BYU has always had a tough time playing St Marys. Looks like they are a tougher team this year than in years past. Appears they are a very balanced team with players who can score and play defense. They win against Stanford was a good win against a PAC 12 team.

@panama
This is not the St Mary's of the WCC. This is Mount St Mary's from Pennsylvania.

I am impressed how the Cougars haven't missed a beat with Haws on the bench. You could make the argument they even play better as a team when everyone carrying an equal load of the scoring.

Also impressed with Bartley.

Also very impressed with how well Mikka runs the floor. I don't think I have seen a BYU team with so many dunks in one game.

I like Carlino, but he still needs to learn to take what is given to him. I think he presses too much when they're not dropping for him. It's like he is bent on getting his points. He is a terrific rebounder and most of the time his passing is brilliant. I think his stock would rise if he had a little more John Stockton in him and a little less Kobe Bryant.

The Cougs continue to look much better and deeper than I expected. Tomorrow's game should be another "walk in the park". But I can't wait to see how they do against Iowa St and the finals of the HoF Classic.

Mika continues to impress. He's the best freshman we've had in decades. Winder, Bartley and Halford looked great tonight. Carlino did a lot of things well, but his shot tonight looked too much like last year.

Overall, a great tune-up for the Cougs in what promises to be a great season.

What a great time to be a BYU fan! This team is on a roll. Back to back 100 point games with probably another coming tomorrow night. This is going to be a special team. Great chemistry and great depth. Coach Rose and the staff are doing a great job building a great program. The Cougars are going to be good for many years to come.

Go Cougars!

The only real concern from this game was the poor free throw shooting. That really needs to improve.

I'm trying not to get too optimistic too soon, but this team really does look to have a lot of depth. Halford, Bartley, Winder...very impressive performances from those guys tonight. Austin seems to have improved his game. Collinsworth looks great. Mika is much more than can be expected from a Freshman. This team could be very special. Still a long way to go, however.

CougFaninTX-- Yes, I thought that too about Carlino. It's almost as though he was on a mission to have the spotlight fall on him in the absence of Haws. He really plays so much better when not out to prove something. I hope he learns this lesson and allows the game to come to him. We're all glad he's on our team and he was impressive at Stanford. Now if he can just play and quit trying so hard. I like what idablue said about more Stockton less Kobe. Perhaps someone needs to get that message to him along with some old Stockton video. I'm certainly excited about this season.

Looking forward to hearing more about how serious the injury is. Hope it isn't!

.603 from the field. .600 from the free throw line. Real, boys?! If there is anything to complain about with this team, those two numbers emphasize it.

The three highest scorers were impressive and I'm glad they brought great effort to the floor. The next three were expected to be the high scorers. Carlino should have been the high scorer, but when he plays as though he has to do it all, he plays his worst game. He loses his composure and control, and as a result he shows little effectiveness. He has teammates out there, but he doesn't focus on them. We saw this so often last year. He can be most effective at his own game as he works to make others better. Good luck Cougars. It's so fun to watch a team with so much depth. I'm excited for this year and next.

Sorry, Mount St Marys is in Maryland, not the same St Marys that is in the WCC. My bad.

Carlino seems to struggle with his shooting when it appears he thinks he has something to prove. Issue last night, proving he can carry the team if Haws is out. Don't worry about that, just play your game and let it come to you. If you think you have to score to prove you can or that you have to score a lot for the team to win, you will press your game and get tight.

Nice win but I fell asleep right about 12:00 at first half. Anyway, it was nice to see Mika and other young guys getting their minutes to practice on this real game. How about this, I don't fall asleep if those young FOOTBALL players show their stuff including this young Olson qb play against Idaho State today? We would like to see who are our future players going to be to replace KVN, C. Hoffman and S. Hadley. Well, I might be in bed before Mesa team tonight. Lol! Go Cougars!

Like all the rest of the posters I'm encouraged and excited about this team. That said I agree with others that the free throw shooting has got to improve when we play tougher opponents. What hasn't been mentioned, and it think may be more important than the free throw shooting is the defensive rebounding. BYU still gives too many second and third chances to teams by not rebounding well. This was a problem last year, and needs to improve this year if this team is to go as far as we hope. The great teams hold their opponents to one and done shots because they clean up the defensive boards.

GO COUGS!!

I've never seen a BYU team as balanced as they appear to be so far this year. Rose is bringing back Phi Slamma Jamma. And the new rules will help a lot. I really loved Bartley. Wow, he's gonna be great. Mica? I can't believe he's a freshman. Serious hops and very quick. Collinsworth and Haws will be great together. Winder and Carlino? Lookin' good. Carlino got a little out of sorts last night but will be fine. I loved the 4-guard lineup ... and the speed! These guys can hoop!

Opponents won't be able to clog the middle like last year. The Bigs will have a lot more fun.

I'm hooked!

Thank you BYUtv. Thank you DirectTV. I'm set to record every game!

This attitude is why so many, even among active Mormons dislike BYU. If you want to be respected, start by showing some respect.

cval? I am not sure what you are even trying to say. What do you want the posters here to say? These BYU fans are cheering for their team. I am not sure what you are doing. Do we want posters to come on and say things like "BYU is only mediocre. But, have you seen some of the other Utah teams? How bout dem Jazz. Oh and SUU, they have a team don't they?...." They are cheering for their team, and made no mention of any other team. Please avoid vociferous vendettas.
