I'll take a 10% chance of beating a powerhouse team over a 90% chance of
beating a division II team on senior day, ANY DAY!Since Utah beat
Stanford, and Virginia(still only 1 division 1 win), I figure neither these
games are 100%. Go Utes!
Defense looking SOLID as usual

ChrisBwhat's your prediction?I predict Oregon 78 Utah 3
Isn't it funny how byu fans are suddenly fans of a lot of Pac 12 teams?
Since they can't beat us, they cheer for teams that can

Chris....guess who Utah plays their first game of the season next year....?
Idaho State...be careful what you say.
@ChrisBCould also quote all day the great things "commentators"
say about the Y too.
@ChrisB"'ll take a 10% chance of beating a powerhouse team over a
90% chance of beating a division II team on senior day, ANY DAY!" so
how about that Weber State game huh? wasn't that a high school team? lol
Reilly is the best linebacker in the state, hands down.
So far the only reason Utah's move to the PAC has been good has been the
money. Regarding the level of play they are putting out, they should have
stayed in the MWC. Just sayin'.
Guys have come out swinging. The attitude these guys have is impressive. Love
the way they just fight fight fight!
@ Ken....You're right. I'll cheer for anyone who plays
against the Utes. @Chris BYou and other Ute fans are
irritated when BYU supporters post on Ute articles. Why, then, are you bashing
BYU in a comments section about the Ute getting beat up by Oregon? Pain
avoidance is just that...avoidance.GO DUCKS!
Touchdown!!!10-7Long Live the Pac 12 Utes!
@StaytheCourse,It's 10-7 almost halftime. Whittingham has 2(and soon to be 3 with Stanford) wins against END of season

With that touchdown, we will be playing in the Rose bowl for the NC. Our defense
is so good, all the polls will now vote us number one!
Well, aaahhhhhhh, so much for our wonderful defense. I guess the players heard
all the sports guys talking and got caught up in the talk and were wondering who
they were talking about and started looking around and got caught with their
10 point game halftime. Utah playing great. Couldn't be more
positive about future
Oregon has 10 rushing yards at halftime. 10! This is a top 10 defense Sitaki has
put together. If only our offense matched.
Idaho State has more first half rushing yards against byu than Oregon has
Crazy to think this wouldn't even be our best win of the season, if we can
pull it out. Go Utes! Onward and upward

I'm going to start it. It is time the University of Utah finds
a new head coach. Kyle has taken Utah as far as they are going to go.
Safety!Utes down by 1.I TOLD you we could do this

want him for LIFE.Give Whittingham a 20 year extension!
That u special teams is very special!!!
I see a moral victory coming on
Where is Hadley?Ducks are lighting up that top 10 D in the country through
the air though lol
Good thing oregon didnt make it to the championship game because Alabama would
have dismantled them... They are currently proving that they can barely squeak
out a win against one of the worst teams in the PAC. Now there can be a team
with a legit shot at beating the stupid SEC.
Hey Chris B, Miami - Duke is entertaining if you get board.
"Idaho State has more first half rushing yards against byu than Oregon has
Chris B logic:Stanford is better than Oregon who is better than Utah
who is better than Stanford who is better than Oregon who is better than Utah
who is better than Stanford......Looks like an illogical infinity
Well, credit the utes for hanging for a half, but other teams have hung with
Oregon for a half...Washington, UCLA. In the end Oregon takes teams to the
woodshed in the second half. Lotta heart Utah, very impressed with the utes
defense. Oregon is just too good a team in the end for most teams. Good luck
against WSU and Colorado to get bowl eligible.
Moral victories are achieved by teams that think halftime scores mean things are
good. Losing by 30 is as close to a moral victory Utah has.And now
Washington State and Colorado are looking like a 6-6 season is impossible.
Fans leaving the stadium.Oregon's backup players are in.Announcers are talking about Italian food. And that's a
I'm surprised Oregon isn't doing what they usually do. Mariota out of
the game and 2nd stringers in on defense, giving the utes some cosmetic love. I
think this is the first time I've seen Oregon lay off and do the classy
thing when they're ONLY up by 30.
It would be funny but you Ute fans are so illogical and ignorant, meaning
uninformed, that it is just sad. Utah defense is pretty good, but do you think
maybe Mariotta's injury has something to do with the low rushing yards.
Also, Chris B, the BYU score was 49-3 at the half and the starters on offense
were already out of the game before halftime. Who cares how many yards rushing
Idaho State had. Also, you played Weber State earlier this year, so the Utes
can't say much about playing a 1AA team...not Division II, by the way. I
just wish you guys would learn a little about football. You don't even
know the proper classifications for teams. The bottom line is you still got
crushed by Oregon and now have no chance at a bowl game. Mark it down, no
matter what happens in the next 2 weeks, Utes are not going bowling.
KenSandy, UTbyu fans - where did you go?? Utes showing why we were

