Boise is part of a very select group of premier programs who have won multiple BCS games. I don't think there are more than ten or so teams in the entire country that can claim membership in this prestigious group. We are lucky to have another member of this group here in Utah.

Boise has superior athletes to byu and a better coach. And after what Houston did to byu's defense, there definitely was some exposure.

So I'm giving Boise the edge in this game.

Now I have two reasons to hope for a favorable outcome to Friday night's game:

1. Boise's qb is similar to Riley Nelson
2. Chris has predicted a Boise win

Thanks so much. I was beginning to doubt.

BYU is a 7 point vegas favorite again (they have been a lot this year) but have only covered once.
I think BYU's D plays well and the Offense does alright.

BYU is going to win this game. They may even surprise BSU with a dominant performance.

Hey Chris B. you should be worrying that your utes will fall flat again against a hapless USC team.

Also, please post back and tell me how many teams or programs in Utah belong to the prestigious group of programs that have won these awards:

National Championship: 1
Heisman Trophy: 1
Davey O'Brien Trophy: 3
Sammy Baugh Trophy: 7
Outland Trophy: 2
Doak Walker Award: 1

QB- NFL Passing Titles: 6
QB- Superbowl Record 1
Superbowl MVP: 1
Superbowl winning QB: 2
NFL Hall of Fame: 1

BYU is part of a very select group of premier programs who went to a bowl game last year and won. I don't think there are more than two or so teams in the state of Utah that can claim membership in this prestigious group. We are lucky to have a member of this group here in Utah playing against Boise State because if anyone else from Utah were playing them, Boise State easily beat them since they lost to a lowly Arizona squad.

BYU has superior athletes to Boise State and the coaches are quality high class people who expect something out of their athletes and not just hope they don't have any DUI's. No other team in the state of Utah would have a chance to beat Boise State because after what Arizona did to Utah as a whole, there definitely was some exposure.

So I'm giving BYU the edge in this game.

Chris B should be worrying if the Utes will ever get to .500 again, much less ever get in any prestigious groups of any sort. Both Stanford and BYU are ranked ahead of the Utes in all ranking services. This obviously is pointing again to a team that shot it's wad early then peters out quickly as the season moves on. The Utes are razor thin in depth at all skill positions and are unlikely to ever be a factor in anyone's college football conversation. Best they just focus on playing well in their small JUCO stadium on the hill.

Until BYU actually does beat Boise, the smart money is on the Broncos (if I were a bettin' man).

BYU has the momentum, Spencer Hadley, BSU is riddled with injuries with qb and starting running backs out. It should be an impressive BYU win. I completely disagree on the comment of BYU having the superior athletes. I think if BSU had their starting running backs they would be much better than BYU's. Its really hard to tell on the defense but playing at home advantage BYU. Coaching edge to Chris Petersen. It should be a blowout but with excellent athletes and a great coach BSU hangs in there. BSU has been in this exact position against Oklahoma so that is why the outcome is determined on the field. Utah would be in trouble if they were playing BYU this weekend.

Utah State has a Outland Trophy winner in Merlin Olsen...

Some people like to think every BYU article is really about utah. So think of this:
utah all time record against pac 12 opponents - 84-134-6 .375
utah record in all pac 12 games since 2011 - 8-14 .363
U gotta love that pac 12 membership...go ahead and put another pac 12 sticker on your car.
One of my friends told me the other day that he loves the pac 12 networks. That's cool. I'll take ESPN and BYUtv any day.

But one team in Utah already won its bowl game. Way back in September. And it belongs to the PAC 10.2. And it won a game against a top 10 ranked team. And it has superior athletes and coaches. And it can't get to .500. But it is clearly the dominate and best team in the whole wide world.

@Veritas Aequitas: Yes I knew about Merlin Olsen. My post was more to illustrate to Chris B and all of the BYU haters that if they are going to pound their chests about two BCS bowls as proof that they are in a "prestigious" group (having accomplished nothing else in their history) that he'd best come up with a longer list of accomplishments on the pedigree if he really intends to push that tripe.

Hey Chris. The utes are in a prestigious conference but the U are not prestigious, and will not be until U guys can garner a winning record. With the exception of Oregon the PAC10.2 is not the second best AQ conference in the country. Not even third.

Hendrick should have been the starter the last 2 seasons. To start Southwick is a Bronco Riley type of move. How do you even figure BYU has superior athletes? How many BYU players besides Ziggy has gone in the last 3 NFL drafts compared to BSU? 14-1? 3 in the first round. And after all is said and done probably 4 or 5 more off of the class they have now. If BYU is to ever beat BSU this is the year to do it. With it being a down year. Both teams are very similar and it should be a very competitive game. It shows you were our programs are 10-2, 9-3 is an awesome year for BYU. Its considerd a down year for BSU. I look for another game similar to last week for BYU. High scoring and close.

Agreed. I was pointing out to Chris B that USU is in an elite crowd that Chris does not even belong to, even with the invite.

It's good to see a Broncos fan on the comments. Welcome aboard. Sorry about the vermin who clutter it up with irrelevant stuff about a team we will be playing less often than we will be playing you in the coming years. Some pests are just hard to get rid of. We've moved on--they haven't

I agree--high scoring and close.

Aren't Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas part of prestigious conferences too? My answer to that is "so what?" They're still hopeless on the football field and have lost all hope of making a high-paying bowl game. Being in a conf isn't very prestigious if you can only win one or two games now is it?

Talk about tripe--you've got to go all the way back to the Reagan Administration in order to claim relevance today!!

Too funny.

I'm thinking that I feel better with Hedrick under center for this game. It might not be fair to Southwick, but even though he was throttled back by the O.C. in their last meeting the fact is he did not score. I just wish that Hedrick had a couple of games as starter under his belt.
BYU has shown some good football this year. I think if BSU's defense can step up like the did in the second half against USU things could get interesting. I think the 7 point spread is about right, but if the Broncos can get it clicking it'll be BSU by 7.

@JohnInSLC
actually from 06-09 BYU was a top 10 program. That is relevant in my opinion.
