As a BYU fan I'd like to admonish my fellow Cougars to not throw stones so hard concerning the ease of the pre season in the Utes schedule. This is common practices for most programs-- in that it allows the team to tune up and also gain confidence. It is true that, if there are too many cupcakes on the schedule, that the team might not be sufficiently prepared when conference play begins, but the focus right now is to ease into the season.

For you Utes who like to mock the WCC-- although it is true that the venues in which most games are played are smaller arenas the teams in the WCC are the beneficiaries of not having to compete with football programs for university resources. So they pretty much focus on basketball. The result is some very decent basketball teams. Teams that can beat PAC teams as well.

Looking forward to the basketball year.

"Embarrassing that anyone would call thi a nice win or defend the u's schedule."

Thanks for your opinion. I was watching the Pac-12 Network last night and noticed that Gonzaga poured in 100 points in their basketball game. I'm sure the byu collective is giddy with excitement about the attention that accomplishment brings to their highly respected conference. Do you know who Gonzaga's opponent was? Neither do I.

You might take the advice of Surf is Up and ease up on the criticism.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Ute fans. Y fans and Aggie fans! Just for fun....lets support instate teams until we play one of them. The better we all do the better it is for us!

Good luck Aggies!
Good luck Utes!
Good luck BYU, Weber and SUU!

poyman...how did the byu / Utah game play out last year? It will be interesting to see which one improved the most over the last year because that will be the winner this year. See you in a few weeks!

When will the Utes get a break from this crushing schedule? How long can the morale be sustained when they are only beating lesser quality teams by 80 points?

I am a BYU fan and don't like Utah but don't particularly hate the Utes. But beating any team by that much is not something to mock. Utah played well in their first game. But it also has to be noted that Evergreen State is not only NAIA Division II, they are a NAIA Division II team that only won 2 games last year. They lost by 83 to Seattle University last year, a team that finished 10th in the WAC last year. So while it is nothing to scoff at, I will gladly take the two 9 point wins BYU has so far this year over Division I opponents (both of whom could quite likely end up in the NCAA tournament) over the Ute's 1 84 point victory over a team that many high school teams could beat.

Impressive win. And for those who make fun of Utah's schedule, you people made fun of the schedule last year. And guess who had the most top 100 RPI wins of anyone in the state?

The Pac 12 University of Utah Utes

So either the other local teams had terrible schedules as well, or their teams are just inept at beating any good teams.

I think we'll be 5-7th in the Pac 12 this year. Excited for the season.

Go Utes"

Is this similar to your (8-4) and in contention for the Pac 12 South until the final week prediction?

I would have like to see Utah play a tougher non-conference schedule, but it is, what it is. The PAC 12 conference will provide all the opportunity that Utah needs to prove itself. Anything short of the NIT will be dissapointing.

GO UTES
