Rather than make speachs to conservative organizations has our Senator Lee introduced any legislation that has passed and become law?

His role in the government shut down which he now seems to be down playing is unacceptable to me.

We lost out when the Republican Party choose him over Bennett .

I would like to see him become a one term Senator.

Huh?

What has he even done other than have a pep rally in South Jordan?

Seriously, what has he done in the... 2 weeks? Since the shutdown?

Nothing of significance would be the key answer here. Dnews is just grasping at straws here in order to rebuild their boy's image.

“Frustration is not a platform. Anger is not an agenda. And outrage, as a habit, is not even conservative … For us, optimism is not just a message — it’s a principle."

What has been the GOP platform if not for Anger, Outrage, and Pessimism?

It appears to me that their platform consists of opposing any idea that is not their own.
It is right in line with Mitch McConnell's #1 priority, which failed.

They passionately hate the ACA but in all these years have not put forth one piece of legislation to fix or replace it. Not one.

Apologist that you are, there is no action of any significance. He is unrepentant of his destructive behavior, and I've seen nothing but a few words that he is changing his waywardness.

Lee was certainly right about Obamacare. Peter Drucker said, " Leadership is doing the right things, management is doing things right". Lee does both!

I Agreed Dan --
It was a brilliant speech;

However,
Actions speak louder than words.

Come on now you libs. Be honest for once. The real reason you hate Lee is because he dared to ask Obama for some honesty and accountability and you can't stand that!

It's not true that Republicans have done nothing but oppose Obamacare. They introduced at least 22 amendments to the bill, all of which were rejected by Democrats. Now the Democrats are scrambling to make some of those changes. They will need Republican support:)

I for one was very disappointed that you Dan stood against Senator Lee for his stance since he was the only one that kept his pledge. I don't know of many people that did more than myself to help you win against Hatch. I thought you would be another Lee. I realize now there are very few people that will stand for principles and do the unpopular thing. Lee has always been for getting along unless the getting along with Congress makes the people suffer.

"Come on now you libs. Be honest for once. The real reason you hate Lee is because he dared to ask Obama for some honesty and accountability and you can't stand that!"

Not at all. First, I think that's a gross mischaracterization of what Senator Lee did. He was nowhere near that collegial; I believe that he was motivated by utter contempt for the Obama administration and a desire to politically damage it, rather than any desire for the Obama administration to be more open and accountable.

Second, I certainly don't believe that the Obama administration can do no wrong; on the contrary, there are a number of actions taken by this administration with which I am disappointed, and I readily concede that the ACA was not "ready for prime time" (though I think it is preferable to the previous status quo, even if only marginally so).

And finally, I don't hate Senator Lee. His desire for fiscal responsibility certainly has merit (though I don't necessarily agree with him on what constitutes "fiscal responsibility"), but his methodology and view of everyone not like-minded with him are both deeply flawed and dangerous.

SG in SLC. Senator Lee is dangerous? Abuses of the government are what are dangerous! Bringing abuses by the government to the light is correct behavior, not dangerous behavior! God Bless your Senator Lee! How America needs more like him!

===========

I don't know --

Sending 20 million Federal Employees home without a paycheck because of a political disagreement seems SEVERLY dangerous if you ask me.

Mike Lee and Ted Cruz hurt AMERICANS, not Obama.
On the contrary, they probably did the President and the Democrats a huge favor.

The GOP just took another election on the chin,
and the entire House of Representatives comes up for re-election in 10 short months.

You think it's bad now,
Just until they ShutDown the Government again in January...

No wonder Mike Lee is now singing a little differnet tune...

Such as?

You mean like Delay it?
You mean like Repeal it?
You mean like Defund it?

What amendments have they offered in good faith to improve it?

List please?

My Father always said he would rather see a sermon than hear one. Mike Lee's chance to side with Locke came during the pointless government shutdown debate. I will wait to see how he acts during the next "Tea Party Temper Tantrum." That's when we will find out if he's turned a corner or if he is just all talk.

I guess I'll hold my breath until Mike practices what he preaches. I think Mike finally saw the writing on the wall, he couldn't bully people so now it's time to pretend to be nice. Smile while you continue to stab the American people in the back, Mike. The Tea Party and its members will never embrace a multiple viewpoint party, unless it's different yet versions of their view. According to the tea party, anybody not espousing their political agenda is not worthy of sharing the same name.

"American conservatism, at its core, is about gratitude, and cooperation, and trust, and, above all, hope. It is also about inclusion."
George Orwell is having a good laugh about this one. Talk about "Newspeak."
The fact is American conservatism at its core is about selfishness, non-cooperation, distrust, and above all, smashing the hopes of the less fortunate among us. It is most certainly NOT about inclusion. As Daisy Buchanan, that other great conservative philosopher, said, "We've got to keep them down."

RFLASH

Isn't it interesting when he decided to make his changes. If things had went better for the Tea Party, do you think he would have made this speech? No, he would not have. He knew exactly what he has been doing and it has been calculated according to what he thought would help him the most. He was sure of it and gambled and fell on his behind! Now he is worried about all the stuff that should always have been a part of what he was doing! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and shame on me! He is far from being one of our state or nation's greatest heroes! If he wants that, he might try doing work instead of trying to find the easiest way to fame!
