Gunner -I agree with your post. You just may be right about PG. I
will still take PG, but I agree with you. If any region 4 team is going to be
beat, I think it is in this game. And you are right, a steady dose of Bingham
next week for Riverton will be ugly. I think Bingham for one is just way to big
for Riverton. Again, just my two cents.
I think PG put all their eggs in the basket last week to get that win vs
Herriman. Not that they didn't have the talent to do it anyway. But just
think it was a lot of emotion going into that game. I think Davis wins this
one. I think LP beats Cuse, and Herriman and Riverton win their games. But next
week it's a totally different scenario for Region 4. Brighton puts the
wood to Herriman, and Riverton (Diet Bingham) finds out what a real team looks
I agree with PigSkin, to me this is the only game in which I have any worry at
all for Region 4. If PG wins this game, Region 4 sweeps this week just like
Region 3 will. That would make for a great next week of:Brighton @
Herriman - I would actually like Brighton in this one, but do not look past
Herriman. They are better than people are giving them credit for because of
their record which includes games against Jordan, Bingham, and a loss that
should have never happened at HighlandPG @ Jordan - I think this
would be a great game. Jordan is down this year a small bit, but I would take
Jordan.Alta @ Lone Peak - I would take Lone Peak in this rematch,
but you never know.Riverton @ Bingham - I would take Bingham again
in this rematch.I did say at the beginning that Region 3 would be
the entire semi's. And that it would be Bingham and Brighton in the end
for another great game. But don' count Reg. 4 out yet, I think they just
might be able to surprise a couple of teams in the second round.
If you have ever played a football game against Davis High on their home field,
you would know that they have a great home field "advantage" and will
end up finding a way to win the game. I've played six games at Davis High
and our team was undefeated and going to easily go into the playoffs and Davis
was a lowly 3-6 and had to win the game to make the playoffs...and somehow they
ended up beating us 13-9 when we had been scoring 30+ points all year long
against opponents. I won't say how they did it or my comment won't be
posted, but let's just say that we had three touchdowns called back for the
infamous "holding" penalties etc. and it got more ridiculous as the
games went on. I've seen it done at Davis High for years not only in
football, but basketball, soccer, and baseball as well.
Of all the Region 1 teams that will win, Davis has the best chance. Not because
of talent or size, but coaching. They seam to out coach Region 1 teams for years
and will know what to in tight games. If it is close at the end Davis coaching
will find a way to win.
Both regions stink. It will play out 2-2 and both will get swept out next week
when they have to play Region 3.
Pleasant Grove wins 28-20
I like Region 4 to sweep Region 1. We will find out tomorrow of course what the
overall outcome is. Either Region 4 is way over-rated, or Region 1 is
unchallenged this year like many think and they are the over-rated. This is
always a fun time of season for High School football. Good luck to all teams!
Davis controls PG and limits big plays similar to Riverton and Lone Peak. Davis
by 10. Syracuse tops Lone Peak, Riverton and Herriman win.
The Davis vs Pleasant Grove match-up is the game of the week in 5A. I believe
that Pleasant Grove pulls off the upset and then matches up with Jordan next
week.I'm predicting Region 1 to go 1-3, Region 2 to go 0-4,
Region 3 to go 4-0 and Region 4 to go 3-1 in Round to create some exciting
Quarterfinal games.Quick note - Region 4 did not use any coin flips
in determining the seeds. Two sets of tie-breakers were applied (total common
wins and head to head) to determine the seeding.Look for Region 4 to
get 1 and possibly 2 teams to RES!!!!
