@ JLFuller"BSU is 2 and 1 against BYU. Just saying..."Actually BSU is 3 and 1 against BYU. 2003 BSU 50 BYU 122004 BSU 28 BYU 272012 BSU 7 BYU 62013 BYU 37 BSU 20Just correcting the stats for you.
@ JLFuller"Boise State has never lost to Wisconsin"What does that have to do with anything? Utah has never lost to Alabama, what
is your point?
Am I the only one who thinks that Robert Anae chokes in big games. His play
calling was horrible. Go back to the Utah game. It was the same. This Guy
tightens up so much in big games that it's costing the Coogs big time.
Lets Hire an OC with some guts and get rid of the guy who swallows his playbook
in every big game!
From the latest Sagarin Ratings:BYU SOS #10 - So much for the weak
schedule argument.(BTW Utah SOS #1 - Congratulations)BYU #19
@6-3 (Wisconsin #7)5 of BYU's 6 wins are against teams in the
Sagarin top 40Georgia Tech #25Texas #31Houston #33Boise State #38Utah State #39This was a loss to a team the
should be in the top 10 (without PAC-12 officiating in the ASU game.)We got handled on the line of scrimmage both ways. This can be fixed through
development of players like Peoples, Kearsley and Hinds when he gets back from
his mission. No need to panic just congratulations to a great Wisconsin team
with a great coach.
I thought that for the most part, particularly on defense, BYU called the right
plays but, Wisconsin executed near perfection with a quarterback putting the
ball in a very small space on third and long on multiple occasions.A
couple of call overturns claiming passes were uncatchable where unfortunate but,
I still don't think the outcome of the game would have been different. I
also didn't like some of the conservative play calling when it came to
punting, once inside the Wisconsin 30 and another time when BYU was down three
posessions with about 9 minutes to play. And to the fool who
referenced recruiting star rankings: 3 stars isn't bad but, doesn't
come close to explaining Wisconsin's success in consistently being a
contender in the B1G.
Y-Ask-YWhy do Ute fans feel the need to come on every BYU story and make
it about them? Don't you have enough to do pushing for your team to emerge
in their wonderful new conference? Utah has not won a single FBS
game they have played this year decisively (more than 10 points), and in each
win, they were in fact lucky to win at all--or were pulled over the finish line
by their PAC ref squad. Doesn't that give you enough to do? Anything else
is pretty sad hypocrisy. Meanwhile, BYU has beaten four FBS teams,
all with winning records, decisively (USU by 17, BSU by 17, GT by 18, TEX by
19). And all these teams are vying for their conference titles--two of which
are BCS conferences.
GoRed, the answer is Houston. Does it hurt falling on your face like that?
Come on NevadaCoug. That logic only goes so far and depends on BYU being on par
with Stanford, and nobody in the nation believes that. Stanford's body of
work is much more significant than BYU's obviously. Utah and BYU are
fairly evenly matched and if they played again...who knows? My guess is that
oddsmakers would give Utah a slight edge, because of the win against a very
physical Stanford team, but no way Utah runs away with it. Utah earned its
bragging rights this year, so why not just concede that instead of going to the
GoRed, the third team would be Houston, which is a member of the American
Conference. The champion of that conference gets an automatic BCS bid.And since head-to-head is the only stat that counts, then Utah is definitely
better than Stanford. Right? Right? Everybody in the nation believes that!Un, nope. Only delusional Utah "fans".
@christyb and uteanymouschristyb claims that byu has beaten 3 BCS
teams this year. That would be Texas, Georgia Tech, and who? byu has beaten 2
BCS teams this year. Stretching your facts to prove your point only backfires
if they are not accurate. As to a byu fan crowing over their supposed
superiority over Utah, let's start with the only stat that counts:
head-to-head competition. How did byu do against Utah this year? Last year?
The year before? The year before that?
Let's see here. Boise State, a div 1AA program at the time, was beaten by 4
points. BYU a so called "serious" 1A program was beaten badly by... how
much was that again? Even BYU's coach said the Cougs were outclassed. And
just to clarify, BSU is 2 and 1 against BYU. Just saying...