early on and then see the u fans just disappearabout the time the team
decided to disappear. But I have to admit I predicted the Ducks by 50 and
they only won by 30,(with their 2nd string) so I will eat my humble pie but
will save it for the bowl season while I am watching the Cougars play their bowl
Oregon usually doesn't call off the dogs because they're trying to
influence polls and computers to try to get into the BCS championship game.
With that hope gone for this year, they started slow, hit their stride and then
put it back in neutral at the end.
To the biased deseret news moderators why is this comment off topic For a team
that is supposedly irrelevant you trolls are sure talking a lot about BYU on a

@kenCan you deny that you cheer for every BYU opponent? What goes

How is it that a defense giving up 44 points is said to be stellar?
Utah could still end up bowl eligible. Washington State and Colorado - it
could happen.Sorry for Ute fans' disappointments - you've
had a lot of injuries and still hang in there with a lot of heart.
ModeratePlease do. I'm sure the FCC will love to hear from you.BYU gets a lot more attention on these threads and they get a lot more
attention on national TV. It is not BYU fault that utah can not get any
respect. I mean we give you a freebie every year and u can do nothing with it.
Downunder,Oregon called off the dogs and coasted to a 30 point win. If
they would have kept the pedal down the whole game it would have been a 50
point win so were would have been correct.I really enjoyed watching CB get
all excited about a win only to see his dreams go up in smoke
Once again the Utes show they aren't for real and can't compete in the
PAC 12. It's almost a certainty that they won't go bowling again. The
lack of a quality D1 QB has been exploited. As we watch Washington State get
better each week (beating Arizona today), I guess Colorado will be the bowl
@ Where is Hadley? You spelled your DC name wrong. It's Sitake not
'SITAKI'. Oh and by the way he's a BYU alum thank goodness for
Notice how Ken and Chris go conspicuously absent after the end of most Utah
games? Could someone pleeeeeease tell me why that is?
Chris, Yes, Pulverized!! That sounds like it was not as close as a 30 point
loss. I am guessing that if the Ducks would have kept their starters in the
whole game it would have been much worse.Let's see if I can
keep this straight; Utah has an injured qb and loses 4 straight or was it 5?Oregon has and injured qb and the PULVERIZE the utes by 30. I guess that
describes the difference between a real pac qb and what u has.
Does Chris b remember when utah played weber st byu was playing Texas. Bottom
line byu won again and utah lost again. I'm glad you guys would rather be
4-6 in the PAC. Byu is 7-3 with wins over Texas Boise ga tech and soon Norte
dame. The only thing whit can do is beat byu because that's all he cares
about. Bronco has shown to be a much better overall coach!!! No question about
it. The records and rankings don't lie.
I predicted 63-3. I apologize I was wrong. I'll make another prediction:utah 0-2 in their last two games of the season.
Wow. BYU fans coming on the Utes article after Utah plays the number 6 team in
the country and talks trash? Really? Who did you guys play today? Another
team ranked last of the 129 teams that play in Division 1 football. Maybe
before you talk trash, we should see if you have earned the right to against
your rivals. And how was that? Another Utah victory over BYU, for the 4th
straight year, 5 out of 6, 9 out of 12, and overall 57-34-4.BYU
fans, you look like fools when you come onto articles on Utah football and
disrespect them. Remember: Utah owns BYU.
It is obvious Oregon is not all they were made out to be if Utah can finish
within 24 points of them. pac12 is over rated.
@DavidGet in a legitimate conference then pop off. Utah has beaten
the Y four years in a row by golly. Can't wait for 2016 to pound the Y
again. Until then, quite please.
I feel bad for Utah. Chris B? Not so much.
No bowling for u again. Have a merry Christmas ... At home again!
Funny, the last time BYU played Oregon they whooped them 38-8. Utah, who has
played in the league 3 years, gets blown out of the duck pond. 3 years and
getting blown out in most of their games. Good news utes. You get
to stay home for Christmas with your team!
Ironic that the u's only win in their pathetic 1-6 campaign will help keep
the PAC out of the national championship picture.
Oregon is good...really good. Utah needed this year to beat the lesser Pac10
opponents but they couldn't get it done and close doesn't count. Kyle
has got to kick the program up a notch.
I admit I was wrong. I said it would take Utah 3 seasons to win 10 PAC 12
Conference games. Right now they have a total of 8 victories (7 at the end of
last season) and it looks likely that they will need 4 seasons unless somehow
they defeat both Washington State and Colorado. That scenario is looking pretty
slim right now, just like going to a bowl game this year. And that solitary win
is by a team that is supposedly better than last year's squad.Imagine, Ute partisans actually thought they could beat Oregon at home after
the Ducks lost last week and were plenty motivated.Gotta love this
PAC 12 Basement! That's why they were invited----the conference needed a
Put things in perspective. Here are the losses by all teams this year to
Oregon:Nicholls lost by 63Virginia lost by 49Tennessee
lost by 45California lost by 39Colorado lost by 41Washington
lost by 21Washington State lost by 24UCLA lost by 28Utah lost
by 23Other than Stanford, Oregon has PULVERIZED every team they have

