Very excited for this game. While disappointing both the UCLA and Oregon State games were extremely entertaining. I think the Utes do have a chance to win this game but it will take both sides of the ball playing to their potential all 4 quarters which we haven't really seen this year. Hopefully that changes this week and Utah walks off the field Saturday with a signature conference win. I still think win or lose Utah can be bowl eligible but with a loss it'll become much more difficult. Good luck this week Utah

No but they beat a top 5 SEC team in the Sugar Bowl. fYI BYU hasn't won, or even been, to a BCS bowl.....EVER!
BYU has lost to Utah FOUR YEARS IN A ROW!

Ouch!

"I can't wait to see the look on BYU fans faces when mighty Utah takes down one of the best teams in the nation."

Since you've never beaten a Top 5 team at home, you may be waiting a very long time.

Utah's flash-in-the-pan bcs success is quickly fading - the Utes haven't beaten a single AP Top 25 team since their Sugar Bowl win over a disinterested Alabama team over four years ago.

btw, Alabama finished #6 in both polls; the Utes have NEVER beaten a team the finished in the Top 5 in either poll.

@ Pac 12 Pride,

"Some teams are happy to beat up on the likes of Idaho, Middle Tennessee, Nevada.

Others man up and embrace playing Oregon, UCLA, ASU, Stanford, Michigan. And the gap between them and us is narrower than ever(see barely losing to UCLA)."

You know as well as I know that if BYU could schedule the likes of Oregon, UCLA, ASU, Stanford, Michigan, etc, they would. I doubt very highly that Utah could schedule them either if they were in an independent status as BYU. Please enjoy and embrace your good fortune of being in a great conference and stop the condescending attitude. No matter how much you love to pound your chest and flaunt your status as a member of a conference of champions, until you actually start winning, it's nothing but empty rhetoric.

I want Utah to do well and be wildly successful in their conference. I've said that in several posts before. Unlike some of my fellow Cougar fans, I believe the Utes are on the verge of breaking out. If that happens, I'll be very proud of them. Moral victories is nothing to brag about.

Go Cougars! Go Utes! Go Aggies!

Let's forgo all the stats and figures from years gone past, shall we? Who won, on the field, this year? the year before? the year before? the year before? Can't spin the score board now can you? I do look forward to your attempt though. Will you use the officials, the weather, we played poorly or the one game does not make a season card?

@ thebigsamoan

Nice comment and great to see a civil and constructive comment from what I assume is a real BYU fan. That's cool, and nice for a change.

"Horseshoes, hand grenades and Chris B's post game analysis of Utes football."

In his mind, they're going to beat Stanford because they were "close", and that's all that "counts."

You all realize that unless you are a coach, AD, booster or player, you as a fan have NOTHING to do with "your" team's success and failure don't you? I love trash talk from fans. They all act like they actually have something to do with the success of their team and the failure of the other. I love BYU more than anything--except maybe Batman, but I never talk trash to other fans because it's pointless.

It's easy saying how good "your" team is or how bad "their" team is when you watch comfortably from the stands or your couch.

Why?

Who won the head-to-head, on the field, between Alabama and Texas A&M last season?
Who won the national championship?

When you can honestly answer, without any spin, why Alabama won the 2012 national championship, instead of Texas A&M, then, you'll have your answer why one game does not a season make, especially when 14 of the last 17 games have been decided by a touchdown or less in the closing minutes or in overtime.

Apparently, not too many agree with your one game, head-to-head, winner takes all spin.

Things can certainly change by season's end, but currently, BYU is winning the race for in-state supremacy.

Chris B,
That is some spin and you call BYU fans delusional!!! You have a lot of If's in your first post but the fact is you lost!!! Plain and simple, just like BYU lost to Utah!!! Both games were decided by the same point differential and both losing teams had the ball and had good drives stopped by interceptions that sealed the games for the winning teams!!! BYU has moved on from their loss and Utah needs to do the same!!! I think Stanford has too many weapons for the Utes to win but I also think it will depend on turnovers!!! If Utah can win or be close in the turn over battle they will be close and maybe even upset Stanford!!!

Go BYU!!!

@Pac 12 Pride

That little brother mentality really comes through strong when, even in an article that has nothing to do with BYU, you just cant help trying talk smack about BYU. And your smack is WEAK! You emphasize the weakest teams on BYU's schedule while emphasizing the strongest on Utah's schedule, conveniently forgetting to mention the Weber State and Colorado (one of worst D1 teams in nation) games on your schedule, while overlooking the Texas, Wisconsin, Boise State and Notre Dame games on BYU's schedule. Only somebody whose name references their conference pride, rather than their TEAM pride could have that much insecurity in their own team. Good luck making it to a bowl game... AGAIN!

How rad is that? Freaking phenomenally rad!

More exciting to host conference opponent #5 Stanford, than New Mexico or Colorado State...! lol

Go Utes! Offense and defense, unite! You CAN defeat The Tree!

@Solomon Levi: Utah hasn't beaten a Top 5 team at home... EVER!

But we have one on the road in bowl game, AP #4 Bama.

@Pavalova: Btw, must be nice to have so many home games to start the year. Has the U even traveled to play anyone besides going to Provo?

No. Has BYU traveled to play a real team besides Keeton-less Utah State?

No, Virginia does not count. That's like playing a D2 team on the road.

@PAC12Snide:

"Struggling in the PAC 12 is vastly better than playing nobodies in a nobody conference where nobody cares. "

So, until "The PAC-12 Utah Men" actually beat a member of their conference with a winning record, we'll just refer to them as "The PAC-12 Ottoman"

It's interesting that you correctly stated that "Miami did not finish the 1990 season ranked #1". (The defending NC Hurricanes finished #3 in 1990.)

But you chose to conveniently overlook the fact that Alabama did not finish the 2008 season ranked #4. (The Crimson Tide finished #6 in 2008.)

btw, if BYU playing a big five conference team on the road is like playing a D2 team, doesn't that make Utah finishing their season every year playing Colorado like adopting a D2 team as Utah's new "rival"?

The Buffs were 5-21 in 2011 and 2012; Virginia was 12-13 in 2011 and 2012, including wins versus then #12 Ga Tech (same team Utah barely beat in the Sun Bowl) and versus then #25 Florida St.

The crimson-colored bubble that Utah fans constantly live in is hilarious.
