The first two comments made are just foolish, cold hearted, and ignorant. I think if they had any indication of how difficult of a situation this is for this young man and his family, they would be ashamed of what they have said.

To the Galland family my heart and prayers go out to you. Our family has faced, and is dealing with, a very similar situation. I know there are many good and wonderful people that you will find and that will be a blessing for your family and your son. Let me just say that as your son continues his therapy and progress that I would recommend a world-class physical therapy facility in South Jordan that specializes in spinal cord injury. (I can't say their name since it will violate the DesNews commentary rules but I'm sure you can find them via google.) Neuroworx

May the choices blessings of the Lord be with you.

Kollin, you're awesome! Your positive attitude will take you far in life and you will be an inspiration and great example to others in life! We all have challenges, and it's how we choose to see them that's important! You will be a great roll model for other young people...and older people as well. I will add my prayers to all those other prayers spoke of in your article. I know Heavenly Father has a lot in store for you! You'll be a great missionary through this experience! Much love to you and your family!

A tragic end to an evening of fun with friends. Many people have little idea of how dangerous a trampoline can be, even with supervision. I see kids jumping on them in their yards, two or three together on the trampoline, not realizing that more than one person on it increases the risk of injury exponentially. Others have no guards to prevent kids from bouncing off the side and landing on the ground upside down or sideways. There's another near our home set up on sloping ground -- an invitation for disaster. If you have one, look at your homeowner's insurance and see if there is an exclusion for trampoline injuries, and, if there is, ask what it will cost for a rider to protect you when someone is hurt on it.

Personally, I'd rather have my kids juggling machetes. At least they know it's dangerous and will use extreme care. Children think that a trampoline is going to be safe and fun, and they get really careless on it.

Accidents happen. We can all learn something from this - from the accident, to the great response to it. Great story of faith, sacrifice, and goodness. Hope the best for your family going forward.

Kollin,

This life is not the reward. This life is the test!

Some people who have been blessed with a lot of money feel that they are being rewarded when in fact they are being tested to see how they will be able to use that money to improve the quality of life for all those around them.

You have been given a great trial to overcome and find the good in.

You will be given a great reward in Heaven and many blessings along the way as you choose to make the most of this situation.

We are all in this world together to learn from each other.

You can bring your family together like nobody else can! You can help make everyone realize how blessed they really are.

You are up for the challenge. You will be a great missionary!

The world needs you and all you bring to it.

"He was about to do a double blackflip, the trick he had perfected on the diving board, mastered on the trampoline, and even done while skiing."

So inspiring to see how this family has turned such a tragedy into something good. Hopefully they can be influential as they spread the word about the dangers of trampolines.

I met Gary (Kollin's dad) while I was up at Primary's for my little boy's heart surgery. They had been there for 3 weeks already. He is a great man and I was impressed with his positive attitude and faith in his boy. This a great family who has handled their many trials with grace. Kollin is blessed to have great parents sacrificing so much for him. I wish Kollin a speedy recovery so he can continue to influence those around him. God bless!
