Here are the facts as I see them.
BYU could have and should have beaten Virginia, but didn't.
BYU could have and should have beaten Utah, but didn't.
BYU can have and should beat Georgia Tech, but we'll see.
BYU can and should win enough games to go to a bowl, but we'll see.
Now let's put it on the field and get the job done the rest of the way.

As far as Utah goes, we'll...

Go Cougars and Utes.

Here are some facts that summarize utah's season.

1. You have the state championship certificate to hang in your nearly empty showcase. Congratulations
2. Your team beat Weber, then the whole nation...didn't even notice.
3. Besides Weber your only other wins are against teams that you claim to be unworthy of your presence. (Aren't you supposed to beat lesser mid-majors when you're in the big boy club?)
4. You are O-2 in the PAC.
4a. You will likely be 0-3 in the PAC this weekend-for the 3rd consecutive season...without having even left the state of Utah to play a game in the first half of your season.
5. You are O-fer against PAC teams with winning records.
6. Your QB had a worse passer rating than BYU's in their most recent game.
6a. 6 Interceptions doesn't a high caliber QB make. (I know, I know, it was the receivers, refs, flu's fault. Have I missed any excuses??)
7. Your team can't convert on 3rd down.
8. Your obsession with BYU is comical.
9. You are dismissed by fans of your own team as an embarrassment.

Chris, nothing new here. We have all heard it before. Hopefully the Y will continue to improve and we will play in a bowl game. Maybe even finish in the top 20. What the future will bring for both schools is a story yet to be told. Will the U be able to continue to get 'star' recruits if they continue to lose in the PAC-12? Will the Y start attracting better recruits as they play all over the country against nationally recognized programs? Will BYU continue to remain independent? Lot's of unknowns. The Y and U will play again in a few years and we'll see where both programs are then. It should be interesting because I believe both schools will be starting 'new' quarterbacks that season. So until then good luck.

Relative to other teams BYU and GT are probably pretty similar in rank (both somewhere near 40th), but BYU's defense, run game, and experience with the likes of Air Force and GT last year (making it much faster for BYU than other teams to adjust to GTs offense) makes BYU a really bad matchup for GT to try and handle.

Unfortunately for U, one game does not a season make.

The Jeff Sagarin Ratings have BYU ranked 29th, Utah 34th and Utah State 38th.

USA Today has BYU ranked 37th, Utah 49th and Utah State 58th.

CBS Sports has Utah ranked 51st, BYU 52nd and Utah State 60th.

Consensus?

What does University of Utah football have to do with this article? Why are you bringing the Utes into these comments about BYU? BYU lost to Utah this year, that is a fact. Get over it, move on, and be happy!