JLFuller"Boise State has never lost to Wisconsin."Boise State is 0-1 versus Wisconsin, losing to the Badgers 24-28 on Sep 6,
1997.BYU is 1-1 versus Wisconsin, losing to the Badgers 17-27 in
2013, but stomping the Badgers in Camp Randall 28-3 on Sep 20, 1980.
I sat and watched every single play and was shaking my head back and forth, not
so much that the Cougars were getting beat, but by watching the talent of that
Wisconsin team. This was a great experience for our coaches and players. They
will continue to schedule tough teams like Wisconsin and they will inch
themselves closer and closer to match their physical style and athleticism. I
think the future is very bright as the Cougars move forward. They're
heading in the right direction, that's for sure.
Y ask Y? ... Because I'm a Cougar Fan. I love the Cougars, win or lose!
They're awesome. I can't resist saying something about them.
Apparently, you can't resist it either. It was a great game!
We'll continue to schedule tough teams for BYU to play. Losing to Wisconsin
isn't so painful, because Wisconsin's offensive line is awesome, and
their defense line is phenomenal. BYU could learn a few things about protection
from them. BYU needs to get rid of the ball faster, plain and simple.
That would have made the difference. Tight ends were very under-utilized. BYU
has been doing this all season. It works against weaker teams, but the lack of
blitzing, and conservative play-calling is getting old. As to the other
Y-haters, go find a team to root FOR!!! Try rooting for the U. Go to the next
article and post something there to explain why the U is so awesome and worth
watching. I'll never know the difference, because I don't care about
the U, like most people reading this article, I CAN READ, and no mention of the
U. In the meantime... GO COUGARS!
Boise State has never lost to Wisconsin.
However Cougar fans try to soothe the sting of this loss (they were dominated),
it still comes across as pathetic. It is good to see so many exercise
discretion and remain silent!
Talk about being over-matched and under-talented, the Utes are clearly in over
their heads in the PAC 12.Kyle is 12-19(39%) versus PAC 12 teams,
with three losing conference seasons.Bronco is 9-8(53%) versus PAC 12
As usual, my little sister is a little off on her assessments of talent and
achievements; let me set the record straight:Record versus BCS teams
this seasonBYU 3-3Utah 1-5
Byu's biggest problem is your players just aren't as talented. Yes,
there are a few good ones, but overall your lack of talent is EXPOSED when you
play good teams. Wisconsin's average recruiting class last 4
years: 3.0 starsbyu's average recruiting class last 4 years: 2.6
starsAs a point of reference, Alabama is a 3.7And before you
byu fans get all upset and tell me stars don't guarantee wins, let me say
this:Did I say stars guarantee wins? No, and guess what
else does NOT guarantee wins?Good coachingFast playersStrong playersGood game planSmart playersHard working
playersGood practicesYou going to try and pretend it
doesn't matter if a team doesn't do those things well? The
are many things that go into it, but having superior players is a HUGE part of
the game. And Wisconsin has superior athletes.
@My Perspective, I think you need to re-read the comment you're responding
too. Nowhere does it say byu beat themselves in those games. It just says in
those games byu wasn't overmatched, didn't play hard, and didn't
turn in a respectable performance. And no, those aren't the same thing.
Try again pal.
@MyPerspectiveBYU had Virginia until a fluke interception at the end
of the game. It is undeniable that BYU beat themselves in that game. With the massive improvement that BYU has made since the Utah game it is
completely understandable that BYU wants that one back.Wisconsin has
some excellent players and BYU was clearly over matched. They will learn and
grow from that experience, and will be better for it.
BigSkies"The same cannot be said, however, about their losses to
Virginia and Utah. I'm still upset about those."Maybe you
should try to give credit to Virginia and Utah for their wins over byu. It
might make you feel better to admit that byu got beat rather than insisting that
byu beat themselves.
Although disappointing, this loss is understandable. BYU was, indeed,
overmatched, but they played hard and turned in an acceptable performance. The same cannot be said, however, about their losses to Virginia and
Utah. I'm still upset about those.
