The federal government has make too many situations where people can't have guns. Probably this is why states don't cooperate.

The feds disallow anybody who has been convicted of a felony of owning a gun for life. This includes non violent offences.

States who don't cooperate with the federal government probably believe the feds are wrong in denying non violent people or people who aren't likely to become non violent the right to defend themselves and their families.

Yeah, and that's the reason the background checks are so ridiculous and respect for the Second Amendment is so important.

We know liberals will never allow access to the medical records necessary to make background checks relevant, and even if they did, it wouldn't appreciably affect access by people that are mentally ill to guns or other weapons they might use to commit mass murder.

So, we've got to be able to protect ourselves -- when seconds count and police are minutes away.
