u25Maybe for a week or two, but they always come back; just like the
The y trolls will go away after getting blown out at logan on Saturday.
@Tators (and other YbU poster trolls):0-4. Shhhhhhhh.Go
I love it, now the BYU fans are playing the old, "one game doesn't make
a season" card. How lame. I'm sure two games (i.e. Virginia) or 3, or
4, or 5 don't either. Every loss get's swept quickly under the rug.
Anything, and I mean anything, but admit that they lost to a better team and
give that team credit. What a sad M.O. Make up excuses and spin the fact they
lost. It's funny though, when Oregon State lost to E. Washington; that made
their season in the Blue eyed fans. A double standard indeed!
SportsFanOrem, UTRanked, or not, Texas is still a big name team,
certainly a MUCH bigger name than most of the "bcs" teams the Utes have
bragged about beating over the years._________Right,
because that is the only "name" that you can boast about recently. Only
BYU fans brag about beating New Mexico State, Idaho and Idaho State.Everyone knows Texas is a dumper team this season.
TatorsHyrum, UT@ Chris B and wannabes:It's a good
thing Utah is not playing today. It allows one more week to live in a dream
land._______Speaking from experience? Every week is
dream land for BYU fans.
You just knew that it would only be a matter of time before BYU fans (I mean byu
fans" as duckhunter/sports are great, etc. would say) would be conveniently
forgetting their annual beat down at the hands of the Utes, and come onto our
boards and trash talk. I just didn't think it would be so quickly, even by
their selective memory standards.byu "fans", a quick
rule-refresher for you. After you get beaten in the rivalry game, you forfeit
your trash-talking rights for a year. In this case, it has been four years in a
row, 5 of 6, 9 of 12, and overall 57-34-4.I think you can see why so
many of us Ute fans would rather never play your team. In your eyes, you win
even though you lose on the field.
anti BCSI just looked at the rankings and found that our Utes received a
vote in USA Today. It's interesting that they come in right behind Oregon
St. Of course, it's only USA so who cares, really.Tough, tough
schedule ahead but the team and the fans are up to the challenge. You see, anti
BCS, the Pac-12 is a fabulous place to be. A week in and week out challenge,
high quality games, Pac-12 Network, etc., etc. I know it's hard for you to
understand what it's like being in an elite conference...you'll just
have to take our word for it.
Rockwell: "Even with a loss to Utah, BYU will be ranked ahead of Utah when
the new rankings come out Monday"Don't have to wait till
Monday. Those ratings you look to as holy writ came out today, and you know what
happened? That domination over powerhouse Middle Tennessee State bumped the
Cougars all the way from 43 up to (drum roll)... 43! Meanwhile, on a bye week,
Utah went to 32.I'm not using this information to gloat (as you
already prematurely did), but simply as evidence of the flaws in these
computer-generated ratings. Now you're in a precarious position; admitting
that these ratings are flawed is admission that their past results were flawed.
By sticking to them, you're admitting that the Utes are clearly better than
JohnInSLCWho said anything about beating not being much to brag
about? BYU is now Utah's bowl game beating BYU is the ONLY thing Utah fans
have bragged about incessantly since joining the PAC.
SF:You're right. Beating BYU is not much to brag about these
days. I stand corrected.
Ranked, or not, Texas is still a big name team, certainly a MUCH bigger name
than most of the "bcs" teams the Utes have bragged about beating over
"since when do pre- or mid-season rankings count as beating a ranked
team?"SF:Ask your silly fellow coug. He brought up
the y's win over Texas as something to crow about, then asked a question
that I answered.
JohnInSLCSilly ute, since when do pre- or mid-season rankings count
as beating a ranked team?By that definition, BYU beat, no destroyed,
15th-ranked Texas just a couple of weeks ago, yet Utah fans are saying that
Texas isn't a very good team. Isn't a team ranked in the Top 15, by
definition, a very good team?
1) "You also said Utah would beat OSU and Texas would beat BYU... neither of
which happened."1) "Their obsessions with all things BYU simply
never ends"Tators:Glass houses! 1) You
predicted the y would beat UVa and Utah. . . Neither of which happened.2)
Says a y "fan" commenting on a Utah story.I see that big win
against Directional State got you out of the funk you were in all last week.
