I told you guys the Utes were going to have challenges too big to handle ,in the PAC 12. You get blue chip players thrown at you on a weekly basis. And that equals losses, losses, losses.

There will be no ute bowl again this year. Too bad BYU played them before the offense got untracked. They would kill Utah this week.

No, Travis Wilson’s hand is not all better. Alex Smith is not walking through that door. Adam Schulz isn’t even the next Jon Hays yet. Utah still isn’t ready for an every-week schedule of big opponents. The offensive line leaks.

Did we miss anything?

Yes, Utah is also being out coached!

Last week KW said his team came out flat because they weren't ready to play. This week, his game plan was to use an injured Wilson... it took him the Arizona game and 3 quarters to figure out that the offense wasn't going anywhere with an injured QB.

We looked terrible. I am beginning to wonder if we even belong in the PAC I hope our basketball team can do better but holding my breath. Maybe next year.

So Chris. How are those stars looking right now?

The Giraffe had one nice run of 24 yds but the rest of the way was 11 carries for 18 yds. Not very productive running. Utah was just never in this game. Utah is now 1-10 in Pac12 conference games in the month following the BYU Bowl. The post BYU Bowl game curse is alive and well for the 3rd year in a row.

But I marked it down, how can this be? USC was playing their 3rd string. Yet another disappointing pac12 season. The prestige is quickly wearing off.

Play them in Vegas again...

Utah 10
USC 6

That game plan was smash mouth ball control without a record number of turnovers on offense. They had a hard time getting it over the goal line but they sure moved the ball between the 20's in that game. Then of course, the defense did their job.

@Real Bass
" They would kill Utah this week."

BYU has had enough games already against teams stuck using backup QBs (Utah State, Boise State).

@BigCougar
"The post BYU Bowl game curse is alive and well for the 3rd year in a row."

Almost every single one of those games Utah had their starting QB for the year injured.

Let me share something with you...

"In the early years, I think BYU felt that they had outgrown the conference and their people were talking about how BYU would go to the Big 12 or the Pac-10.

They used to come into the Utah game always talking about who they would be playing in their bowl game.... When we started beating them, they stopped talking about their bowl game."

-- Ron McBride

Now that we OWN BYU in their own Super Bowl they've started talking about our opponents after the game?

Priceless!!

Utah will beat USC in football sooner than later; barring injuries and the resulting demoralization, it might have done so yesterday. However, it will be hugely ironic if Utah's membership in the Pac-12, which KW undoubtedly saw largely as a tribute to his football program, ends up being the thing that indirectly leads to his dismissal. It's understandably harder to win consistently in the Pac-12 than it was in the MWC, but it's also harder to keep one's job. Prestige is a double-edged sword.

Has Whitt been asking Bronco for advice on starting injured QB's? It sure looks like it.

I assume the PAC 12 will drop Utah (and Colorado) when the new realignment comes out and the NCAA figures out how to run a playoff.

I'm not sure what Utah adds to the PAC 12, certainly not the Utah tv market.

Wish I could root for the Utes. I used to until too many of their fans became so vocal and venemous. Found myself rooting for SC although I really don't like them. Too bad it can't be a respectful rivalry.

This is rough. The 'hand' is clearly the biggest issue. Utah's defense played MORE than well enough to win if Utah has an average offensive day. But the last two weeks have told us (be honest and real BYU fans) that Wilson just can't produce in his condition right now. I mean Travis was 3 for 9 with 2 INTS last week and 5 for 14 with 2 INTS and a fumble the other day.

At 4-2, I felt these two road games were winnable and they were. The bloody hand is a nightmare for us Utah fans. Erickson can only work so much magic when the offense is so depleted (injured; Scott, Murphy, Tonga, and half a Wilson)

I feel the same, only on the opposite side. I used to root for both schools until the blind inductive blue reasoning wore me out.

What's Whittingham supposed to do? Pull Manning's redshirt in order to develop a freshman QB mid season two years in a row? You don't want a QB controversy going into next year. Shultz is who he is.

Wilson is hurt. It stinks, and it's sinking the ship for our Utes. But that's the reality. If Taysom Hill got hurt it would be the same thing. Utah's defense has been solid minus two games. The OSU game being the most frustrating.

Utah has moved the ball and scored points all year until the last two weeks. It's no coincidence. The injuries are the factor. Sometimes that's just how football rolls.

Yes BYU is playing really well right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Notre Dame at all. Wisconsin might be their only challenge. But that doesn't keep me from saying that I believe a healthy Wilson, Scott(who never played the BYU game), and Murphy couldn't win between the two again.

This season is a downer despite beating BYU and Stanford. Utah is better than this. I love next years team but the schedule is even harder.

What I am curious about is how long will Erickson tolerate being in such an unfamiliar position? I would venture to speculate that if by 2016 things haven't severely righted on the hill that Dennis might just saunter off into retirement. But then, perhaps he isn't that shallow. He wasn't always a champion, but I don't know his views on being in the Pac-12 cellar... Conjecture is pointless, but definitely a point worth considering...

Whitt should have known that D.E. had run his course. No offense.
Utes record in Pac 12 since 2011: 8-15 .347
That's reality. Gotta love that Pac 12 membership.
By the way...when BYU was in discussions with the Big 8 (back then) and the Pac 8 (back then) it wasn't that the Cougars were not interested. It was that they wanted a travel partner and would only consider it if Utah was also invited. That is a fact. If Utah would have said the same, u wouldn't be in the Pac 12 today. But truth be known, Utah would have struggled in the MWC this year. You can mark that down if you want.
