Duckhunter, most people would consider "throwing their hat in" to be
giving a guy the same opportunity that other schools did. So basically he
didn't really care to go and pay tuition for a good education when he could
get it for free somewhere else. Good to see your "reasoning" skills have
hit their midseason stride.
@stg"Kelly, who was recruited by the Utes but never cracked his
list of top choices back in 2010,"According to the article utah
recruited him but he wanted nothing to do with them. Sounds to me like they
"threw their hat in" but he really didn't care to put it on.
Anyone thinking that Utah should "take this one" is sleep typing.
Utes should be able to take this one!
CSD, coming out of high school, Kelly was a pretty unheralded recruit. His only
other offer was Nevada (an offense that seemed perfectly suited to him). In
hindsight, Erickson looks like a genius for offering a scholarship to him now,
and Utah fans are wishing Utah had at least thrown their hat in because
he's a great talent. But the fact is Utah already had two higher rated QB
recruits in that class. Utah's certainly had their fair share of finding
recruiting gems, but nobody is exempt to getting burned on turning guys down, as
they did with Kelly. Best of luck to him... after Saturday!
Well it looks like Mr. Kelly had the same start of year goal as Mr./Mrs. Chris
B's...that of winning the Pac. South division and play in the Rose! One is
still very real and the other is, well, not so real, but I'm counting them
out yet! Who knows, maybe the Utes can still put it together and make Chris
look good! Which frankly, I believe they can. I'm still hoping to see
them against the Cougars post season in San Francisco! That would be a great
ending to the season for both schools! Go Cougars! Go Utes! Go
Wow, I never would have thought that any player with ties to Utah could be so
good. How could it be that Utah wasn't able to recruit him? This happened
in Utah's own back yard. Hmmm