was no worse than UCLA, Washington St., etc. against Oregon.
Chrisy B:Regarding your ISU comments, If true, then I hope you are
enjoying the loss. Oh, and good luck next year trying to beat ISU, the team you
mentioned in your post.
@GoRed"Wow. BYU fans coming on the Utes article after Utah [gets

approach. Given that most comments here aren't directed toward you
specifically, you might even go as far as to call out your fellow Ute fans who
choose to spread disrespect as well. Maybe you could make a difference.Just a thought.
"Other than Stanford, Oregon has PULVERIZED every team they have
played." That includes Utah. And if you take that type of
comparison, Utah is right there with Washington State, who the Utes play next
week in Washington. So all things being equal, expect WSU to win since they
have the home field advantage. That advantage has worked for everyone except
Utah, by the way, since they lost to the worst road team in America two years
ago and failed to get to the first conference playoff when the road was greased
for them. And they haven't exactly been victorious, the muss
notwithstanding, this year.....have they? Putting things into
perspective, the Utes don't belong in the PAC 12 conference...they're
not competitive enough unless the other team looks past them (ask Stanford about
that). They weren't competitive most of all the years they were in the WAC
or the MWC either. Occasionally they had a break-out year. Maybe they will
again, but don't bet the rent on it. (Ask Arizona all about the Rose Bowl.)
Colorado is shaping up to be the new rival---not anyone
else---rumble in the rockies, is it?
We got pummeled by a great team today. So 4-6 and looking at a tough road game

After all, there aren't any moral victories with this:Bottom

moral victories against Utah if you are a BYU fan.
It looks like there's a chance the Stanford might now end up in the top 10
at the end of the season, too.
Looking at Utelogy's schedule I see an 1-11 season next year. There are NO
winnable games outside of ISU.
I think the Utes split and miss the bowl game. I had them 6-6 but things are
So Utah and BYU dropped games against each other so one could play Idaho State

Oh dear, it looks like someone's bragging rights of having beat a top ten
team at the end of the season just went down the drain. Not sure about the
PAC12, one week a team is up and the next they are down and visa versa. The
only constants seem to be Alabama, Baylor and Wisconsin, if it weren't for
the horrible PAC 12 officials.
Utah will be hard pressed to beat WSU who just won at Arizona. This team is
getting worse. When does gymnastics start?Oh we'll, Go Seahawks
Utes FanAs usual, it's all about BYU for our BYU-obsessed
little brothers on the hill.Unfortunately for U, one game does not a

