Those who think that government has the answer to society's problems will always be disappointed. The private sector innovates. The public sector drains money from those innovations to pay for public "assistance", assistance that is designed to keep us dependent on the government. Just look at how many families are living in poverty because the government encourages them to live in poverty by slapping their hands as soon as they start to prosper. On the other hand, the private sector has encouraged people to stretch by offering high salaries to those who apply themselves.

Too often we look back at the "good old days" with blind eyes. Maybe we should remember FDR. Do you think that he would have wished that polio had been conquered before he was born, or do you think that he pined for the days when summer brought the threat of spending the rest of your life in an iron-lung or in a wheel-chair.

Instead of wasting time waiting for the government to solve your problems, get off your couch and do something that solves a problem - otherwise YOU are the problem.

We have no leadership from the White House, zero, zip, nada. All we get from the president is blaming, lying, derision and a litany of bad, damaging policies! The consequences pointed out in this article speak for themselves.

Mr. Florez, you are absolutely right.

We don't choose the circumstances of our birth. Success in life is, in large part, due to luck. If one looks at income distribution today compared to 20 or 30 yrs ago it is evident there is a hollowing out of the middle class and more income accumulating to a small percentage at the top. The Gini co-efficient, a measure of inequality, shows the U.S. ranking similar to the Philippines, and Uruguay. The most "equal" countries are found in Scandinavia--Sweden, Norway, Denmark etc. One has a better chance of achieving the "American Dream" in these countries.

Ideologues and extremists create havoc in society and impede progress in dealing with problems.

Got Healthcare!
Got Osama
Got the Second term.

Zero zip nada is what we have gotten from the republicans and madhatters.

@ Happy Valley.
Got healthcare? Obamacare is not healthcare, its a scam to rob Peter to Pay for Paul's insurance. Paul may like it but it harms Peter and apparently millions of Peters in America resent being lied to, having their premiums, deductibles and co-pays explode. Obamacare is already causing demos up for reelection to run for cover!

Got Osama? The Navy Seals got Osama not Obama.

Got the second term? Yes, unfortunately we did and we also got fast and furious, NSA spying, IRS abuses, Benghazi cover-up, $7 trillion more in nation's debt, doubled the food stamp (SNAP) recipients, high unemployment, DOMA destroyed, middle class income plummeting, Solyndra, and yes, the Obamacare mess!

All miserable failures cover-ups and lies! No successes, zero, zip, nada!

Yes.

All we have to do is vote Republican all of our countries ills would disappear.

The GOP never covers up. The GOP would never spy on people. The GOP would never add trillions to our national debt, or have high unemployment, or bankroll a losing proposition.

Yes people. Just punch the good ole R tab and life will be grand again.

"America needs leadership not brinkmanship"

For once you're right, John. Unfortunately, we have a brinksmanship-per in the White House. Now, we can see that we also have a liar in the White House as well.

JoeBlow: it doesn't much matter which tab you punch, the results are pretty much the same. Marx's dictum that religion is the opium of the masses needs to be updated for democracies: voting is the opiate of the masses. It gives you the illusion that you have some significant role in the outcome of political decisions. Dream on.

I have worked hard, always played by the rules, my wife and I both worked our way through college, never accepted a dime of welfare, food stamps or any other government benefits. I have a masters degree and my wife has a Jurist doctorate. We both work but due to an unavoidable illness, an economy that has been in the tank for a decade know and the growing economic divide between the rich and the rest of us we struggle to survive and are on the verge of homelessness but no please go ahead and tell me how I need to just get up of the couch and work harder.

My point exactly. Which is why I am confounded by those who bash one party daily.

Do they sincerely not see that there is very little difference.

Mtmnan and Mr Richards.. Do you not see that the GOP does the very things your rail about on a daily basis?

I seldom defend the dems, but I do point out the similarities of the parties

@ Joe Blow. No, I do not see that the GOP does the same things as the Dems. It wasn't the GOP that destroyed the DOMA. It wasn't the GOP that gave us this Obamacare mess! It wasn't the GOP that gave us the IRS abuses of power, Solyndra failures and the "shovel ready" stimulus failures. It isn't the GOP is taking this nation to socialism. The GOP is the party of strong families, small government, self reliance and freedom! And heaven help any Republican if they ask questions, demand accountability and honesty from Obama and the Demos! The Democratic party produces the results we all see in Detroit, Chicago and New York. Demos laugh at and mock American exceptionalism. Conservatives respect, understand and strive to preserve American exceptionalism. Those are just a few of the vast, vast differences.

Seems to be the plan... Now we see that British Jihadis avow that 'we will bleed you to Death' describing their aims for America. - The Blaze.
