Yep, picked a perfect 3AA Bracket. It is a different game come playoff time
folks. A different game. The season means nothing when you make it to the
playoffs. It will be a great game with D.Hills and Pine View. I like D. Hills
to get it done.
Well SouthFan, it looks like I know more about the Southern football regions
then you do so far. DH is up with 5 to go.
@amanapHurricane Defense was legit those games, all I meant to say
was JD can still find ways to run the ball with a loaded box, that all I meant.
@MykalJordanI'm not sure what you mean by "just ask
Hurricane" about loading the box? All 3 games were defensive affairs with
J.D. only scoring about 14 points per game and only winning by a combined total
of 8 points in all 3 games. You act like JD blew Hurricane out in those 3 title
games. Remember all 3 came down to the wire, Hurricane's D was legit
though, all 3 years.
@amorphousI'm a long time admirer of JD. I've met the
coaches, been on the campus and I've seen them play. Like I said,
it's truly one of the classiest and well run programs in the state. The
kids play with heart and discipline. I don't underestimate their ability
in the least. And, I'm not saying JD has no size. That said,
Parry has PV 4 power points higher. PV has a D1 kid at QB and some of the best
receivers in 3AA. If you don't cover well, they can put up points in a
hurry. They also have some size in the trenches, so they should be able to
match up there. Will they beat JD? I have no idea and I didn't say they
would. Personally I have always thought discipline was a problem for PV in the
past in big games. Could happen again this year. But, no one has yet given me
an obvious reason why Parry is wrong and a PV win is an upset.
@ mykaljordan,I have seen both teams play this year. In fact, I have seen
multiple 3AA as well as 4A games this year. I use stacked as a relative term.
JD is stacked in comparison to other teams at their level and even compared to
some larger schools. Whether or not kids play both ways may speak to the
volume of talent available, but, as a long time JD fan, you know that it has
more to do with the shear talent of the two way athlete in this case and the
coaches desire to have those players in position to make the biggest impact,
which is on the field.@ fender,Size? JD has it too. Along with
crisp, clean execution. My boys played at PV. We've lived through big
losses to Bear River, Logan, Timpview and a narrow heart breaker to Cottonwood.
I have many friends with kids on this PV squad and will be there in the stadium
cheering for them. But, having seen both teams play this year, though I am
pulling for PV, in my honest opinion they will have to play a flawless game and
JD will have to fall short of their best.
So, how do you beat PV? Run the ball well and put pressure on their QB. Juan
Diego does both well. 2-9 Hurricane scored 28 against PV last week running the
ball. I pick JD by 28 in this one. In the other 3AA semi, I pick Dixie by 10.
I've watched all the teams play in the South, so it will be Dixie and JD in
@Amorphous Can you explain your definition of Stacked? Because I
know that a lot of their players play both ways.
This should be a tight ball game, but a PV win certainly won't be an upset.
Parry has PV 4 power points higher according to this article. JD has one of
the best and classiest programs in Utah, but I don't see an obvious reason
why they're better than PV.This should be the most interesting
match-up in 3AA. The schemes are totally different kind of like the
Oregon-Stanford match-up. If PV gambles on man and plays without a safety, it
has the size to shut down JD's run game. IF that happens, the game could
turn out like it did in 2005 when PV beat JD 49-13 in the quarters at JD. PV
had a D1 QB that year as well. But, if JD can get into the secondary against a
loaded front or throw against the man coverage, it could get ugly for PV.
Make no mistake, my JD blind followers, JD is NOT the ultimate program this
year...East is. That said, it will be an upset if PV wins but mainly because of
the obvious advantage JD has every year for a school their size, they are a
private school that has zero boundary restrictions. Decades ago it used to be
Judge Memorial amongst the smaller schools, but JD has shifted the balance of
late, and they are, simply stated, LOADED. Yes, they are also well coached and
disciplined, but it's a lot easier to have those qualities when you're
@South fanyou seem to think that if PV wins, it wont be an upset,
and this is because of what again? because their from down south? year after
year JD has proven to be the team to beat. they have the highest winning
percentage in the state and its because of Hard work, dedication and Discipline.
give these boys their credit. PV is going to be tough, its going to be the
hardest game JD has had all season, and I believe the team with the least
mistakes wins. PV does have a very good QB he knows how to pick the secondary
apart when he has time. but he has also thrown 14 interceptions.JD has never
played a team like PV all year, but PV has also not played a team like JD.
JD's D-line is one of the fastest in this division and if they can get to
the QB a few times, that can change the whole outcome.@
southpride56the last time a team tried to load the box on JD.The
Soaring Eagle came home with the 3A state title. just ask hurricane.JD FAN TO THE FULLEST.
If PV can slow down JD's running game, that will give them an edge.
Specifically JD's corners have struggled from what I hear and PV has a very
good passing game. Of course the more up in the air, the higher % of possible
turnovers for JD to capture. I would not say JD is solid but I will say they are
a discipline football squad. In 3AA they seem to do well with very little
competition in region. They have not won a championship for a few years so I
gotta say this one is a toss up. But if you ask? JD has the edge.
Should be a good game for sure! Don't really know too much bout PV but I
hear they have a good passing game. Very excited to watch this game as I will be
there in person. May the best team win! Go JD!
PV needs to run the ball in this contest because when they do they are very hard
to stop. JD likes to take time off the clock on long drives. Load the box on
them and make them pass. PV has the athletes in the secondary to match up one
on one with them.
3AA will have some very good games... if I had two nickels to rub together I
would put em on JD in this contest.
Having seen both, JD has a much better defense. However, no one throws it as
well as PV. I like JD in a high scoring match up. If PV does pull it out, I
wouldn't consider it much of an upset. Should be fun to watch.
Pine View has a very well documented history of falling short of expectations.
Pine View has a chance to win, but make no mistake about it: a Pine View win
would be an upset. JD is the best coached, most disciplined team in the state
and it isn't even close. And to clarify, I don't like Juan Diego at
all, but I have a ton of respect for Juan Diego.
I hear ya south fan, but of course everyone up here would call P.View winning an
upset. So I have to call it that way due to records and JD probably favored by
the DNews sports gurus. And I know how good Dixie is on both sides of the ball,
but I think DHills has gotten a bit better with the short passing game to open
things up a bit. It is just a pick, doesn't mean I am right. I just think
as I said, this is the most exciting bracket of playoff football this year.
Pine View beating Juan Diego will not be an upset and Dixie has a very good run
defense and Desert Hills cant pass well.
This is my upset pick of the 3AA Bracket. I like Pine View. I think they are
going to have to play mistake free football to pull off the upset. But I like
Pine View in this one.I guess I have both upsets in the 3AA bracket,
I like Desert Hills to upset Dixie as well and then to win it all by beating
Pine View.I have been wrong before and could be wrong here as well.
This is what makes it fun. Good luck to all teams, these final four teams are
