Decent win If byu can have a simple conversation, I would be curious
if you guys would rather be 4-2, having lost to your rival four years in a row,
having lost your quest hours after it started to a terrible Virginia team, have
no chance at bcs glory and no conference title to fight for?Or be
4-2 against harder schedule with a win against national title contender top 5
undefeated Stanford and be alive for a power conference title and rose bowl?Everyone is different, just curious what you guys think is better?
Chris B, to paraphrase coach Edwards years ago, I would rather lose every game
and be a BYU fan, than win them all and be an obsessed BYU hater like you.
Christopher B. I know you would makes some sort of statement like this, which
makes it hard to cheer for U of U when we are not playing them. I made a
nice comment on Utah win on a Utah article, wont do it here since it is a BYU
article. Way to go BYU it was good win in that there was both passing and
rushing. I would have liked to have seen more points in the second half and not
all the three and outs. Still it got done to night for BYU. Now it is time to
think of the next game, which will also be a hard one to win. Just need two more
wins and BYU will go to a bowl game.
Wow! A win over Stanford and BYU is the main focus.BYU is the
measurement of ute sucess no matter what,
Altcoug,It's a relevant question Byu fans have been
saying all year byu was the better team. I am curious if that crazy
notion is stil l supported?
Chris B, just in case you aren't familiar with the quote that I paraphrased
from coach Edwards (although you probably are, since you obsess over reading
everything about BYU that you can find), years ago BYU lost a game in a blinding
snowstorm in Laramie. The next day when he got up on Sunday, coach Edwards
looked out his window at a beautiful fall morning in Provo, and said, "I
would rather lose and live in Provo than win and live in Laramie". That
didn't exactly endear him to Wyoming fans but many of them were as obsessed
about hating BYU as you are, so he probably didn't make than many more
enemies with his statement.
ChrisBI'll make a bet with you. At the end of the year BYU will be
ranked ahead of Utah. When, not if, that happens, then you can take your
disagreement to the EXPERTS who proved my point with their "crazy
notion" of rankings. Fair? That said, the reason I'm fine
with BYU not being in a conference (for now) is that Utah isn't winning a
championship or going to a major bowl this year. So in other words, they
aren't playing for anything BYU isn't playing for...a mid to lower
tier bowl game. No conference affiliation is needed for that last I checked.
This is crazy. It would be awesome if both sets of fans complimented each other
on how good their teams are becoming. Utah is a few plays from being undefeated
and a few plays from having 1 win. BYU is a few plays from being undefeated. Both of these Utah teams are probably top 25 teams. Both sets of fans should
be happy. Both teams have tough road games Utah at Arizona USC Oregon and
a pretty good Washington State team. BYU at Wisconsin and at Notre Dame, also a
pretty solid Houston team.My guess is that both teams will probably reach
the top 25 and both sets of fans should celebrate that.
BeSmart,Amen!!! Thanks for putting into words what I feel about the whole
So, getting back to the article, I'd like to know what happened to the
offense the second half. It seems that Anae went back to his usual of calling
two throw away plays and putting Hill into third and long. That makes it
extremely easy for a defense not to mention painful for the fans to watch. Why
doesn't he keep playing to win rather than playing not to lose?I
think the offense has potential but it is being wasted by the play calling.
Chris, seriously.Utah just earned the biggest win in its PAC-12
history, and you're still trolling BYU articles? That's
really, really pathetic. It confirms what most BYU fans have known for years:
There are very few true Utah fans; there are many BYU haters.
BeSmart@Double Amen!!@Chris BYes I would rather be
in the Pac 12, but I wasn't invited. Yes, I would rather be 4-2 in your
situation and just knocked off a major team, but that doesn't mean I
can't be super stoked my team just played a great game. Yes I'd still
rather be a BYU fan and support my team regardless of a situation I have no
control over. Good Job Utes! Go Cougars! Also, Yes, I would still rather be
independent than in the Mountain West. Yes, I would rather play on ESPN almost
every game than on CBS or the MTN. Yes, I love seeing my team play all over the
country even if they aren't in a conference. I still am happy with our
situation despite acknowledging the Utes situation is better, but once again, I
can't control that or worry about that. I think both teams are doing great
and am happy for their success. I hope to see UTAH win the Pac 12 every year,
but still lose to BYU. Go Utah and Go Cougars!
Everyone knows the BCS is the most corrupt sports organization ever to exist on
this planet. If certain teams dream of that glory, that tells you what kind of a
program they are. I'd rather win and have goals for national
championships, grow Heisman trophy winners, win conference championships, gain
national exposure for recruits and everyone else, have character and values in
the program, than have a goal to lust for corruption. BYU is lucky to never
have had a hand in that disaster of that organization.A dominating
win vs an ACC opponent for two years in a row, led by a coach who has won
championships, is as solid of a win as you can come by. BYU is a complete team
now. Just need to get the TE's involved and this is a stellar team.
Chris B, your original comment had nothing to do with BYU fans saying they were
better than Utah. It was back-handed attempt to slam BYU and gloat that Utah
is in the Pac 12. Utah won the head-to-head game against BYU. If they played
again, would Utah still win? Perhaps, but I do think that BYU had improved
tremendously from that first disastrous game in Virginia (I was there to witness
their ineptness). It is a shame that the rivalry game couldn't still be
played at the end of the year. Utah can gloat about winning; they earned that
right. But your first comment/question had nothing to do with who BYU fans
thought was the better team. I am happy for the Utes for beating Stanford. It
makes their win over BYU more meaningful. I cheered loudly for Utah when they
upset Alabama. I am not a Utah hater, I am a BYU lover!!!! It is a shame, for
your sake, that you are such a BYU hater that your hate seems to consume you.
Rating Taysom's PassingAfter a rough start, Taysom Hill is
steadily improving his passing game. From dead last, 123rd, only a
few weeks ago, Taysom is now up to 106th with a 106.1 passing efficiency rating
for the season, but over 150 each of the last two games.Interestingly, Taysom is now ahead of Jake Heaps who is 108th at 104.6.Travis Wilson, who started hot, and was in the Top 10 early in the
season, has dropped to 43rd at 144.9, but has finished well behind Taysom each
of the last two games.
Correction, Taysom is up to 102nd with a passing efficiency of 106.1. Jake Heaps
is at 104th.
Is it possible both Utah, & BYU can have good football teams?
Christopher BOgden, UTDecent win If byu can have a
simple conversation===Dude, I do not believe you can have a
conversation with BYU, or Texas or Standford for that matter...But
if you could, please answer me this. Would you rather be an apple or an orange?
