For all of U who scoff at 2 star athletes - Hoffman has had a brilliant career in Provo and will make an impact in the NFL.

What makes his records even more impressive is that he has not had great QB's throwing to him until this year. I can only imagine what his numbers would have been if he had 2 or 3 years of Beck or Hall or Hill throwing to him.

It has been really fun watching Hoffman these last four years. Congrats on the records Hoffman we'll be cheering you on for years to come.

While Hoffman deserves TONS of credit for earning these records (and he abssolutely did "earn" them) it would not be fair to point out that while Hoffman did it in ~ 3 1/2 seasons, Collie did it in only 3.

Go Cougars!

You'll have take into account that Collie had Hall passing to him the whole time he was at BYU. But to @CougFaninTX point, Hoffman went through different QB to beat the record. And we have all witnessed that some passes were impossible to catch, but because CH is so good he's able to make plays. They are both great players just different ways of accomplishing things.

Although I like collie, as pointed out earlier,Hoffman had Nelson throwing to him. Enough said!

I disagree. As we've already seen this season Hoffman's numbers are actually down with a better QB throwing to him because that QB can hit other targets as well. I think Hoffman, while an amazing receiver, had inflated numbers last year because RN couldn't get the ball to anyone else. Because Hoffman is better than the other receivers he got a lot more targets but those numbers are dipping this season. That said, Hoffman is an amazing talent and should have a long and productive NFL career.

CougFaninTX,

I don't know anyone who has ever said a 2 star athlete can't be successful. For my part, I just know I've said there is a strong correlation between higher stars and better teams.

It's not a coincidence you don't see teams full of 2 stars winning national titles.

It's also not a coincidence Alabama, LSU, Florida, have all had among(if not #1) top recruiting classes leading up to their national titles.

But keep telling yourself byu's mostly 2 star kids are as talented as Alabama's 3.7 average star kids.

LOL
