Here we have a serious story about a life and death part of Dave Rose. But per
the usual immaturity of both fans, it turns into childish and immature garbage.
Will this nonsense ever stop? Please stop and show Coach Rose some respect.
Wonderful news!Hope the recovery continues to go well!
I wish coach Rose the very, very best. He is an asset not only toe BYU, but to
college basketball as a whole.
RE: Chris B. "You play something like 30 games and you beat ONE
team in the top 100? That is laughable."I’ll tell you
what’s laughable. In 2012-13 BYU lost to only TWO schools ranked below the
Top 100 RPI (#158 San Diego, #161 San Fransico), while Utah lost to SIX such
teams (#283 Sacramento State, #172 Southern Methodist, #241 Cal State
Northridge, #122 USC, #191 Washington State, #182 Oregon State).Schedule smack is pretty weak when your team is losing to Sacramento State and
Cal State Northridge. Go Cougs!
I just love and respect Coach Rose. I pray that he stays healthy as I like the
system he has built at BYU. Recovery quickly and fully Coach Rose.Godspeed.
RE: Chris B. "I still think its pretty sad byu's second
best win the entire season against RPI 100 Santa Clara if I remember
right."Nope, you're not right. The #2 RPI win was against
Weber State (#78) and they had two other wins against top 100 RPI opponents. So
you're 0 for 2. Perhaps you should actually look things up before you make
claims? But while we're at it, here are some FACTS...In the
Rose era (last eight seasons)BYU has made six NCAA tournament appearances,
Utah has one.BYU has been ranked in the final polls three times (#24, #17,
#10), Utah has been ranked once (#25 in 2009). BYU has four conference
titles, Utah has oneBYU has two draft picks with another making an NBA
roster, Utah has zeroBYU has eight 20 win seasons, Utah has one (with six
losing seasons)BYU has out-recruited Utah seven of the eight seasonsAnd guess what, I didn't have to make any of that up. Go Cougs!
easily the best team in the state of Utah.
What does this have to do with baseball? Hope Rose is doing well, and go cougs
for b-ball this season!
As a Sun Devil, we welcome Utah into our conference, knowing the poor team gives
our not-as-poor team a chance to win in basketball and a guaranteed blowout win
in football #youdontbelong
What's laughable is a "fan" belittling a rival and hanging his/her
hat on his/her team's "better wins" while ignoring a losing season
record, poor conference record, no tournament appearances, and another loss to
said rival. The typical Ute war cry for football the past four years
is usually "so, we're bad...but at least we beat you (BYU)."And here's Chris..."we're bad...YOU beat
us...but...uhmmm...we had "better wins." Seriously
laughable...and pretty sad.If you want any credibility, save the
BBall smack until the Utes beat the Y or make a post-season, non-conference
I'm glad that Coach Rose is alright. He seems like a decent guy.
Good luck to a classy coach!! I hope his health troubles are behind him for
1978 and Wiscougar,You are right, I did forget about Southern Miss,
and yes that was a good win. My bad. I still think its pretty sad
byu's second best win the entire season against RPI 100 Santa Clara if I
remember right. You play something like 30 games and you beat ONE
team in the top 100?That is laughable.
But that also shows that Utah's ceiling is much higher than byu.---Chris B, nice words on Coach Rose. I'm glad you have it
in you. Now, regarding "ceiling" I think what you're
saying is room for improvement much like what BYU has in football. And the
results in both sports show it, Utah has won four straight (football) and BYU
has won seven straight (basketball).
Chris B. The team from Utah that beat the opponent with the highest
RPI was BYU beating Southern Miss (#26). Thanks for the reminder that
BYU's season was longer than Utah's with the deep NIT run.
Best wishes to Coach Rose for a continued quick recovery and hopes to be cancer
free.Ok, Chris B. I'll take the bait.Uhmmmm...let
me try to answer your questions. My guess is ... uhmmmmm ... Utah?Would that be the same team that had 18 losses (one of those to BYU, of
course). And it would probably be the same team that did not play a
post-season game. (Unless you count a conference tourney where everyone is
invited.) Spent NCAA and NIT March Madness on the couch. By the way,
that's the same place they spent bowl season...in case you forgot, while
basking in the glow of 20-13 TOTAL dominance. Is that the answer to
your questions?Keep Spinning.
@Chris BThanks for the nice comments about Coach Rose. I hope this
is the end of it for him.You are correct if you only include the
regular season however BYU beat Southern Miss on the road in the NIT tournament
and that was the highest RPI victory for any team in the state last year.
@ Chris B7 straight and 11 of the last 12. Nuff said.
Hopefully this is the last of the cancer for Coach Rose. It's scary stuff
for anyone. And now as a byu basketball dig, do you know who had the
best RPI win of anyone in the state last year?UtahDo you
know who had the second highest RPI win?UtahDo you know
who had the third highest RPI win?UtahDo you know who
had the fourth highest RPI win?UtahDo you know who had
the fifth highest RPI win?UtahThat is just one of the
great things about being in a real league. Byu had relatively few chances for a
good RPI win last year, and they NEVER got a single great RPI win the entire
year. If I remember their "best" rpi was was against a team
ranked like 100.Utah had FIVE better wins any any of byu's
wins.Yes, we had bad losses. But that also shows that
Utah's ceiling is much higher than byu.