I'm going to go enjoy myself a hot pocket after the PAC 12 south leading
Devils took care of another team. From the looks of things, some people STILL
can't let go of BYU despite their PAC 12 membership. Go Devils!
I'm getting tired of all the ute fans saying "ya but we beat BYU",
"we have won 4 in a row". Ya Utah beat Alabama in 2008, U beat Stanford.
Yay good for you. The problem ute fans can't seem to wrap their heads
around is that they aren't better than those teams just because they beat
them head to head. Look, I don't know why BYU always struggles with Utah,
and seems snake bit by them, but both the eye test and expert rankings
don't seem to give a darn that U beat us head to head. They recognize who
the better program is over the season...three years straight now. Give whatever
excuses make U feel better but BYU knows how to progress and finish seasons and
U don't. And the SOS argument doesn't hold water this year...BYU 10th
ranked SOS so enough of that weak excuse. Maybe it will take 5 or 6 seasons of
5-7 & 6-6 before ute fans get it. Imagine how far in the dust we'd
leave Utah with Big 12 recruiting. It's no wonder CB & friends are so
hopeful that never happens.
Looks like Oregon barely squeaked past the soon to be former utes (which we all
know will soon be mandated by the big bad pac12 conference...). BTW, y'all
need to be thinking of a bird to replace it as Stanford has already grabbed
"The Cardinal"... I know, how about "The Pigeon"? Don't
believe that one's been taken yet.I really enjoyed the flow of
the comments... It all started out with "Utah has one of the top ten
defenses in the country" and then the likelihood of beating the Ducks went
from 10% to something greater... And then Poof the commenters all disappeared...
It was like watching David Copperfield... They're here and then
they're gone... ??? Oh well... prediction accuracy was never my ute
friend's strong suit. The comments that I get the biggest
chuckle out of are the ones that center around BYU losing 4 straight games to
the Pigeons (trying to get use to it)... Like "the Coug Seniors are
0-4"... It makes me think of the 80's when the Cougs went 18-2... Or,
it makes me think of the poor basketball seniors on the hill 1-11 over 7 years
against the Cougs... lol.
Utah fans: Your team already proved that it was better than BYU when u guys won
over byu like a bunch of times. Stop posting like it matters what byu fans be
saying cuz like "4/4 5/6 9/12" means that u are like better and that
even if ur school bit off more than it can chew in the pac12 that ur still
better cuz "bcs, 4-0, and even that one season where u beat BAMA".Good job utes.
Kyle: "Do you smell something burning?"Johnson and Erickson:
"Not our offense, it has been in a deep freeze the last 4 or 5
games."Sitake: "My tired defense is burnt out, they have done some
heavy lifting these last few weeks."Kyle: "I know that smell and
that isn't it. Whew! I am burning up now, are you guys sure something is
not catching fire?"The seat grows hotter on the hill. Another
missed bowl game and it gets even hotter. Next year will tell the tale of Kyle
W. and how long he stays.
Uteology,"We got pummeled by a great team today. So 4-6 and looking at
a tough road game next week."You can't stop at just that
game. Colorado pummeled the other of the PAC weaklings. Cal is officially the
worst team in the North. The game vs Colorado will be for who will NOT be the
worst team in the South, or the second worst team in the PAC. Utah will now be
playing for their dignity the rest of the way, cuz they are at the absolute
bottom, with Colorado showing they aren't the worst anymore.
worf Mcallen, TXUtah not winning many PAC 12 games, and
all their fans do is be critical of BYU.Go figure.-------Neither is BYU yet all their "fans" do is be talk smack about
Utah while hiding behind 6 built in wins each year.
Love the comments from Chris B on the first two pages. I marked them down.
GoRed - "Wow. BYU fans coming on the Utes article after Utah plays the
number 6 team in the country and talks trash? Really? Who did you guys play
today?"The same team U will play next year.
There's something really fun about a Ute train wreck and all the hysteria
that goes with it.Ute fans never fail to entertain.
Careful what you wish for...Is it possible that the Utes (and TCU)
will never get back to the glory days of BCS busting - with their medicore
records in a BCS conference? This year - this Ute team is good enough to be
undefeated in the mediocre and mid major MWC - with a win over BYU and most
likely TCU and BSU - the later 2 being in the BCS busting club as well.
Undefeated, albeit with a much lower strength of schedule due to Pac 12, vs. MWC
- they would probably be sporting a top 15 ranking - maybe higher. And the talk
of ESPN sports center about a potential BCS bid. The old adage - if
you can't beat em, join em - was not the battle cry of the busters, but of
the conferences who got tired of seeing their big payday going to an upstart,
mid major. So they pulled in Utah, TCU and well, problem solved. I
personally miss the days of BSU, TCU, BYU and Utah - battling for a BCS bid,
even though it was an at large invite.
Well Utah! It looks like USC is the better team. Congrats to USC beating
Stanford AND utah. I guess Standford is just a middle of the Pac type team.
Uteology:Regarding next year's schedule, the official site of
Utah athletics says you play Idaho State at home on August 28, 2014. Why does
it not surprise me that some Ute fans don't know this? It's
yet another example of how for most Ute fans, it's all about BYU; they
couldn't care less what Utah does, except when they play the hated Cougars.
