Go Utes!

Best team in the state.

And closing the gap on the Pac 12 teams(see #12 ucla game down to last second)

Once we get one of these big wins, we'll never look back. I think UCLA is a better team than Stanford. And to think, if Wilson only has 2-3 picks we win that game by 14 points. Heck, even with 5 picks we win that game. I'm more confident now than ever against Stanford. Dennis Erickson is legit, and our defense has been solid for years.

Utah 32
Stanford 27

And it will be the best win for any Utah school in the last 20 years.

Go Utes!

this is a good sign, although I want Sitake to blitz more and stunt on the line. Be more agressive.

GO UTES!!

Love the sacks, D! Now go create some fumbles, more pick-6s, and more W's!

Here's to the defense and the offense uniting for a complete team victory on Saturday!

Go Utes!

Best Team in the State

The Jeff Sagarin Ratings have BYU ranked 29th, Utah 34th and Utah State 38th.

USA Today has BYU ranked 37th, Utah 49th and Utah State 58th.

CBS Sports has Utah ranked 51st, BYU 52nd and Utah State 60th.

Consensus?

BYU > Utah > Utah St

Here's a novel idea: Pit these teams in games against each other, and find out which team is better!

I'm with sportsfan. Never, ever consider the final score as the ultimate measuring stick.

Reliance on consensus opinions may be how cougs fans attempt to "beat" Utah. Never mind the actual head-to-head games that have resulted in four consecutive victories for the Utes...! lol

@ernie

I'm with ernie, never consider a teams entire body of work when deciding such things, only focus on one single factor to make all decisions as there are never any other factors but one. That's why texas a&m won the national championship last year.

Welcome back Ducky!

How was Tulsa??

Go Utes!!

Onward and Upward!

Yeah, let's look at those bodies of work: each team has the same record, each team has a win over USU, Team A has losses to a 4-1 team and a 5-0 team, Team B has losses to a 2-3 team and... Team A!

Hey - wasn't at least one of those sacks by #50, Pita Taumoepenu. Wasn't he supposed to be at byU? Didn't the UC talking heads say he would never play a down at Utah?

Hmmm .... I wonder what happened there?

Go Utes!

Onward and Upward!!

This is an impressive statistic even if a boat load of those sacks came against only Weber and byu.

The fact remains...the Ute D is young and very inexperienced on game 1. Looking good indeed!

Go Utes...make sure the Cardinal remembers their visit to our house!!

Games are decided on the field. These ranking and rating systems are skewed. Especially the bologna of Sagarin ratings. Maybe we should all just huddle around and wait for David Locke to deduce some concrete reason why rocket science tells us who is the better team.

Ranking and rating systems are similar to the BCS. They are just more of an agenda, the kind of which is corrupting college sports all around. Utah's win over BYU was only one game but it's where bragging rights should come. BYU wants to win that game like no other and falls each year. Next year they don't have to worry about losing to Utah. Instead, we can all enjoy BYU fans telling us how great BYU is by winning 10 games against their weakest schedule EVER! I thought the first two years was where these independent kinks were going to be worked out schedule wise.

Utah has struggled to have a legit pass rush for years, even when their defense has been strong.

Last years sack total was crazy good especially since Utah wasn't getting out in front and winning games. It's always easier to tally sacks when you have the lead and teams become one dimensional by playing from behind and having to throw.

Many teams were running the clock out on Utah while Utah was playing catch up. The sack total surprised me all of last year in that regard. How do you finish 5-7 and play the tough schedule Utah has and be atop the nation in sacks.
