While I think representation by counsel is a right, but publicly funded council is not a part of the constitution as originally drafted, it appears that many capital cases turn into "make work projects" for the legal profession at public expense. This man will probably die of old age before he can be shot (as per his request).

Somewhere our founding fathers must be either laughing or weeping at our evolved pathetic legal system.

30 years? This is an abuse of our legal system. Judges who have allowed this to evolve have broken our criminal justice system; the "rights" of convicted murderers have eclipsed the rights of the victims' families. Absolutely pathetic.