It's going to be a looong season for Whittingham next year when he
doesn't have a BYU game to distract his fans from the downward trajectory
of the program.
I don't usually post on my alma mater's sports, but Utah gloats about
the Conference of Champions and all they can brag about is beating BYU, in
football while there's no mention of hoops. Strange shift in focus indeed.
Lets be real here. Do we really think that BYU could do any better? Look how
many points we allowed to a speedy team in Houston, now if we played a speedy
team in Oregon, our defense can't keep up with their offense and Oregon
defense is much better then Houston. I am a huge BYU fan but I
don't discredit the Utes when they play teams as good as UCLA, Oregon,
Stanford Etc. We struggled against a ranked team in Wisconsin, but
beat a good Texas team so lets get off our high horse and understand we
couldn't do any beter facing these teams week in and week out.
@tferIt got and angst filled reply out of you. While I was being
sarcastic there is some truth to it. stanford lost again last night, that means
they have lost to 2 unranked teams, one with a losing record, so it isn't
to hard to surmise they are a fraud as far as being in the "top 5" or
for that matter even the "top 10" is concerned. oregon also lost, to a
team that has lost twice to a couple of subpar teams. If they were really
everything everyone had claimed they would not have lost. No one in
the pac12 has beaten anyone that even vaguely resembles a top 10 team unless you
count asu's fraud "win" over wisconsin and of course wisconsin
isn't a top 10 team anyway.Really all we have heard is how good
the pac12 is but we have no proof of it, just claims. Then of course the fact
that they haven't beaten anyone else, and keep losing to low rent teams in
their own conference tells us far more than the claims tell us.
Utah in the PAC-10.2 is starting to remind me of the old Mountain West team that
always was a sub-.500 team but would find a way every year to pull off a bind
side big upset victory at home.Stanford looked past the Utes and
that was a mistake. Just because they are cellar dwellers doesn't mean
that they can't come up and bite a bowl bound team.Congratulations Utah for being the Wyoming of the PAC-10.2.Hopefully, the Utes can pull out a victory over Colorado at home so the
won't be totally buried in last place and be dropped to New Mexico status.
Wow, all the U haters (AKA fans of the Team Down South) are really something.
Yes Utah lost to #6 Oregon in Eugene. Pray tell what team hasn't gone to
Eugene and come out with a loss the last couple of years? It's one of the
toughest places to play in the country. It's easy for Y fans with their
mid major schedule to laugh at a team with a top 5 toughest schedule when your
team plays IDAHO STATE in November. Really, who has the Y beat this season
that is all that? Texas, that just got beat six ways from Sunday by OSU?
Houston, please, a one point eek out win against a fellow mid major? Utah has
been very average this year playing very above average competition. When they
have played weaker teams such as Weber State and BYU they won easily. Yes BYU
fans, your team was the second biggest patsy Utah faced this year. Puff your
chests up on that. Maybe wait until your team actually beats Utah in this
decade before you act so high and mighty. The illogic of Y fan never ceases to
@pebbles"Pray tell what team hasn't gone to Eugene and come
out with a loss the last couple of years? It's one of the toughest places
to play in the country."Let's change that just a little bit
and compare it to what utah "fans" were telling us about BYU's loss
at wisconsin last week."Pray tell what team hasn't gone to
camp randle and come out with a loss the last couple of years? It's one of
the toughest places to play in the country."So last week BYU
lost at wisconsin, a place almost no one has won in years, yet utah
"fans" were hardly allowing BYU fans to use that as an excuse. But now
we see utah "fans" trying to make a similar excuse because of course
this week it was utah losing on the road in a tough place to play. Hypocrisy is
alive and well on the hill, of course it always has been. LOL!
Pebbles:First of all U didn't beat BYU easily...U were a phantom
holding call on a kick off return from going to OT. U were beat in total yards
again, so please stop acting all "high and mighty" about your squeaker
against BYU. The second biggest patsy? LOL! I guess BYU taking USU to the
woodshed on THEIR field even with Keeton in the game makes that statement
ridiculous. BYU went on the road and lost respectably against a team I guarantee
could line it up with ANYONE in the PAC. And again...not to beat a dead horse
but BYUs SOS is 10th so please drop the weak SOS arguments. I love how uties
make fun of BYU for playing Idaho State...completely having amnesia to the fact
they played a worse Weber State team, and lined up the same Idaho State game to
start their 2014 debacle (and yes, we already know 2014 will be just that). Good
luck against that juggernaut from Boulder...you know, you're patsy pillow
fight/bowl game against one of the weakest FBS programs in America...ya no
patsies on your schedule is there?
pebblesWhen your team is 1-6 in a conference there is no getting
around it, your team stinks. And when the OOC team you play and defeat plays
better overall... your team's performance still stinks. These
are just simple facts. The only problem with this is that one team's
fanbase has been telling the other fanbase for four years how great and fun
it's been being invited and participating in said conference. It's obvious you're not having fun.And by the way...
I'm not nor is anyone else puffing their chests about BYU's
