If he's too sick to play then don't play him. If he's not too sick then he isn't sick. I trust whit's judgment. It's not like he played a qb with a broken back all season.

The refs kept letting them foul our quarterback and that wasn’t not fair either.

While UCLA's defense is as talented as almost any in the country, they're not always disciplined or fundamentally sound. Stanford's is just as talented, but is very fundamentally sound. If he misses the first few days of practice, I don't like the chances for an upset bid this weekend at all.

Several of the tipped passes were tips because they weren't thrown dead-on. One was too high, the other behind him and the receivers were trying to get a hand on the ball to haul it in. Those are on the QB. The only ones that weren't on him were those thrown at the chest and dropped. Tipped at the line is a failure of the QB to be aware of the rush, especially with a guy 6'7". In the end they are all on him.

Do any Ute fans believe the Utes have a chance against Stanford?

This is a sad year for Utah if they can't get wins on their home field...and they have more home games than ever. Wasted opportunity.

ASU and Arizona might be their only chances to get a bowl game (counting Colorado as a win -- which it is not a certainty).

Of course. It's not like it's Florida International vs Oregon. They have a chance. Not a very good one, but if they can throw five picks and still take UCLA down to the final play (the last pick was the final play so I can't list it as something that happened before) the team clearly has potential for an upset of that caliber.

Don't forget Washington State. That game'll be easier than ASU or Arizona. USC is entirely possible too, after all Utah State gave them a good run.

RockOn, Of course we have a chance against Stanford. You byU fans said we had no shot against UCLA, and that game went down to the very last play.

Rock On: Fans always think they have a chance. That's what makes sports great. Being the underdog is fun. Especially when you are playing teams like Stanford. Of course, being the underdog to a team like Idaho would take the fun out of it.

Did ya win that one, Chrissy?

A sick WILSON IS BETTER than the backup? BYU found that was not so last year.

Utah has a chance against Stanford. BYU has to take second place in the standings of the state. However at the end of the season they could be better than Utah. But as a BYU fan I say Utah better now.

Wow, that was awful

Utah fans that I associate with always have a back door reason for not succeeding. Kyle Whittingham sounds like sour grapes for even bringing that up. He played the whole game, great for Wilson for gutting it out, but why mention that?

Excuses always stink.

I agree with Wow - the only reason Whit would mention this is to make an excuse - to try and elicit "sympathy" for Wilson's atrocious performance. Otherwise, why mention it at all?

All picks are on Wilson... every single last one of them.
QB's take the credit on completion rate when a receiver makes a circus catch on a bad pass or when a lineman makes that extra long block to protect them... they take credit on the picks. Man up.

I didn't watch the whole game, but saw the highlights.
It was clear UCLA underestimated a Ute defense that came out swinging. Utah's Defense played the best game anyone could expect with Wilson giving up SIX interceptions, with the last one that should have been a pick six if the UCLA defender had not taken a knee.
So far Wilson has thrown 4 TD's and 9 Int's vs PAC-12 opponents and has yet to play the 4 top defenses in the conference (Stanford, USC, Oregon, ASU). That kind of QB play against good competition will never result in wins.
I have said it for 3 years now. Utah will not be truly competitive in the PAC-12 until 2016-17. And you have at least 2 more years of being under .500 and missing the post season. I think Kyle is a great coach and if Hill and the Ute fanbase can be patient he will bring the Utes back to winning.
In the meantime,
Utah 10
Stanford 27
Stanford is very physical and precise in every aspect of the game. Travis Wilson will have another spotty performance and the Cardinal will take advantage of it.

Yes, the Utes have a chance to beat Stanford. If you don't believe that, you might as well fold up and go home. Whether you are a fan, a player or a coach you have to believe in your team.

The utes chance of beating Stanford are slim to none. Mark this down Chris b; 34-14 and not in favor of the utes.

Once an excuse is given there is no taking it back. LOL

0-3 on Saturday, count on it.

Thanks to all the byU trollers flocking to yet another Utah story that has nothing to do with byU. I love how they constantly prove that they can't live a day without Utah.

You can debate all day and make all the silly claims you want, which may or may not come true, and have nothing to do with you. For me, I will once again drive to SLC and watch two solid programs from the Conference of Champions participate in a meaningful football game Saturday. Win or lose, this game has way more significance than any byU game after the Virginia loss. Once byU lost to Virginia, their whole season was cast in stone IF they can manage six wins. What a waste of a season! I mean, what else do you byU "fans" have to look forward to? Idaho State in November?

We love the trollers and they are welcome back always! We always love to see your support of the Ute program!

Go Utes!!

Fight On!:

You may be right in that Utah will not be "truly competitive", meaning winning week in and week out, until 2016, but that doesn't mean that Utah will be sub .500 until then either. The team is making huge strides even with the interceptions. Consider the distractions that Wilson was facing for both the OSU and the UCLA games. I'm not using those as excuses because they are part of the game. I'm also not saying that would would have, could have or should have won the games, because they are over, and we didn't. What I am saying is that I have to see Wilson perform in the future without those distractions in order to judge where the team may go for the rest of the season.

What I do see is one or two wins against Stanford, UA, ASU, and/or USC, with wins against Wassu and Colorado. That makes Utah bowl eligible this year with significantly stronger and more experienced offense, o-line, linebackers, etc for next year.

The two cents of an accountant, for what they are worth!

Thanks for the intelligent and thoughtful banter.

Go Utes!

Onward and Upward.