"Remind us that last time the Utes had a significant win over a ranked . . .
opponent."P-man:Silly cougar--it was September 15,
2012, when Utah beat BYU, who was ranked 25th in the AP poll afer opening wins
over Wazzu and . . . (wait for it) . . . Weber State. And that was the LAST time
your team was ranked!
Step #1: win some PAC-12 games.Oops....
@ Rockwell:The comments of certain ute fans prove their continued
jealousy... even after their slim victory with less offense. All major football
services still have BYU rated and ranked higher... especially come Monday. Their
obsessions with all things BYU simply never ends, in spite of weak denials.
@ 4.in a Row:Its sad but also hilarious that your entire existence
seems to center around being able to sometimes beat your Big Brother. By doing
so, you are giving BYU the ultimate respect.
@ Chris B: You also said Utah would beat OSU and Texas would beat
BYU... neither of which happened. Since Utah can't even beat OSU at home,
it's chances of beating UCLA are about as good as Middle Tennessee had of
4ina"Factor in strength of schedule and then get back to me
Cougar fans."Coaches/AP/Sagarin with SOS factored in:2011 #25/#26/#34 BYU(10-3) > unranked/#39 Utah(8-5) (not a single vote in
either poll)2012 unranked/#26 BYU(8-5) > unranked/#61 Utah(5-7)*2013 unranked/#43 BYU(1-2) < unranked/#42 Utah(3-1)*BYU/MTSU
not factored inEven with a loss to Utah, BYU will be ranked ahead of
Utah when the new rankings come out Monday, and the Cougars have been ranked
ahead of the Utes in 2011 and 2012.The best thing about being the
big brother, our entire season doesn't hang on the outcome of our game
versus our little brother.Any questions?
@ Chris B and wannabes:It's a good thing Utah is not playing
today. It allows one more week to live in a dream land.
While it's puzzling and frustrating trying to understand the success BYU
has had against PAC10 & PAC12 opponents, both recently and in the past, and
their continual crappy play against Utah, it is what it is. Utah has BYUs
number, for whatever reason, but trying to make excuses or circumvent the
scoreboard is just lame and futile for BYU fans. Utah owns us right now, and why
that's the case I'm honestly not sure...the teams are actually pretty
evenly matched in terms of talent at this point.Anyway, the Holy War
is old news. I think CB is forgetting about a very good ASU team, a good Arizona
team, & a steadily improving USC team. No, the winner of Utah/UCLA will not
determine the south when there are other very good teams in contention.
It's tantamount to saying whoever wins the Niners-Seahawks game will win
the NFC. Too many games, and too many contenders to make that assessment so
early. Then again, I should consider the source. Good luck utes,
keep the offense rolling, and tighten up that defense...bad A offenses are on
4 in a row!4 in a row!4 in a row!4 in a row!Factor
in strength of schedule and then get back to me cougar fans. The best
thing about 4 in a row, is the opportunity to go 5 in a row! RES
SparkleyUtah keeps winning the head-to-head battles, but that
doesn't always translate into winning the season-long war. One game does
not a season make.
The Moose"Despite the head-to-head results, BYU and Utah State
have been better than U." Only in the convoluted world of college football
where the winner is decided in a popularity contest instead on the field would
anyone even think such a thing."Was Colorado(3-10) better than
Utah(8-5)?Was UNLV(2-10) better than Utah(9-4)?Was Texas
A&M(11-2) better than *Alabama(13-1)?*Alabama received EVERY 1st
place vote in both the Final AP and Coaches polls. If Texas A&M
was the better team, why didn't the Aggies play in the BCS championship
game. Isn't the BCS supposed to ensure that the two best teams play for the
championship?I've just given you three definitive results which
prove that the better team doesn't always win the head-to-head. I could
give you hundreds more.
Silly Coug fans proclaiming their team superior to the team they haven't
beaten in four years! Only BYU fans.
@ PAC manWell Utah beat USU this year. It remains to be seen where
the Aggies finish this season, but they look pretty good. Texas is not a good
football team. Sorry, they're not. Congrats on that "big" win
though. The Colorado comment is completely irrelevant and is a weak
jab at best. The loss came two years ago. It has nothing to do with this year.
Neither does last season's game. Right now Utah is the best football
program in this state. You can't change that, so I suggest moving on.
