Although Mormon religion may not have a direct segue to ancient superstitious religious rituals, the Mormon church has emulated and incorporated much of man's fear and superstitions into their present day worship. This seems like somewhat of a disconnect because of today's modern science and knowledge, because of Mormonisms's claim to current day revelation. Therefore one might rightly expect an up to date new account to explain today's world rather than ancient traditions and superstitions

I would disagree. The LDS Church does not promote fear or superstition in it's teachings. As for modern science and knowledge, it's theories and direction are always evolving. The LDS church embraces Science more so than others. What was unknown becomes known. What was feared becomes understood, but to proclaim that today's realm of knowledge has expanded to the point that it can explain all things is irrational.
