I like this kind of thing. In our state, and some others I believe, and in Salt
Lake County we now hear, local government is replacing, temporarily at least, a
gargantuan, overloaded and overpowerful central authority. We are a
nation originally founded on a limited federation of states, each composed of
semi-autonomous counties. The Central government was contrived to be strong
enough for defense from foreign enemies (and domestic in some cases) with a
uniform naturalization code, fast roads, and post offices, a uniform coinage,
uniform weights and measures, domestic free trade, copyright and patent law etc.
The local units of governments, closer to the people, are I believe
open to contrive their own systems of health care, and social well being,
policing etc. That is easier to control at the local level, or should be.Well done all involved.