performance. It is what it is.Ute fanbase is at DEFCON 2. LOL
I feel bad, three of us ganged up on pebbles within 6 minutes of one another.
LOLAnd please forgive me... I (heart) Ute football, Ute fans, PAC 10
football, etc.Kind of reminds me of a song..."It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"
Both teams are being stupid right now. BYU couldn't do any better with
Utah schedule and Utah would be doing what BYU is doing with their schedule. If
everyone would quit acting "high and mighty" maybe these comment boards
wouldn't be worth reading couple times a day. There is a lot of people on
here who have no idea what anyone is talking about. Seriously the dumbest
comments are made on here.I like USU because they stay out of this
@WldflwrUmmm you're forgetting the Noles, who are quietly just
destroying everyone in their path.
Utes are piling up the moral victories though, I do applaud U for that, clap
Just saw last night's SNL satirical commercial sketch on how Pres. Obama
copes with all the depression of his scandals... Paxil: Second Term Strength.
(hilarious stuff, you gotta see this)Thinking that maybe there could
be a 'Third Season Strength' for all of my Ute 'friends'.
@ DuckhunterI'm not sure you know what angst means... Either
way, it's a pretty sad justification for doing what you're doing.Anybody can beat anybody on any given Saturday. Every season in college
football sees a few really good teams stumble in the name of an upset. Utah is
not as bad as you want them to be and USC has been a much stronger team as well
since the firing of Kiffin. It would not surprise me to see the Trojans finish
the season with a top 20 ranking.
@utieologyWho were the 6 built in wins? Virginia? We lost... Utah?
Again we lost with the infamous pac12 officiating fix team calling the game...
Middle Tennessee? We did beat them and they are 6-4 on the season and second in
their division of CUSA behind East Carolina who has killed NC this year ( a BCS
team who is a half game behind Duke for Leadership in the ACC Coastal
Division)... Idaho State was a gimmee (similar to Weber State for the Pigeons, I
mean the utes)... Other than that you would have to be saying that Texas, Boise
State, Georgia Tech, Utah State, Houston and maybe ND and Nevada were built in
wins... All of which would beat utah today. The truth is that the
Pigeons, I mean the utes have 2 decent wins this year (BYU and Stanford) and
both were near losses... That's it... That's all they have... Pretty
tough to legitimately defend that record don't ya think???I
like Coach Whittingham (I love the college he attended) and I don't want to
see him lose his job... But the truth is that his teams have been the doormat
for the Conference since Utah joined.
All of that yapping at the door of the PAC 12 is annoying. Somebody throw them a
bone and congratulate them on their domination of ISU.
I'm sorry jazzer and provoutefan but y'all are dead wrong... BYU has
always been more successful against pac10 opponents than the utes have been and
that trend would have continued this year... Had we played the ute schedule we
would have finished Bowl eligible...Who would we have beaten? OSU,
Arizona, maybe UCLA, split with ASU and USC, (and if Stanford played like they
played against Utah we would have got them as well), plus we would get WSU and
Colorado in addition to USU and Weber State... BYU would have gotten 7 or 8 wins
and would be Bowling in December. On the other hand the Pigeons, I
mean the utes would still not have gone bowling had they played the Cougs
schedule... They possibly would have beaten Middle Tennessee and probably Idaho
State and maybe Nevada in addition to their USU and BYU wins but that would have
been it. That makes a 4-8 or 5-7 season.
Had to work and couldn't watch the game. Tough loss, although not
unexpected. Oregon has the best team in the country at closing out games. Utah
really could have used someone from their offensive staff in the second half of
the Arizona, Arizona State and Oregon State games. Important game next week,
Wazzu won't be the pushovers they were last year, especially not on the
poyman,Your way off...byu can't beat anybody that beat Utah if
byu can't beat Utah. It's obvious who the relevant program is when all
of you guys are hanging out here after a Utah loss and non of you commented on
the big byu win.
Proclaiming that byu would win out if they played Utah's schedule is as
silly as the proclamations that were made before Virginia-byu and Utah-byu.
ekuteSome train wrecks are 'better' than others and
require more coverage.
@2ferI know perfectly well what "angst" means, it is what
Utah "fans" are feeling at this time. And of course I agree with you
that anyone can beat anybody on a given Saturday, utah beat both BYU and
Stanford, teams that are better than they are. But regardless of all that I am
correct, Stanford is obviously not top 5, not with losses to two unranked teams,
one a decided multi season loser. Kinda like when BYU beat texas isn't it?
Surely you remember that, Utah "fans" claiming texas must not be any
good, etc. What goes around comes around.
Utes FanSalt Lake City, and thats the only thing that fans like u care
about we beat BYU 4 yrs in a row so thats our season we played our bowl game ,we
can lose evrery game now and we will all be haappy becuz we beat byu whoopee
Sammy,What moniker shall we put on byu since their a perennial loser
to a "train wreck", nobody wants them and they were just relegated to
signing an agreement with the lowest tier bowl possible?moderateinmagna,It's a sad fan base that celebrates a loss by
the team that their team can't beat to the point of singing Christmas

