Why do people keep asking him about BYU?

Woods Cross, UT

Because Whit is a BYU alumnus, his Dad coached at BYU, Kyle was offered the BYU head coaching job, there is a rivalry between Utah and BYU, fans of both teams are in the his extended family, and Whit is a respected coach in college football.

This was a great game, and one of the key victories in Utah's history. I am pleased that it is being pulled out of the archives. I wish more classic games were readily available. NetFlix or HULU could make the venture profitable.

This was our last true test in our prestigious quest for 2008 perfection. After beating tcu it was smooth sailing to BCS glory.

As both us and TCU have found out, life with the big boys is ever tougher than we imagined. But I imagine TCU feels the same in never wanting to go back to beating our chests over beating up nobodies like Wyoming, byu, New Mexico.

Whittingham has PROVEN he knows how to build top 5 undefeated programs. He'll take us back to greatness, but yes, its going to take a couple more years.

Go Utes!

I'd say Whittingham has had "zero thoughts" on Utah games this year. Oh well, I think he'll find his groove again at Weber.

What a nice gesture, a bone thrown to the Salt Lake market, by the Pac Network people. Is this what conference affiliation has come to?

Looking forward to the ski team and gymnastics highlites next Thursday!

Let's get together and watch replays of the last 4 years of byu football wins over Utah.

Yes, let's look at history to make utes fans feel good about their season. Two problems here; first, nobody cares about a game played 5 years and second, nobody watches the pac network.
It is a lose-lose proposition.

Leave poor Sammy alone, 4 beatings in a row has been especially hard on him..

This was one of the greatest football games I've ever been to. That was an amazing TCU team, I think even with the loss to Utah they finished the year ranked #7. When you couple how much was riding on that game with the dramatic way it ended, it was one of those rare moments in sports that no one who watched it will forget.

And it led to the second major bowl victory and BCS trophy ever brought back to our state.

Can't wait to watch the 2010 TCU-Utah barnburner.

Layton, UT

I rush the field every time I watch replays of the byu-Virginia game.

Haha I hate to say this, but when we watch the game tonight we're going to be watching the last time Utah had a healthy starting quarterback throughout a season.

Here's hoping Wilson's hand is actually "100%"

Littleton, CO

Yeah, that was a GREAT game and the climax of a storied season. Brian Johnson was money all season -- the classic "doesn't really do anything great -- all he really knows how to do is WIN" quarterback. That season was legendary for the Utes.

Chris, I know you're all about hype, but you certainly know the difference between a "season" and a "program", right? Kyle has proven that he can put together a top-5 undefeated SEASON, as he did it in '08. Oregon and Alabama have put together top-5 PROGRAMS in recent years; Urban is on the verge of doing it with OSU. It takes a sustained period of time in or near the top 5 (perhaps 3 seasons?) to be considered a legitimate Top 5 program. I'm afraid the clock keeps re-starting for the Utes. For now, Kyle has a legitimate top-40 program. Get back to us in 3 years and we'll re-evaluate....

Can't wait for the replay of the 2011 Utah-byu barn burner myself!

Herriman, UT

BYU did something like this on TV, it was called the 50 greatest plays of all time.

Idaho Falls, ID

Can't wait to watch the latest installment of a BSU beatdown of Utah. Anybody up for the 2010 Holiday Bowl? Maybe we can watch the uncut version. You know, the one where Utah actually scores a touchdown.

Eddy G.,

Nor can I wait for the 2011 Utah v. BYU barn burner. The for a night cap we'll watch BYU v. Virginia.

Unlike the 2003 Holy War where BYU doesn't even score a point. Right Ed?

"Unlike the 2003 Holy War where BYU doesn't even score a point."

More of an embarrassment for a Top 25 Utah team (9-4) that barely squeaked out a 3-0 win against the worst BYU team in over 40 years.

Nice try spinning the Utes' victory as an embarrassment. You can't deny that TDS' most embarrassing home loss in years came at the hands of your bitter rivals in 2011.

Besides, I'll take a 3-0 rivalry victory any day. The 2011 white washing in happy valley was purely bonus material!
