alabama in a bowl game, earning a Pac 12 invite.

The futher we disassociate ourselves with byU the better. Again, byu is seen a s fun religious program, but not a serious national title contender.

    Fresno is better.

And how long has it been since BYU had a signature win, Miami in the 90's? You can say all you want but its been only 5 years since our last amazing season, and its been 20+ years since yours.

Difference is we're moving on to better things not stuck in lala land. I rather have 6-6 seasons with the kind of opponents we bring into RES instead of beating up on cupcakes after going under or at .500 the first 5 games like BYU.

    Oh Chris your funny.

FACT#1 Utah does not want to play BYU the next two years because they need easier games. They know that playing in the Pac 11+1 is hard (I agree good teams in the pac 11+1.) And if BYU is such a GIMMIE game then why not play BYU the next two years? Oh the answear is becasue it is always a hard game for utah.

I am not taking anything away from utah a win is a win, but they were hard fought close wins. The only bowling your utsies will be doing this year is with pins.

.40, its so funny that 3 of those "could have gone either way"

90% of football games "could have gone either way"

And speaking of that one that you agree "could NOT have gone either way," when was the last time byu beat Utah in such a way that it could NOT have gone either way?

In other words, when was the last time you guys put a 54-10 beatdown on Utah?

    LOL

    @ Fender

Are you saying the 3 games that could have went either way were really moral victories. Sounds jr highish to me; I think that is why the final score still determines the winner.

Your opinion about the Utes is just that, opinion. I don't think anyone can foresee their future. Hopes remain high they will reestablish themselves as a contender in a conference recognized nationally.

The Utes growing experience of the past 2 years has been a painful learning experience. Patience my friend.

I saw good things from the O-line and Schulz vs Oregon. Hoping for a 3-0 finish to the year.

What does it say about the status of the programs in the state when byu is playing ND and it's "fans" are over here bagging on Utah?

Why ya gotta label me and put me in a box. I am a fan of both schools, just not a fan of the "chip on their shoulder-hate the other school" fans. (now you are labled, and put in a box... weird how that can be done)

I call it how I see it. Does the rest of the state consider Colorado and GCU their rivals too? Will you be posting on their articles?

I hope The U enjoys their new rivals, Grand Canyon University and Colorado.

Good luck to the Utes over the next two weeks! Let's go BOWLING!

@Chris, you are right about the number of picks that Halliday throws but you forgot (or just wanted to spin) to mention that he throws a TON of touchdowns. He has thrown 22 TD's and 19 picks and his QBR is at 123.9.

If Utah can catch an interception, they might win this. BUT, with the game at WSU and them fighting to become bowl eligible, I think WSU wins.

However, I will "mark it down."

Let's all sing along now, "I'll be home for Christmas, you can count on that…"

I just don't see any way Utah wins either of these games. They better start using some of that BCS money that the real Pac 12 teams are earning for them and go on a HUGE recruiting trip.

Sad to see Wilson out like this and I hope he can make it back.

  • Adirondack Cougar Loon Lake, NY

Read between the lines. NEED to establish the run because we don't have a passing game. I see this as a 50-50 chance for a win. If Utah can get a lead early they can win, but if they fall behind and have to go to the pass they probably don't win. They also need this game as badly as the Utes do, so I don't expect either team to roll over.

    @Chris B:

I remember how exciting it was to have Travis Wilson participate in Trent Dilfer's QB competition. It seemed like we were finally on the cusp of some great things at the QB position. Dennis Erickson isn't expressing confidence in the current QB pipeline now that Travis is down.

As proud members of the PAC-12, can you explain to me why we're having such a hard time recruiting a four-star QB? Given the current QB status, do you think we can find someone with four stars (five would be ok, too) who's interested in coming to the U with a good chance of playing early? Are you hearing any rumblings? It seems our lack of great QB recruits would also hamper our ability to get great WR recruits. Any thoughts or inside knowledge about what the staff is doing?

I just don't see any way we lose these next two. Washington State's QB throws a TON of picks, which will help our defense which doesn't get many picks.

I think the biggest key will be our defensive line destroying their offensive line. Their QB isn't going to have the time he's used to be able to make the throws he wants.

After that, its our big rivalry game.

Utah WILL finish the regular season 6-6. Mark it Down.

Anyone who doubts that, get the crow ready.

Go UTES! Still love the way you guys are fighting. Proud Ute, Proud Pac 12 member.
