I think our cougar's going to turn their cougar blue at the end of the
competition. Taking a line from Chris B (not so famous Ute Fan) "Mark that
down". LOL!Go Blue Coug.
Using Sagarin's predictor values puts Houston at 75 (including home field
advantage) and BYU at 82, so BYU should win this game. But, while I didn't
check, I'm pretty sure Sagarin's predictor showed Utah losing to
Stanford and we all know the Utes did a great job of scheming for
Stanford's weaknesses. BYU will be the best opponent Houston has faced so
far and it should be a fun game to watch!
Not really excited about playing another team that is wearing red. We
haven't had much luck against red in the past few years.

For the toughest schedule in byu's history, that certainly is living up to
the hype. One and only one team currently in the top 25: 25
I wouldnt get too cocky. 4 of the last 6 on the road. First time your team gets
on a plane. Season is only half done a lot of teams could end up in the top 25
that either team plays or out of it for that matter. What is kind of funny
Stanford loses again they could be out of the rankings? Don't count
your chickens before they hatch. Both teams have beaten a ranked opponent this
year. Where those teams end up nobody knows.
I am 100% sure the Cougars will win this game.
I will be at the game supporting the Red Cougars. Frankly, I never thought I
would hear the term "defensive-minded Houston" since high speed
pass-happy offense is generally our trade in stock. As a fan I say the red
Cougars will win the day because of home-field and if the defense can control
Hill's legs then Houston should win.As a realist BYU is a 9.5
point favorite and I have to agree as of now the blue cougars seem to be the
better all-around team. Either way I think it will be a fun game and I hope to
see many more match ups between the two schools.Good luck.
Despite Chris B's constant put down of our Cougars on every article,
I'm wildly proud of them and wish them luck this weekend. Hope
there's no underestimating those Houston cougars!Go Cougars!
Good luck to the Utes and Aggies too the rest of the season!
Wait wasn't it Wisconsin that got snookered by some Pac 12 home
cookin'? Of course, we aren't surprised this has been the M.O. for
Pac 12 officiating and athletics in general.
@Chris B - "For the toughest schedule in byu's history, that certainly

Wisconsin"U are right, but four of our opponents are in the next
10 (also receiving votes). Don't be surprised if Texas wins the Big12,
they are in the drivers seat. Notre Dame has an easier month ahead, they will
be back in the Top 25. How will U do the next four games? Will U show that you
can make a run in the PAC and get to the Top 25? Or will the results show that
Stanford was an aberation and U are not very good, weakening our schedule? Houston is no pushover either. As Chris B likes to point out, another
game against a BCS school. Looking forward to the game. It should be a good
GT is not a passing team and seemed to light up our secondary at will,
especially on 3rd down. I think Houston will cause a lot of problems for our
secondary. Not too confident in our ability to defend the pass. Not happy to
say it, but BYU loses by 10 on Sat.
LOL. SoUTBoy. Yes, it takes PAC-12 Officiating crew to skew the wins in favor
of the mighty PAC10.2. PAC officials are in a couple of controversial games
every year. Wisconsin won that game and should be ranked.
BYU's offense sputtered in the 3rd quarter because on 5 consecutive drives
he spent 9 of 14 1st and 2nd down plays DIVING INTO THE 7 MAN FRONT (A GAP
READS). ANAE continually left the team in 3rd and long situations like he had
during the entire UTAH and Virginia games. Oregon State had given BYU the
perfect game plan to defeat UTAH and Robert Anae still pounded the ball into the
A-GAP on 70% of 1st and 2nd down plays. Finally against GT he threw 50% of the
time on those downs in the first half and raked the Jackets for 357 yards. His
team gains 9 yards in the 3rd quarter and GT did not change their defense AT
ALL. They simply stayed in their base 7 flex front and crowded the A GAP. Now
Bronco better figure out that if his FANS are smarter than his unbelievably
stubborn OC, what does that say about his OC?
Voodohound99Provo, UTLOL. SoUTBoy. Yes, it takes PAC-12 Officiating