Utah won't win the PAC12 South. They'll lose to both UCLA and USC.
not to mention the losses to Washington State, Oregon, and Stanford. Even with
the BYU win they'll fail to hit 6 wins.
Jealous of bcs teams,You byu fans said we wouldn't beat you
this year. Or last year. Or the year before that. Or the year before that. Or
against Alabama in prestigious bcs bowl. I like our chances against
ucla. The question is what will your excuse be when Utah beats ucla?
Anti BCS: It is comments like yours that make people scratch their heads.
"Despite the head-to-head results, BYU and Utah State have been better than
U." Only in the convoluted world of college football where the winner is
decided in a popularity contest instead on the field would anyone even think
such a thing. I have been involved in sports most my life and head to head is
all that matters.
@Chris B "And those who say Utah wont win are the same people who said
Utah wouldn't beat usu and wouldn't beat BYU. "As a
Utah fan myself I thought Utah was pretty much near even odds to beat USU, OSU,
and BYU (they beat 2 of 3, all 3 games were close so my assessments have been
pretty good so far). UCLA is better than all three of them. I won't say
that Utah can't beat UCLA, but I will say UCLA is more likely to win.
MUSSmanRemind us that last time the Utes had a significant win over
a ranked (#16/#17 Utah State) or big time (Texas) opponent.Your
sorry Utes are only 1-1 versus Colorado, a team that's lost TWENTY-ONE
games in the last TWO years, and you barely avoided losing to the 11-loss Buffs
Item number 1 on this list: Start caring about something besides
BYU! Outside of Utah (and you should go there sometime Chris B), nobody is
impressed or cares if you beat a lame BYU or USU team. Beat UCLA, Stanford,
Oregon, etc, and it's a much different story. There is no way around
that!Yes, Utah is the best program in Utah, no debate there. But
the real question is: are any of the Utah teams any good?
Pac manIf Utah needs to move to the Big Sky to stay competitive, BYU
should move their football program back to intramural flag football to stay
competitive. In that league, Taysom's passing statistics should soar! He
may even make it to an outstanding 40% completion percentage!!
christy"The Utah/UCLA winner WILL win the Pac 12 South."That's like saying the Purdue/Ohio State winner WILL win the B1G
Leaders.BYU/USU fans mock Utah's PAC record because, despite
Utah fan chest beating, your overall record has been far from impressive.Of the three, which two teams have finished in the Top 25 during the
last two years?BYU and Utah StateOf the three, which two teams
have played in bowl games each of the last two years?BYU and Utah StateOf the three, which is the ONLY team that has lost to a 10-loss team in
the last two years?UtahDespite the head-to-head results, BYU
and Utah State have been better than U.
What a difference to have our starting quarterback healthy and doing well. This
time last year, backup Jon Hayes was leading the Utes into PAC 12 play. The
loss against Oregon State hurt, but Wilson's turnovers appear to have been
out of character, with no picks in the other games. Great show of character by
Wilson against OSU to overcome the turnovers and get the Utes back into the
Pac man,How does it feel to lose every year to a team that you claim
should be in the Big Sky?However "bad" we are, you're
the only thing utah can do to be successful in the pac12 is win pac12 games,
that is it.that being said, they have not been successful, are not
successful so far and have little chance this season of being successful.so I guess if all the homers embrace that, then I guess its time to hug
Not much news here. The same list could be used for any football team in
America, Pop Warner, High School, College or Pro.Kinda sounds like
all the half time analyses: "Well, Biff, what do our Guys have to do to win
the game?" Well, Buck, "Our defense has to get tough and the offense
has to unleash and score a few more points! If they'll do that I'll
guarantee a win for the Big Guys!"Dang, it sounds like I'm
qualified to be a high paid TV personality! Where do I sign?
11. Move to the Big Sky where the Utes would be more competitive.
Things I've said since offseason:1. Utah would beat
usu(done)2. Utah would beat byu(done)3. Utah would go 8-4(well on
our way)4. the Utah/UCLA winner would win pac 12 southAnd I
like our chances against UCLA.
byu and usu fans who mock Utah's record against good Pac 12 teams are
hilarious. However "bad" we are, usu and byu are worse!
The Utah/UCLA winner WILL win the Pac 12 South.I've been saying
it since the offseason. And those who say Utah wont win are the same
people who said Utah wouldn't beat usu and wouldn't beat BYU. And
those turned out just great!
