It seems to me you can look at illnesses in at least these two ways:

Something that can be treated expensively.

Something that can be cheaply prevented or, in some cases, reversed.

My understanding is that you can often prevent Alzheimers by (A) Keeping your mind
active and (B) By eating a healthy, heavily plant-based, diet. (Apparently some aged nuns were immune from Alzheimers, none of them "had it" at least, despite very advanced age, and the thing different about them and many of the aged was their diet and their continued, regular reading and thinking.

It seems likely that there are physical causes of Alzheimers that defy prevention or cure; yet I am convinced that the disease might be prevented in many cases. I am hopeful that it can be sometimes reversed, but I don't know much about that.