will define their season. Another appearance in a prearranged bowl game.
Wow. A lot of bitter people here.Guess what folks. The sun is
gonna come up tomorrow and my life hasn't changed because BYU won or Utah
lost. It's a game. You all need to get over yourselves a little. It's the "fans" like these that have made sports become so
unenjoyable for the rest of us.
Will Major Winchester and his little buddy Frank Burns ever stop with their digs
at the Utes?I believe that the Failure of their to to beat the Utes and the
whole Pac 12 thing has really gotten under their skin! BTW, the best train wreck
ever was the Crowton years.
The constant comparison between Utah and Byu gets so old. The same people
making the same argument week in and week out.As for the Utes, they
did better than I thought they would against Oregon especially with Schultz
getting his first start of the year. Adam did pretty good in a hostile
environment. There were actually a lot of dropped balls that should have been
caught not that would have made a difference in the outcome but it would have
helped his confidence. I'm not sure of the extent of Wilson's injury,
but I hope he is ok. He has had a tough second half of the season. On the bright side, it was great to see Jake Murphy back in the line up. That
kid is a very talented player and has been missed for the last few months of
games. Oregon is a great team and I really hope they can get a
chance to play in the National Championship game this year. I still can't
figure out how Stanford beat them.
WAC Paddled my Utes last year"... prearranged bowl game"It sure is a bitter pill isn't it? Beating your rival yet failing
to launch in your conference... again. And the best that can be said
for failure for this season is dissing BYU's bowl tie in. That's some weak sauce. And if the U gets 2 more wins???
Probably not going to bowl anyway.Talk about pathetic.
Weak sauce? Still singing Christmas songs?
quote: byu can't beat anybody that beat Utah if byu can't beat
Utah.so it must logically follow "Stanford can't beat
anybody that beat Utah if Stanford can't beat Utah." ?Got
byu is no Stanford. Try NMS.
If a 1-6 conf. record is good according to Ute fans lol Then a 7-3 record is
ekuteaccording to your theory -"Your way off...byu
can't beat anybody that beat Utah if byu can't beat Utah. " there was no chance Oregon was supposed to win against Utah. Because Oregon can't beat anybody that beat Stanford if Oregon can't
beat Stanford...But wait Oregon just beat the Utes. Football games
are never black and white, crazy things happen that's why you have to look
at the whole season to decide which team is better. And In that regard BYU has
been more consistent at beating good teams, true they have had some bad games
against Utah and Virginia(first game of the season, young QB, new offense).
Wisconsin was plain and simple the better team. Also BYU has been
improving the whole season, If BYU and Utah were to meet up im confident BYU
To the true Ute fans, I am sorry about how the last two seasons have gone. I
love your coaching staff and you definitely have some talented players on your
team. I hope Coach Whittingham can pull the team out of this nose-dive next
year.As for the BYU haters who pose as Ute fans (Chris B), well not
much to say, maybe this season will help you stop being so arrogant about the
Pac-12 and stop disparaging the other teams in Utah, namely BYU and USU.
So..."...pulverized..."...has morphed into
@ poymanIf BYU had to play week in and week out these teams I
don't think we could do as well as Utah. It takes depth to win in Pac 12
we are no more deep then Utah.
@jazzer"we are no more deep then Utah."That
depends on the position. AT QB, RB, WR, TE, and LB, BYU has far more depth than
utah has. BYU has had key injuries at all of those positions other than QB and
still has some excellent players playing them, they actually have a lot of depth
in those positions. At DL, OL, they are probably about the same and I would say
BYU probably has more depth at DB as well which is surprising.Just
look at the rosters and which team has been able to fill in for its injured
players at each position more successfully and it is quite easy to see BYU has
better depth overall. Now that doesn't mean BYU has better front end talent
at all of those positions, they are just deeper and have more talent at a deeper
@duckhunterI love the cougs but Wisconsin depth, power and speed was
just too much for us to handle. I think most pac 12 teams are going to be like
them. I would like to think we are better then the Utes but I don't blame
them for gettting beat. The Pac, SEC etc all have 3 positions deep of bigger,
