@sorryboutdat - You are probably the first comment that seems to share my
perspective in regards to the Herriman/Brighton game.I respect
Brighton very much. I believe they have the best offensive line in the state.
Their backside guard and tackle are beasts and their tight end is extremely
athletic (I had a chance to meet all 3 at the AllPoly Camp in June). With that being said...Herriman and Brighton match up very well...better than
most people think. Neither team will run away with a blow out. I expect the
game to be decided in the 4th quarter and the team with the least mistakes
The winner of Herriman Brighton will ultimately end up playing Bingham in the
championship. They both played tight games with Bingham.Herriman gave
up 240 rushing yards and 60 passing to Bingham.Brighton gave up 346
rushing and 75 passing to Bingham.I noticed in the Brighton game Bingham
fumbled and Brighton ran it back. Brighton seem to struggle stopping Bingham
from big plays in the running game. Herriman played with Bingham throughout,
even turning the ball over a few times and throwing a pick 6 before half.
Herriman even playing sloppy was within 6 late in the 4th quarter. Bingham got a
TD in the closing minute because Herriman went for it on there side of the field
and failed. It should be a great game and if Herriman holds on to the ball will
be tough to beat.PG and Jordan should be a great game but i don't
think that the winner of that game will beat Herriman or Brighton.
RES will welcome all Region 3 next week. Period!! All year we all said it. Now
it will happen. The Truth.
I made a typing error in my post. The line should read "Don't be
surprised if Region 4 sends 2 possibly 3 teams to RES!!!"@plyxply - Thanks for the love. Masina is a beast and awesome running back.
With that said...running offenses plays to our strength. Brighton reminds me a
lot of Bingham. In the Bingham game...they ran more than they passed. Shultz had
1 reception and no touchdowns. Herriman has a linebacker who is a 3 year starter
and has recorded 100 tackles all three years. We held the leading rusher in the
state to 90 yards. PG and Jordan is the best match-up out of all 4 games...I see
no reason why PG won't be tied or leading going into the 4th quarter at
Jordan. The LP/Alta game is tough. I'm hoping playing at home and making
some adjustments from the first game will be enough to get the win. LP was
winning until Alta ran off 21 unanswered points. Riverton loses...but will play
strong.@Gunner - Simple typing error. I believe 2 and possibly 3
make it. My 2 are Herriman and Pleasant Grove...the possibly 3 is Lone Peak.
Man, in the dictionary under the word Homer, Benzo must have his picture.
"possibly 4 teams in the semi's" haha Riverton has a
snowball's chance in you know where! But keep up the great laughs. We
only have 1 more week of seeing them!
I love benzo and his love and enthusiasm for Herriman football, regardless of
how accurate his statements are or are not. With that said Herriman is way too
one dimensional to win four games in the playoffs. I love their O line and run
game, but Brighton should beat them by 10, they won't have an answer for
Masina.Lone Peak won't beat Alta. Not saying it isn't possible,
and Baron is a good player, but he's never beat Alta at any level and LP
got beat pretty bad in the first game v Alta. Alta will be healthy with both of
the missing O lineman back and I'd be surprised if the game didn't
turn out about the same spread as the first game. Bingham will roll
Riverton, the Silverwolfes have already reached the pinnacle of their football
success, EVER, and won't beat Bingham. Jordan and PG will be the closest
game of the four, and it could go either way.
Lone Peak should have beat Herriman to be honest. They threw a pick six when
they were 10 yards from scoring and that proved to be the difference in the
game.Herriman beating Brighton is a very real possibility.
That's a good matchup for Herriman. Brighton doesn't throw the ball
all that great which plays to Herriman's strengths. Osa Masina is
obviously a monster so I think it will be a great game.As far as the
picture he caught a pass over the middle and jumped and the way he got hit he
did a spinning front flip. It was pretty crazy to watch happen.
it's really difficult to give love to a team that finished the regular
season 5-5, was only 3-3 in close games, and had a single two-game winning
streak. They have been a model of inconsistency. It takes four straight wins,
three against really good teams, in the playoffs to win a title and Herriman
hasn't shown any capability yet to sustain performance levels reguired to
achieve that. They are a dark horse at best and only Herriman homers are going
to give them any love until they actually accomplish something meaningful. This shouldn't be a surprise!
What's funny is that you guys give props to LP for beating Syracuse? But
when Herriman dominated LP @ LP you guys say, well it must have been a bad game
by Baron?!? The head coach @ LP even said that Herriman is the team to
beat...but yet Herriman gets no love. We shall see!!!
All season...the consensus was Region 3 is the best region and Region 4 is the
most competitive region. These claims will be tested Friday. Sweeps over Region
1 and Region 2 provides even more fire to this weeks matchups.I'm picking Region 4 to get 3 teams into RES....2 upsets, a win and a
loss.Herriman "upsets" Brighton 35-31Pleasant Grove
upsets Jordan 49-42Lone Peak beats Alta 28-24Bingham beats Riverton
42-21Herriman and Brighton match up really good. Herriman is at
home, were they lost to Bingham by only 13 points...so there is no reason to
believe that Brighton will "roll" them. Expect a close hard fought game.
Pleasant Grove and Jordan are almost identical and it will be a high scoring
back and forth event. Lone Peak is at home against Alta looking for revenge and
will play much better. Riverton will hang tough with Bingham...but will
eventually run out of gas.Don't be surprised if Region 4 sends
2 and possible 4 teams to RES!!!Herriman vs Pleasant Grove (rematch)
& Lone Peak vs BinghamSide note: does anyone have any background
on the picture attached to this article????
First name escapes me (I think it might be Tom), but the DC's last name is
Longnecker. He started at the school years ago and they had some great
defenses. I think he was the head coach at Southern Virginia for a while but
came back to Utah and Lone Peak.
@goaggies1 jump on Region 4 cause we're going to ride this pony to the
Motherland!!! Go Herriman and all of Region 4!
You better be. Because Region 1 stinks!
Baron is going to take it to Alta!!! He is a great high school QB. I hope they
knock off region 3's last chance to make it to the dance. Good luck to
region 4. Smack the sec in the face. Now Im a region 4 fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So where are our Cuse fans that was telling us all that we just didn't get
that Cuse was a legit contender this year? Region 1 and done!
Cuse offense play calling was the main reason they lost. Give some credit the O
coordinator. It force Cuse D to spend the whole game on the field. LP should
give Alta a good game the second time around.
Anyone that knows the Syracuse coaches and how they recruit players from out of
their boundaries would not call them a "class act"
Like I posted the other day, Region 1 and their "3 yards and a cloud of
dust" mentality just does not work against the big boys. Glad to see it an
all Region 3 vs. Region 4 quarterfinals. Let the mediocrity sit at home, and let
the UHSAA pat themselves on the back for a job well done.
well well well, all that talk from Cuse fans , Go MINERS
Who is the LP defensive coordinator? It would be nice to know who that is and
give him some credit.
The score makes this game seem a lot closer than it was (seems to be a theme
with LP this year. ) LP dominated the line of scrimmage all game with the
exception of one play. Going to be a good one against Alta. Of all the region 4
teams they have the best shot of winning (LP does) in my opinion.