Should they be ranked losing to them?
Pavalova makes an interesting point, but not a valid one. BYU gave up the long
passes just like every other team that has played Tech. Tech was averaging 18
yards per completion coming in, all on
LEDSFWSpot on assessment of Robert Anae! I couldn't agree more! Now
if only Bronco would open his eyes and see this and if only Anae would come to
the realization, the offense could finally be a force to be reckoned with!
@Chris B you must have missed Texas thrashing of ranked Oklahoma, haha,
where's USU and Weber State ranked?
Memphis held Houston to 39 rushing yards this past weekend. There's a
reason Houston has no AP points even though they're undefeated. So far
their best opponent is Rice which they beat by a touchdown. I would expect BYU
to win this. I imagine Houston will be a 3-4 loss team in the end (BYU,
Louisville and Rutgers should beat them, and maybe UCF too).As for
BYUs schedule as a whole, it was looking pretty bad but with Texas, Wisconsin,
and Utah winning in rather notable fashion last week that'll strengthen
things. At this point Boise, Wisconsin and Notre Dame are the only remaining
games I would consider BYU an underdog in so they should be comfortably at least
7-5 at season's end.
I think most Y fans would like to see Hill run as effectively as he is doing,
but also go through the progressions of being a passing QB at the Y. He appears
to be fixated on Hoffman 7 out of 10 times. Occasionally, he will divert to
other targets. Makes me wonder where Apo goes each game. He only gets one ball
thrown his way, and it's usually in the first half. As for the other
receivers, it's good to see other targets emerge. If the line
can give him time, he should be able to move the ball against Houston. It would
be interesting to see him, look targets off, and deliver the ball on target. I
see the ball being thrown behind receivers, low, and other-wise off
target/timing. i'm sure he did those things in high school and through the
off season. Perhaps that will start to happen Saturday...hopefully.
@LEDSFW Not true on GT not changing up their D in the second half.
They went from zone to man coverage and Taysom Hill said after the game
that's what threw off the O in the second half.
Chris BTime in MWC BYU 140 championshipsUtah 61 (0 since entering
Pac-12)Football isn't everythingGo all Utah teams
@BeSmart,Yes football is everything. Go ask every power
Stanford was over rated. They wouldn't beat Georgia Tech, or Texas.
Congrats to BYU for getting a 3 star tight end's commit today. Had offers
from 3 Pac-12 schools.
Should be another easy BYU win.
Turtles run:Thanks for commenting about the game at hand, and the article.
It should be a great game. BYU will be ready for Houston defensively. I think
this will be a lower scoring game than most people realize. To the
troll...if football was everything why in the world is Utah in a power
conference when BYUs resume makes the ute's look like a part time
concessions cashier at Lagoon? Obviously research and academics matter...it
obviously had nothing to do with sports, let alone just football where the utes
have a whopping 6 WAC/MWC championships since the days of Woodstock &
Watergate, compared to BYUs 26. It's no wonder Utah fans make fun of the
WAC & MWC...U have to resort to something to hide your ineptitude and
mediocre history against them.
I think BYU is a totally different team now that they have their passing game
working. Hill is now a double threat and that is hard to defend. I just
don't know why they got away from that short passing game in the second
half with GT. Wisconsin and Notre Dame will be the tough ones.
Notre Dame is for real this year. I'll be torn in that game because
I'm a fan of both teams. I just hope everyone on both teams remain healthy
for that game and no honor code violations for BYU. Notre Dame use to have one,
but not so sure anymore.
I feel like BYU will win this game, but it has trap game written all over it. If
BYU plays well, they win by 14-17 points, but I feel this is a 7 or under game.
I hope I am wrong. If we win it will be a good win, but I agree that Houston
will end up more like 7-5 or 8-4 at best. They are hitting the meat of their
schedule now. Go BYU Cougs!
LEDSFWSpot on assessment of Anae's management of the GT game and
other past games. The only thing I might add is that the O-line has yet to
arrive. They pretty much laid down in the 2nd half and have been hit and miss
throughout the year.
Christopher BIf football is everything then we won't see posts during
Great comment cougsndawgsfor what BYU stands for it is great in their
athletics. For Utah I am happy for them in the Pac-12 and their victory but
have some respect. After all you were the Pac-12s back up plan.If you
don't think BYU being a private institution that won't play on sundays
doesn't effect their conference affiliation go back to when the Big 8
expanded to 12
@alt134 wrote "Memphis held Houston to 39 rushing yards this past
weekend." What you forgot to include was that Houston got two
touchdowns from those 39 yards. As for Rice, they are the same Rice that had
Texas A&M in trouble for 3 quarters. I won't pretend Houston has had a
tough schedule but do not think for one minute this will be a cake walk for
BYU.Hoping for a good clean game.
@BeSmart - I do not believe that BYU's refusal to play on Sundays is
affecting their ability to join any conference. I know the Big East (now AAC)
were trying to woe them but BYU really had nothing to gain there. The Big 12
would be a great fit and would open up the fertile Texas recruiting region. I think BYU is doing fine as an independent. Sure the none BCS label
hurts but I do not see this team being able to consistently play with the top
teams from the SEC or Big 12 anytime soon. No insult intended.
@ Chris B - Salt Lake City, UT - "For the toughest schedule in byu's
history, that certainly is living up to the hype. One and only one team
currently in the top 25: 25 Wisconsin LOL"Hey, Chris, you know
that list of Cougar opponents NOT in the top 25 includes YOUR team, right? Oops....GO COUGARS!
@ Turtles RunI agree BYU would have a hard time competing week in and week
out, but that is unknown.I disagree, when A&M and Missouri left the
first team the Big 12 flew to was BYU.Don't know why it didn't
work out, but rumor (I know it is just a rumor) is that BYU didn't want to
give up their tier 3 tv rights and sunday play were the issues. (plenty of
articles if you google it)
