Why does anyone care whether or not someone else is married?
If you want to encourage people marry then encourage change in the tax code so middle class Americans can have buying power again. Nobody is going to get married if they can't afford it.

If I were a women, which I am not, I could understand the retisance of a women to get married. Under traditional marriage, women too often were not treated as equals - with different jobs - but equals none-the-less.

Example, a lady in our ward wanted to go back to work, her kids now raised and either in college or married. Her husband refused to "allow" her to do so. Excuse me? He is in every other outwardly way, an honorable man. But the idea he has the right of "allowing" or not allowing his with to do things..... what... is she a child in this relationship. I would hope my daughter would not marry such a man.

So on a cost\benefit analysis basis - I see why some women have decided that marriage isn't worth it.

I would love to get married. It is important and can bring a wonderful lifetime shared with someone. I do share my life with someone. I have been for fifteen years and it feels great. It is the way it should be. Too bad their are so many people who tell me I can't get married. Yeah, sometimes I want to throw up when I read these articles about marriage. There is so much hypocrisy and self righteousness! I thank God I didn't listen to these people. My life would be so empty without him. It really isn't right! When it comes down to it, marriage is what two people make it. I have loved every bit of it and I mean that with all my heart. I don't need anybody's permission to reach out and get it! It has taken years, but I think my family finally sees us as being together! Maybe it is the fact that we are told we can't have it, that makes us realize how important being together really is. It beats going through this life alone! Nobody should have to be alone