stronger faster guys. go cougs!
@jazzerBut you weren't comparing BYU to wisconsin, you were
comparing them to utah. wisconsin was a better team than bYU, hands down, but
your comment was a comparison of the depth of talent BYU and utah have. In that
comparison BYU has better depth than utah does at most positions. When Hadley got suspended BYU just plugged in another guy. When Jordenson went
down for the season BYU just plugged in another guy. Ditto at wr, rb, and te.
Even at DB byu has had major injuries and their db's have still played
pretty well and they've got some more guys on the bench that can play. Depth of players is a different thing than first team talent. BYU has
had good players to replace the ones they've lost, that equates to good
depth. utah on the other hand has not been able to adequately replace players
they have lost to injury and that is probably the biggest reason they are 4-6.
@duckhunterAll I'm trying to say is we wouldn't do any
better. I don't like Utah, I love when they lose but I'm not
confident enough to say we could beat teams week in and week out. If kvn gets hurts or Hoffman we have no one even close to their skill where as
Ucla, USC etc are 2 or 3 deep at wr.
1-6 in PAC 12 play?!??? Three years in!!! We have nearly cemented our status
as conference doormat in football. It is time for a change. I was excited as
anyone when we were invited to the PAC 12 (and BYU was left out), but it sure
looks silly to brag about our conference affiliation when we are so clearly
outmatched and outcoached week in and week out. And while I did have hope that
the conference affiliation and money would push us upward, the reality is
looking more like we are becoming another Arizona (just as Colorado is). Sure, we beat BYU the last four years, but we have been underdogs in
some of those games (i.e. they were upsets). Why should we ever be an underdog
against BYU? Why should we be ranked lower than BYU? And we are
0-7 against BYU in basketball...were we favored in any of those games? Their
basketball dominance is one reason why BYU has taken home more Deseret First
Duel trophies. We need change. Whit needs to go, and Chris Hill
needs to go. I reserve judgment on the Utah Coach K, but I don't have high
jazzer"All I'm trying to say is we wouldn't do any
better."You have no way of knowing that. In fact, the evidence
directly contradicts it.Bronco is 9-8(53%) versus PAC teamsKyle is 12-20(38%)Bronco has beaten Washington(2-0) and
Oregon(1-0)Kyle is winless versus Washington(0-2) and Oregon(0-1)Bronco was undefeated versus MWC bottom dwellers New Mexico, CSU, Wyoming, and
UNLVKyle lost to every one of them, including a 0-27 shutout to
UNLV(2-10)Bronco won two MWC championshipsKyle only oneBronco had three 11-win, Top 15 seasonsKyle only oneBronco has five 10-win seasonsKyle only threeBronco has
simply been better at the weekly grind that it takes to be competitive in a
conference, than Kyle.
@ DeepBlueTo be fair, Bronco hasn't gone up against the elite
teams in the PAC. The 7-6 Oregon team in '06 isn't comparable to
Oregon today because the Ducks have evolved into a top 10 program. Same with UW.
The Huskies were 0-12 the first time Bronco beat them.Whatever
happened in 2007 (and before) is completely irrelevant and has no bearing on
what is happening now. The MWC days are long gone for both programs.Plus I think you're forgetting that Bronco, this season, lost to
Virginia. They are a bottom-dweller if there ever was one. That fact alone
pretty much blows up your whole argument.
I don't normally comment on Ute articles, but curiosity brought me here
(and seeing how many comments there were; it essentially became another BYU-Utah
brawl article).Anyway, I don't blame the Utes for losing.
Nobody really expected the Utes to beat Oregon. Don't laugh at them for
losing to Oregon; BYU would have almost certainly been beat just as bad.But the Ute fans calling out BYU for playing Idaho State are very
hypocritical. First of all, while BYU was beating up Texas, Utah was playing
Weber State. Secondly, Utah plays Idaho State next year. Also, I
realize that we'll never know how well BYU would have done in the PAC, but
since BYU's SOS is top 25 and they STILL have 7 wins (and ESPN says BYU is
better than their record), that says a lot.@TwoForFlinching"Plus I think you're forgetting that Bronco, this season, lost to
Virginia. They are a bottom-dweller if there ever was one. That fact alone
pretty much blows up your whole argument."There's a HUGE
difference between losing to a bottom feeder the first game of the season as
opposed to late in the season.
