"The Utes enter Saturday’s game against Arizona State tied for 117th in the nation with just two picks."

So Travis threw three times as many picks in ONE game versus UCLA, as Utah's defense has snagged the entire season?

Ouch!

How embarrassing it must be to root for a team that threw one of those two INTs...

Well said STGtoSLC,

We aren't very good this year, other than our top 10 win against Stanford, who will likely END the season in the top 10. And yet, we still managed to beat our two WAC brothers byu and usu.

And I'll point out its also likely Stanford will go to a BCS bowl, which means Whittingham will have beaten TWO BCS bowl participants(Alabama, Stanford).

Number of BCS bowl participants Bronco has beaten?

Zero!

We need to hear from Chris B about this... in order to put an entirely new, unthought of spin on the issue. A spin that tells us the Utes are always great no matter what. After all, they do belong to a prestigious conference.

And let's not forget "No matter how bad we are, you're worse." A true intellectual football gem if ever we've heard one.
Mark it down.

How embarrassing it must be to root for a team that three three times as many interceptions in ONE GAME as their defense has collected in the ENTIRE SEASON.

@ Chris B:

Number of times BYU has gone to bowl games the past 7 years... 7 (and counting).
Number of times Utah has gone to bowl games the past 2 years... 0 (counting this season).

Number of current consecutive wins BYU currently has... 5.
Number of current consecutive wins Utah currently has... 0.

BYU's current season record... 6-2.
Utah's current season record... 4-4.

BYU's average quarterback rating over the past several games... 130+.*
Utah's average quarterback rating over the past several games... 30+

* BYU's qb current national ranking in all-purpose yards: 6th
Utah's qb current ranking in all-purpose yards (or anything else): Couldn't find it.

Number of consecutive years BYU has ended the season nationally ranked better than Utah... 3 and counting.

@ Chris B:

Another one of your untruths needs to be corrected... again:

You said that Kyle has beaten 2 former BCS bowl participants (Alabama, Stanford) and Bronco 0.
But actually, Bronco has beaten 3 former BCS bowl participants (Miami, Oklahoma, and Texas).

Also, BYU did beat another former BCS bowl participant (Notre Dame) the last time they played... in 2004.

@Chris

Houston, Texas, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech could all end up in BCS bowls this year. Two of those teams control their destiny (Houston and Texas) just needing to win out. The others have a little harder time getting there.

Congrats to Utah on the big Stanford win this year.

How embarrassing to be beating your chest about an interception coming on a desperation heave on the final play of the game.

In truth, Utah's 117th in the country interception ranking is even more pathetic than it appears on paper.

Tators,

LOL!

Kyle beat two BCS Bowl partipants IN THE YEAR they were BCS Bowl teams.

LOL!

Nice spin though.

Alabama was a BCS bowl participant WHEN we beat them.

Stanford will likely be a BCS Bowl team this year, meaning we beat them IN THE YEAR they were a BCS bowl team.

Number of times Bronco has beaten a BCS bowl team in the year they went to the BCS Bowl?

Zero!

In other words, how many end of season top 10 ranked teams has Bronco beaten?

ZERO!

Kyle already has 1, and likely Stanford as another.

Isn't it funny your coach talks of winning national titles, and yet he's NEVER beaten an end of season top 10 team?

LOL

Tators,

So since you're claiming byu beat BCS bowl participants(in the years they WERENT bcs bowl participants), should Utah be bragging about being the best team in the nation since we beat Alabama a few years ago and they're the now two time reigning national champion?

LOL!

Here is a clue:

Beating a BCS bowl participant IN THE YEAR they are a BCS bowl participant is better than beating such team in a down year when they aren't a BCS Bowl participant.

LOL

Nice spin though.

Unfortunately for U, despite your desperate, cherry-picked stats and spin, the rest of the country isn't nearly as impressed with U, as U are.

Current Rankings:

BCS, AP, Coaches, Harris, Sagarin, CPU Avg, CBSSports, ESPN Power, Composite(105 rankings)

BYU(6-2) 27, 28, 29, 21, 19, 21, 26, 27, 19
Utah(4-4) 45, ur, ur, ur, 65, 44, 45, ur, 39

Bottom line:

BYU has a better record AND is ranked an average of 20 places HIGHER than the Utes.

BYU has already secured a berth in the Fight Hunger Bowl, and still has an outside shot at a BCS bowl.

Utah is desperately clinging to an outside shot at qualifying for the New Mexico Bowl, or worse.

Why are we always comparing Utah vs. BYU. Who cares what the team down south does?? We beat them AGAIN so let's move on.

SI's Stewart Mandel: PAC 12 bowl pecking order and projections

BCS Championship - Oregon (BCS No. 2)
Rose Bowl - Stanford (BCS at-large)
Alamo Bowl - UCLA (Pac-12 No. 2)
Holiday Bowl - Arizona State (Pac-12 No. 3)
Sun Bowl - Washington (Pac-12 No. 4)
Las Vegas Bowl - USC (Pac-12 No. 5)
Fight Hunger Bowl - Arizona (Pac-12 No. 6)
New Mexico Bowl - Oregon St. (Pac-12 No. 7)

No mention of Utah.

The biggest problem I see is a definite lack of talent in some key areas (Defensive backfield being one of them). Other PAC-12 teams have defenders - with size and speed - who are covering opposing receivers and can make plays on the ball. Getting near the ball will give them a better chance at an interception. Ute D-backs are usually getting beat off the line in press coverage and either run into each other or seem lost when trying to play zone converage. Even in Nickel and Dime packages, there are often huge holes. Each game there are huge blown coverages that results in a big play for our opponents.

We could get by with 5-foot 9-inch corners that are sloppy tacklers in the Mountain West, but it won't cut it in the PAC-12.

Truth Machine,

How embarrassing would it be to lose to a team like Utah... or even 2-7 Virginia who will finish the season 2-10. That would be really bad

Tators,

When did Bronco beat Miami?

LOL!

Yep, national power that still can't beat the Utes.
