Congratulations to the UHSAA on creating such great balance in the 5A ranks. Region 1 and Region 2 are ridiculous. The varsity teams in region 2 could not compete for a JV title in the other regions.

Thats why you have the St George newspaper. People up north don't complain when we aren't in that newspaper down there.

Gimmee a break.

Did hurricane not play in northern utah? Gimme a break. Plus, don't you ever get sick of reading about bad teams?

Beating any 3AA north team besides JD doesn't prove anything.. Those teams could barely compete in 2A.. They are miserable excuses for a football team

you will get to read about your southern Snow Canyon team next weekend after they play the #1 3AA JD Soaring Eagle. Dont think you're going to like that article either.

@mykaljordan

gotta get some hype for when juan diego plays those st george teams. Always great ones to watch. Good luck as always, but the southern teams are even better than ever. cant wait to see what the next 3 weeks bring.

H-town tiger,

How have you been? It's always good went St.george comes up doing the playoffs. I have nephews that play on a St.George team, and I know how tough the teams are from down south. I wish you all the best, but you know me, I am all JD..! In my opinion it will be a rematch of last year,but with a different outcome. JD vs Dixie for the 3AA State Title. JD wins by 17

Good luck to all the student-athletes

as foolish as I would be to say that Hurricane is gonna go all the way this year...don't be surprised to see yet another Hurricane/Juan Diego Game this year. The game against Hurr/Pine View in the regular season was as close as they can get (well except for those 3 championship games a few years back) Hurricane could very well pull an upset against Pine View.

It won't be easy, but they have shown already that they have the potential to do so

I guess the one certain thing in 5A is that the Region 1 streak of being the bridesmaid will come to an end.

I agree....I think it will come down to Dixie VS. JD. Although it's hard to judge how good Juan Diego is....as proved in the first round of the playoff's, the majority of the Northern Utah region could get beat by a 5th grade girls team...I think PV is taking lift off at a good time....but they are coming off of a super long break...I still give the game to PV, PV will lose to JD, and JD will face Dixie in the Finals

I haven't commented for awhile on these boards, so I thought I would give my two cents. I think from the 1st round of 3AA, its obvious that 3AA north other than JD and Stansbury, the rest of the teams are weak. Dixie/Cedar, and PV/Hurricane have to play each other again, and that's never easy to replay a team. My prediction is the following, Dixie will make it to Final game against JD. PV will give JD a good game, but JD is too well balanced for PV this year. Put pressure on their QB and he makes poor passes. Dixie/JD will be an incredible game that will come down to turnovers/Defense. I think both teams are good and running and passing. That Dixie/JD game won't happen though unless each team takes care of business against some really good teams in the next two weeks. In the end, I feel Dixie Repeats in shootout 35 to 31.
