I am looking forward to the next two year break with this game. Beating BYU just doesn't hold much interest for me anymore.

"... John Beck and Max Young eras."

I know Max Young, and he is not a hater.

Outgaining an opponent in yardage is fine, but ...... even if you run roughshod over 99 yards of the field (and not a "triangle" as a certain SEC coach misspoke), if you can't put the ball over the goal line, the yardage doesn't matter.

Hats off to the Utes for executing an excellent game plan.

Hope Williams is ok.

That four game losing streak is probably going to sting for three long years.

Ah, worf. What can be done, my man? Your presence and thoughtful commentary will be missed.

Yes we do!

The poor little dog is on the leash. The duke gets scooped and the laws of what dogs are allowed in the park are restricted even in Provo.

True true. Great article. Thanks to both teams for an exciting game tonight. Had a Y fan tell me that he hates everything about Utah before the game (no it was not Max Hall). I guess he hates me too. Oh well. Great game tonight. My heart was pumping until the end. Best of luck to BYU the rest of this season. I have an unfortunate feeling that the cougs are going to experience more wins than my Utes the rest of the season. I will miss this game the next couple of years. It is a shame that it is not being played. I still think it was a poor choice. You play your rival every year. Period. Sorry (truly) to the Y fans that the Utes backed out for the next two games.

Anyway, great win tonight. Go Utes!

Utah has the better team, and has for a while. Nice job Utes!

Lavell Edward's legacy at BYU:

20 conference titles

6th on NCAA all-time list for coaching victories (257)

Member of the College Football Hall of Fame

Coached 6 all-American quarterbacks, a Heisman Trophy winner, a Doak Walker Award winner, a Maxwell Award winner, two Outland Trophies winners, four Davey O'Brien Award winners, seven Sammy Baugh Award winners, and 31 All-America citations, including 11 consensus All-Americans.

His teams led the nation in passing offense 8 times
His teams led the nation in total offense 5 times
His teams led the nation in scoring offense 3 times

In 1984, he was named National Coach of the Year after BYU finished the season 13–0 and won the National Championship. Edwards retired after the 2000 season with a 257–101–3 record for a .717 winning percentage.

Absolutely owned Utah.

Bronco's legacy:

None of the above

Was totally owned by Utah.

Is Harline still open or is Dres Andersen still running? The latter is the answer. Andersen hasn't stopped since 2011 against BYU. He has made huge plays on BYU three years running. Again, Andersen is still running.

Major disappointment is hardly the term to describe this loss! Taysom Hill? Good grief, he couldn't even hit the side of a barn when it counts. So from a goat, to a prince, to a toad! I don't even know what this team is. I'm so sad and disgusted! It's precisely the reason I hated to hear stupid predictions by some of our fans who discounted and bashed on the Utes. This is the pain I hoped to avoid. The Utes are for real! Deal with it! Now I hope they go on to win out their division. The last thing I want to hear is we lost to a Pac 12 bottom dweller. That will be even more embarrassing for us. This is going to hurt for a long time.

So sad also to see Williams hurt. Hope he's ok.

Payson, UT

Good game by both teams. Taysom showed he is a better passer than his stats show, but receivers aren't as good as projected.

Utah won because of defense again. Utah offense was horrible in the second half with the exception of the scoring drive. Third down conversions are a must.

Good luck to BYU the rest of the way, and...

I'm a Cougar. Our offense isn't very good. ugh. The better team won tonight. I hope Williams is okay.

Bringing Anae back was a mistake. His play calling is still a bust. What's that old adage, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Time for a house cleaning, starting at the top...3-6...bronco must go!

Provo, ut

I missed the game but it sounds like the best way to keep the Y from scoring is to give the offense the ball?

BYU has an impressive defense, a promising running game, but a virtually non-existent pass attack. Maybe two years off to get their groove back is just what the doctor ordered.

Winners are chosen when PAC teams play:

* Arizona State over Wisconsin
* USC over Utah State
* Utah over BYU,& Utah State

When even teams play each other, just a couple plays against one will determine the victory.

IMO--Utah will not do well in the PAC 12,--not because of lesser talent or coaching. But because they are not one of the chosen ones to win. Greater cash flow greater with other teams.

Anchorage, AK

Hill is a terrible passer - why did the coaches stay with him? Last I checked, there was a guy on the bench with a pretty good arm...when you're behind, you pass. When you pass, you need someone with far better that 30% accuracy. Taysom needs to sit for a game and let Ammon give it a try, but Bronco has this thing for grit, loyalty, 'he gives us a chance to win' that ends up costing games/seasons.

LaVerkin, Utah

I have two suggestions for Bronco. First, convert Hill (another Heaps) into a running back. Second, cross his fingers and look for a real quarterback.
